From the Editor Hey Key Clubbers!

I am Amelia Campbell, your District Bulletin Editor. It is my pleasure to be serving in this position again. As you may or may not know, I am the one responsible for creating these very long bulletins that come out every other month. Along with that my duties include: managing our main social media platform, Instagram, as well as, Facebook and Youtube. This is a lot of responsibility for one person which is why these take so long to make. Also, there is a very strong possibility that these will come out even less often than last year since I am in my final year. Regardless, I promise maximum effort is put into each and every one of these.

This issue takes on a back-to-school theme seeing as it is the first issue of the Key Club year. There will be mentions of DCON along with other district activities. Keep reading for updates on dues, and services the district is inclined to do, plus some bonus articles! Remember everything we do in key club is

Hi Keyclubbers! I would hope you all know me by now but for those of you who don’t, my name is Arnav Chatani, the Key Club Jamaica District Governor for the upcoming Key Club year. I am a seventeen-year-old currently in Grade 12, and I like to play tennis and football. I am very excited to serve you all as the District Governor this upcoming year and have many plans and exciting initiatives in store that I cannot wait to introduce to you all.

We are still struggling as a nation with the COVID-19 pandemic currently, and I personally know that it is extremely difficult to keep spirits high at this time through online platforms.

However, I still ask you all to come into this Key Club year with an open mind and let us all get through this situation together. I assure you all that it will be an amazing experience for everyone. One of our major goals for this year is to have 5,000 active Keyclubbers, and we cannot even think about this goal without the support of you all. I hope you all are excited and ready to serve this year as Key Club is back in full force! Please continue to abide by the COVID-19 restrictions and stay safe everyone!

My name is Amelia Campbell and I attend Campion College which is a part of the Mighty D2. This is my 2nd year as DBE but before 2020 I was the Bulletin Editor for my home club and even further back I was a chairperson. Outside of Key Club, which is honestly most of my life, I am an artist and I believe that helps me a significant amount when it comes to the design part of this job. For this year I hope to keep up with the demands of the role to the best of my ability!

Hey Key Clubbers! My name’s Emelia Salmon and I’m currently the outgoing District Webmaster for the Key Club Jamaica District. Unfortunately, I can no longer be a part of the board due to migrating, however, between May and September, I tried my best to contribute as much as I could up until I suddenly had to go. Among those achievements was the full redesign and optimisation of the Key Club Jamaica website’s desktop and mobile versions ( visit keyclubjamaica.com to take a look). I also designed the graphic for the Free Rice initiative as well as the Instagram post introducing the district board. I had many other goals for this key club year, that hopefully once passed on to our next Webmaster will be able to see fruition. Good Day Everyone, My name is Jizelle Reid and I am currently serving in the capacity of Lieutenant Governor for Key Club Jamaica Division 1 (2021-2022).

I hope you and all your loved one's are doing well and that this message finds you all being safe and sound.

As LG some of my goals/plans for the division include: Establishing a firm support system for all clubs in Division one (through the combined efforts of all our clubbers). We will host monthly empowerment sessions to aid in building the character of all our members. We aim to have each Key Club in D1 establish a relationship with a builders club, along with setting up a homework assistance program where each Key Club in D1 targets a specific group of students. Last but not least, we plan to execute a variety of service projects that we pray will positively impact the children of the world.

With our theme for this key club year being "Children their future our focus", I am excited to see the work that will be done by our clubbers, regardless of the division your club falls under please remember to let love, peace, integrity, humility, generosity, hard work, and unity guide you to success in serving the children of the world. As stated by my faculty advisor if we can help someone as we go along, then our living shall not be in vain.

Hey, key clubbers! I am Sitra Sunanon, the Lieutenant Governor for Division 3. I am thrilled to work with you all and I cannot wait until we can go back face to face for a proper introduction.

In my division, I aim to expand our horizons by forming new clubs and reactivate inactive clubs. It is my intention to work with my fellow LGs to allow my division to work alongside new people in new environments, with the ultimate goal to promote teamwork and make lifelong friendships.

