The January Issue
Key Club members volunteered to help sort through fabric samples, separating them from paper headers, and separating them to be recycled
"FABSCRAP is a non-profit recycling fabric scraps from design and fashion companies in NYC and creating opportunities for reuse." (Fabscrap Facebook About Section) One of our objectives, in FLHS Key Club, is to help reduce the carbon footprint of the earth. So in partnering with BKLYN Fabscrap, we're doing our part in recycling fabric that would've been otherwise thrown away and ended up in a landfill, adding to our carbon footprint.
Kehilat is a kosher food pantry aimed to be inclusive of dietary restrictions when distributing food to and humanizing the less fortunate
We packed and distributed bags of produce and packaged food outside in the morning to people who need it most.
Key Club members had fun while helping us fundraise $300+ for soles for souls
This festival is a celebration of the passing of the lunar new year with traditions such as a dragon dance, dancing, and cheering.
We helped the organizers with product distribution, dragon dancing, organization of materials, and handing out gifts
"Key club has changed my life and has become one of the things I value. I’ve learn social skills and met new people. I’m given opportunities to help others while also improving myself. I’ve also made many fun memories with my friends. My favorite memory was Light the Night and walking along the beautiful moonlight."
Unicef's goal is to help and advocate for disadvantaged children. Examples of what they have done are providing communities that don't have access to vaccinations and vaccines, providing communities with food, and millions of children to continue their education.
"Kiwanis International is a global community of clubs, members and partners dedicated to improving the lives of children one community at a time ... Each community has different needs, and Kiwanis empowers members to pursue creative ways to serve the needs of children, such as fighting hunger, improving literacy and offering guidance." (Kiwanis Organization) Without our Kiwanis, Key Club would cease to exist and communities in desperate need would not get the volunteer and resources we provide them with.
"URounded is a non-profit education organization providing free tutoring services to youth grades K-11. Our goal is to provide relief to families who may not have the resources or time to keep up with their children’s education while also allowing the children themselves to have an accessible education. We do this through our free online tutoring, workshops, curricula, and database. By being a part of URounded you may receive a position for your resume, service hours, networking opportunities, development in public speaking skills, knowledge in interested fields and real-world applications, and access to our partnerships for colleges, careers, and internships"

LTGs or Lieutenant Governors are student leaders who manage all the Key Clubs in their respective districts.
Key Club leadership training conference is back and coming up soon and is a great opportunity for those who are potentially seeking out positions within Key Club. It's a great opportunity for people who want to to learn about the roles within Key Club and maybe improve upon what they know. More additional info will be released soon.
January has been such an eventful event for the Key Club community as a whole, so much has happened in the past month. We started with passing of the new year, our first event of 2023, our first and highest fundraiser of the year, and our first cultural parade event. We really hope for the next following months to be as successful if not more and wish you all a wonderful 2023.
