WELCOME TO WYNNUM If you thought the sun had set on Wynnum, think again. Not only has the sun risen but the stars are aligned and shopping in the central business district is like a comet streaking across the skies. Wynnum has always been ahead of the fashion game with long established and popular boutique Got-A-Go Got-A-Go. Joining them are some complementary additions. Sonny Jim is for the discerning gentleman who likes to look and feel their best. From tops to cotton socked toes, Karen has something for every man including Top Grain Leather bags, wallets & satchels. Lingerie specialist Andria at Le Busté

ensures every woman feels like the star they were born to be. Offering Style, Support and Comfort, she promises to leave you with the perfect fit, whether it be sporty, every day or super sexy. Oak & Lotus have taken over the spot previously occupied by Sobidah Clothing who have moved to Edith Street. Tenneille & Chelsea provide their own curated lines of children’s clothing & candles, as well as home to other small women’s and children’s businesses. Good news on the café front with Fleur by Ellie on Bay Terrace adding High Tea to its offering as a Boutique Florist & Gift Shop. Edith Street has a new hole in the wall Café at Loan Crew to curb both your caffeine

and croissant craving. Coffee n Bricks in Bay Terrace not only offer coffee and Lego bricks but a friendly happy space to get creative. For the Pinball Wizard Multiball Mania opposite Mr Hibachi will give you a retro experience with Free Play Pinballs for a $15 entry fee.

Then for a date night, head to Hudson Brewery for a quick boutique style ale before taking in a blockbuster at Majestic Cinema. And if the night is still young head Cinema across the road to the Waterloo Hotel or around the corner to The Fat Duck for a cheeky nightcap.

Chocolate Elements will tempt your taste buds with delicious homemade chocolate, honey and artisan cheeses from local producers.

Lastly, why not drop in to the revamped Green Bean Café and chat to owner Abhash who took over the popular café in May, bringing his catering and baking experience to provide wholesome homemade dishes and cakes.

WYNNUM COMMERCE PROJECTS Wynnum CBD is set to come alight with the second phase of the Tree Illumination project, to add to the wonderful lighting carried out earlier this year along Bay Terrace. Fundraising is under way to extend the lighting along Bay Terrace, Edith and Florence Streets, as well as continuing into a number of Laneways. Look out for a planned building illumination which is hoped for following a grant submission. A sub-tropical rainforest is a new addition to the attractions of Wynnum CBD with the addition of a new laneway mural (see image above). This installation, which is already appealing to the ‘selfie’, is the first in the Wynnum Laneways Project with more set to follow.

The ‘rainforest’ mural is located off Bay Terrace next door to boutique homewares store Cultivate Design Co, and is funded by both WCI and Brisbane City Council. Don’t forget to #WynnumNow! Pole banners promoting what’s happening in Wynnum have been erected around the CBD. These have been generously supported by various local businesses. The pole banner initiatives produce income to support community and business projects for the enhancement and benefit of the Wynnum CBD. If you would like the opportunity to support this initiative next year, please contact events@

Edinburgh, Adelaide…Wynnum? Wynnum takes centre stage as Australia’s latest and greatest performing arts hub with two huge events set to shine a spotlight on the seaside suburb in 2021. After a mega-successful inaugural outing last year, Wynnum Fringe 2021 is back – bigger and bolder than before – with a star-studded lineup of local, national and international acts across six days from 16 to 21 November. Brisbane’s only annual fringe festival will also debut Rock the Bay – a one-day outdoor concert on Saturday 9 October 2021 on the front hill of Iona College, Lindum – as a musical precursor to the festival event.

In the grand tradition of Australian music festivals, Rock the Bay boasts a mustsee lineup of beloved homegrown icons alongside up-and-coming local talent, hosted by Wynnum Fringe Founder Tom Oliver and Johnny Balbuziente (Married at First Sight). Headlined by Aussie music legend Daryl Braithwaite, concert-goers will be able Braithwaite to groove along to Australian rock royalty Ceberano such as soulful singer Kate Ceberano, ‘90s pop duo Bachelor Girl and singersongwriter Sarah MacLeod of The Superjesus and solo fame. Rounding out the local lineup is Brisbanebased singer-songwriters Luke Kennedy and Mark Sholtez and folk-pop duo Women in Docs plus the electronic pop stylings of Ella Fence and reggaetinged

Safari vibes of Lucid Safari. The musical momentum will carry through to the second annual Wynnum Fringe, which will up the ante to build on the runaway success of last year’s festival, which staged more than 50 events with 150 artists performing for an in-person and online global audience of 45,000 within a COVID-safe environment across three days. Wynnum CBD will continue to act as the heart of the arts festival and a pedestrian playground featuring laneway activations, food trucks, outdoor bars and free local performances on Friday 19 November and Saturday 20 November.

Wynnum Fringe 2021 and Rock the Bay is supported by the: • Queensland Government through

Tourism and Events Queensland. • Adrian Schrinner, Lord Mayor, Brisbane City Council • Arts Queensland Rock the Bay is on Saturday 9 October 2021 on the front hill at Iona College, Lindum. Wynnum Fringe 2021 is on from Tuesday 16 November to Sunday 21 November 2021 at various venues. For pre-sale tickets and to view the full program, visit

New Wynnum Business 2021 Member stickers are appearing around Wynnum in the windows and on the counters of members, many of whom are businesses new to the area who have joined very recently. The design of the new stickers incorporates the Wynnum colourband around the outside and the two associated brands – hyper local news site WynnumCentral and Wynnum the Republic of Wynnum. Look out for the stickers and support those local Wynnum businesses.
