3 Events - 7/16 Japan Fest - 7/23 Sustainable Fashion - 7/30 Color Run
JAPANFES Our members assisted the staff by distributing drinks, regulating lines, and advertising. We were extremely grateful for the opportunity to watch our favorite dishes getting made and the work behind it and experience as well as learn more about Japanese food, culture, and everyday life.
What Japanfes means to our Volunteers
"Volunteering for JapanFes was a very unique and exciting experience. It let me experience and learn more about East Asian culture ... Interacting with a lot of strangers was very out of my comfort zone, but it paid off to see so many people enjoying the food, drinks, and atmosphere of the festival ... volunteers even got a free ramen which was definitely worth it." - Julia Bilik
Sustainable Fashion Club members assisted in sorting, organizing, modeling, and marketing clothes, giving them a new life. Through this event, we learned about the devastating environmental impacts of fast fashion as well as the unethical labor practices of the industry. The sustainable fashion center runs on the model of recycling and giving new life to formerly unappreciated clothes, contrary to the business model of the fashion industry as a whole, revolutionizing what fashion is.

Color Run
Club membered assisted staffers at the event in distributing bottles of water, packaging boxes with metals, and spraying color at the runners. Color Run is a 5k run that celebrates and promotes happiness, healthiness, and individuality. The organizational goal is to make the world a happier, healthier, free-spirited place for everybody.
What did we do at Color Run? "Color run was fun and exciting. Seeing the enthusiasm in runners young and old encouraged and motivated me as I stood in the sun, throwing colors at the runner. Although the color powder was hard to throw, especially when the wind kept blowing it into my face, it was nice seeing people enjoy the event as much as I did." - Cindy Chen

Editor's Note
Unfortunately, we haven't been active in terms of events we've had this month, but we plan to change that for next month. We'll have a heavily discounted fundraiser, our first meeting, and more events as we pick up steam and bring our club back to normal as the school year starts. But I'm so proud of our members for making an effort to take time out of their busy schedules and coming to the events we had. As the Key Club board, we recognize how fundamental these events are to our club and will work harder to organize more events.