I want to leave a lasting impact on this country, step by step, so everyone knows about Key Club and all of the wonderful things we do and will continue to do for our people and our environment.

Lastly, prepare for an action-packed year, filled with fun, memories, and a whole lot of service projects! Wear a mask, sanitize and keep safe!

Hello everyone, my name is Jaheim Keise. I'm in the thirteenth grade and a science student at the prestigious York Castle high school.

Currently, I hold the position of lieutenant governor of Division 4 and it has been a great journey so far.

My goals for this year include spreading the key club mission to other schools and reviving those clubs which have been dormant over the years. This is to expand our reach throughout our division and to set a stronger foundation for the coming generations. As the saying goes ‘united we stand divided we fall’. These and other projects are in the works. It's always a pleasure to serve. Let's emulate the key club spirit.

Hey Key Club Jamaica District! I’m Jaylon Dell, the Lieutenant Governor for Key Club Division Five. I hope everyone is doing okay in this trying time. Before anything else, please remember to sanitize, wash your hands and get vaccinated, and continue to stay safe!

For this ongoing year, Division Five was already the instigator for the Saint Vincent Cases of Water Bottle Donation Drive, in which we donated $153,000.00 to the project. We’ve recently started a new project of helping students of the University of the West Indies (Western Campus) with their tuitions. We are also starting up our plans of a plastic bottle recycling drive to give to the Wisynco for a reward that will go to Division’s future plans.

Amongst many other things coming!

I am 17 years old and I currently attend Manchester High School in Mandeville in which I’m in grade 12. Division 7 includes schools in the parishes of Manchester, St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland. For my tenure as Lt. Governor I plan to get the divisions to have a closer relationship with each other by organizing different events with the 6 other Lt. Governor’s which would involve multiple divisions to work together to do what we do best.

Welcome back to all members of the Key Club Jamaica District. We are at a stage where we have worked as a team to overcome. This year as clubs start to do projects and have meetings we shall be seeing dual modality of operation. The district will work with clubs to overcome this.

Let us give special welcome to the Grange Hill High members who joined the district this September. Governor Arnav and the District Board promises to bring a new deal to the table and to build better relations and encourage clubs to provide more service to the home, school, and community. The free rice project target is 2 million grains and we have to get all hands on deck. Thank you to the clubs and the immense support from the Kiwanis clubs as well.

Let us roll up our sleeves and get to work as Key Club is here to make the change.

SPECIAL CLUB FEATURE JULY

Bridgeport High School

The Kiwanis Club of Portmore chose Bridgeport High School, their Student Leadership Program, as the location to plant not only trees but hope for the future. Nine fruit trees and a palm tree were planted.

The location of the school in which the trees were planted was the site of a previous service project undertaken by the Key Club and is now adopted by the Club as a part of its ongoing environmental service project.

The Key Club will ensure the ongoing maintenance and care of the fruit and palm trees so that future generations will benefit from its effort to help to create a healthy environment in which to learn.

April was Autism Acceptance month so an infographic about "The Puzzle Piece" was made discussing the history and dislike for the symbol as it relates to Autism.

Additionally other topics, like "Stimming" and "How to support the Autistic" were covered and can still be found in our highlights.

This poster was made to inform members of our annual competition. The other slide is the master list of mental illnesses the entries had to choose from. Throughout the course of the competition,

You do not have to know the 2 nd theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You do not have to be 14, 20, 30 or 40 years of age to serve. Volunteering offers vital help to people in need, worthwhile causes and the community, but the benefits can be even greater for you, the volunteer. Volunteering and helping others can help you reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated and provide a sense of purpose.

It’s true that the more you volunteer, the more benefits you will experience. Volunteering doesn’t however have to involve a long term commitment or take a huge amount of time out of your busy schedule. Giving in even simple ways can help others and those in need.

KCJA DUES 2021 Last year we were able to collect dues from over 60 of our 75 clubs!

We are extremely grateful to everyone who made the sacrifice last year and paid their dues.
