THURSDAY 18 MAY 2017 THE STAR SYDNEY A record number of nominations have been received from across the legal profession. Now Australasian Lawyer reveals the best of the best THE ANNUAL Australasian Law Awards celebrates excellence in the legal profession, recognising leading lawyers, firms, in-house legal teams and the landmark deals that have shaped the business landscape. This year, on 18 May, The Star Sydney will once again play host to a night of celebration. Our call for nominations in January-February this year generated a record response with hundreds of entries received across all categories. Simply being selected as a finalist is an achievement worthy of note. As the legal profession evolves, so too does the Australasian Law Awards. Several new awards have been added: Young In-house Lawyer of the Year and Young Private Practice Lawyer of the Year recognising the rising

stars of the profession aged 30 or under; and Australian Arbitrator of the Year and Australian Mediator of the Year, extending recognition to members of the legal profession outside of firms and in-house legal teams. A new category for NZ Deal Firm of the Year has also been introduced, recognising the best firm across the Tasman in terms of overall firm involvement in major deals. Australasian Lawyer is proud to present the individuals, firms, teams and dealmakers that have made this year’s list of finalists. We would like to thank all those who submitted nominations this year and to all our sponsors whose continued support makes the event a success. We look forward to celebrating your success at The Star Sydney on Thursday 18 May.

Clayton Utz is a leader in legal services and a firm with a uniquely independent culture. Our success reflects our focus on our two key assets: our people and our clients. They range from iconic Australian and multinational corporations and leading government agencies to some of the most marginalised people in Australia who we assist through our Pro Bono practice. In 2015 we reached the milestone of 500,000 pro bono hours - the most of any Australian law firm or any firm outside the US. We encourage our people to show leadership in everything they do and stay true to their direction.
