SUMMER LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE JULY 1ST-3RD
Key Club International hosted their first leadership conference for members to attend at the beginning of the month. There were workshops, speakers, and award sessions for everyone to participate in!
During the conference, members of the International Council selected leaders for the upcoming service year! Participants of the four-part series were given the skills and resources to be a leader in the club and community, while receiving a certificate and follow-up communication and training throughout the year as they joined their Culture of Care.
THIRST PROJECT LEGACY SUMMIT JULY 16TH-17TH The Thirst Project held their annual legacy summit virtually this year. It featured world-class speakers, inspirational breakout sessions, live performances, and much more!
They handpicked industry experts to lead unique sessions, each workshop designed to help everyone learn and grow as a leader.
MOVIE FUNDRAISER JULY 19TH We held our first fundraiser mid-July through discord! We streamed "A Whisker Away" to raise money for the Thirst Project to contribute to the ending of the global water crisis.
Thank you to everyone who supported the movie or donated to help developing communities get access to fresh drinking water!
JULY DIVISIONAL JULY 31ST We had our third divisional the 31st! Yet another success! We were informed of ongoing and upcoming district and division updates, service hour opportunities, and other important events. Thank you to Alvin (LTG) and our members that attended!
Whenever there are meetings held through Zoom, make sure to sign up (if there is a google form) and use your full name!
SAY THANKS! ONGOING My fellow board members compiled a list of links in which our key club members can access to say thank you first responders and essential workers throughout this pandemic. Words can change anyone's day!

FREERICE ONGOING The United Nations World Food Programme, a humanitarian organization, is saving lives and building a better future for the hungry by having an app that helps them afford grains of rice called Freerice.
How does Freerice work? It is a free app to download that allows everyone to donate 10 grains of rice to families in need by answering questions correctly playing a multiple-choice quiz game.

Our members can start transcribing or adding to a transcription of a document. Once you're finished with your work, another volunteer will review it. The transcript is then sent to the Smithsonian to be approved. It can be used immediately or undergo more revisions.
PROJECT GIVINGTHANKS ONGOING A group of high schoolers at Arcadia High School in California created Project Giving Thanks. They aim to spread positivity to essential workers during the coronavirus panic.

QUEENS MEMORY COVID PROJECT ONGOING
We asked our Key Club members to contribute by submitting their testimony, photos, and videos from home.
The Queens College Library and Queens Public Library created the Queens Memory COVID-19 Project, a borough-wide archiving campaign collecting personal stories of people in the middle of the covid-19 pandemic.

JESSICA KWONG
HELLO, MY NAME IS JESSICA KWONG. I JOINED KEY CLUB A FEW MONTHS AFTER SCHOOL STARTED. EVEN THOUGH I JOINED A BIT LATE, I FELT WELCOMED. THE ENVIRONMENT SEEMED RELAXED YET PRODUCTIVE. KEY CLUB HAS CHANGED ME BECAUSE I DONβT LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE ANYMORE, I LOOK AT THE SMALL THINGS IN LIFE AND HOW GRATEFUL I AM FOR EVERYONE IN MY LIFE.
JOINING KEY CLUB WAS ONE OF THE BEST DECISIONS IβVE EVER MADE HERE AT FRANCIS LEWIS!! IT IS SUCH A GREAT WAY TO BOTH HELP THE PEOPLE AND COMMUNITIES WHO NEED IT MOST WHILE MAKING NEW FRIENDS AND HAVING FUN!
"Jessica has so much energy and potential!"

during the month of july, most (if not all) received our scores for the ap tests we took in may and/or june. I hope everyone did well! if not, do not worry. ap scores do not hold a significant disadvantage to those who did not do as they wanted. I know this pandemic has been difficult, hopefully we can all go day to day safely. wear your masks! YOUR EDITOR, MAHEEN <3
