WYNNUM WINTER EVENTS Wynnum is set to be bustling over winter with new and regular events to keep you warm and entertained.

Gigs On Greene is a new FREE concert Sunday afternoon event at Greene Park at the top end of the foreshore near Wynnum Creek.

Presented by Tom Oliver Productions of Wynnum Fringe fame – and Chris Hollingsworth, Owner of Adelita Wine Bar. This monthly event will present live music acts on a caravan stage with food stalls to cater for all.

Drag, Burlesque and Comedy nights are monthly events at D&W Republic Bar in

Edith Street, Wynnum. A massive night of comedy is assured from the Drop Bear Comedy Club with several comedians set to entertain and get the audience laughing. Hudson Brewing host regular Comedy and Trivia nights at their Gibbs Street location. Enjoy a night with quality locally made brews and hot food from regular food trucks.

Wynnum UpLate is a late night shopping evening showcasing eclectic retail and dining in the heart of Wynnum. Meet up with friends; enjoy some local ‘retail therapy’, then sample the variety of food options. End the evening with a tipple in a bar/wine bar of your choosing. The next Wynnum Uplate is a pre-Fathers Day special on Fri. 1st Sept. from 5pm to late.

Tuesday Community Dinners Wynnum Community Place provides a free, sit-down, home-cooked meal from 4pm to 5:30pm every Tuesday for all community members, including those who are socially isolated, homeless, or in crisis. Prepared by dedicated volunteers, these meals aim to offer both nourishment and a sense of community.

THE MORETON BAY DISCOVERY CENTRE & MUSEUM The Centre has recently installed a new wall of interesting facts about Dugongs in Moreton Bay, alongside our full-size adult Dugong.

Visitors to the Centre can discover more about the FishID aquatic monitoring system, St Helena Island, Fort Lytton National Park, Shellfish reef restoration project by OzFish and Shorebirds. Children will find a small library of marine themed books and puzzles.

The Centre can be found on William Gunn Jetty just along from Manly Pool. Entry is through the adjacent Wynnum Manly Tourism & Visitor Information Centre, open 9am - 3pm, 7 days a week.

Margaret also has a special passion for the Manly Dragon Boat Club which she has sponsored for 10 years and paddled with them competitively for 5 years. Margaret is lucky enough to be participating in the International Dragon Boat Federation Club Crew World Championships (IDFCCWC) that is being held in Italy mid next year.

Her giving has been recognised by Raine & Horne with the honour of winning the 2022 National Community Engagement & Excellence Award.

Margaret’s style, as Principal Agent and Owner of an established family real estate business, is to build trust and empathise with the buyer using her negotiation skills. Integrity is at the heart of working with any buyer and seller. She says she is “here to serve and look after the people she helps.”

A particular joy is the success of the Lato Baio and Cinema development in Berrima Street. The build had reached the 2nd floor when the COVID outbreak began but the apartments sold out within 6 months, with the majority moving from within 5-7kms. She is rightly proud of how she and her team put the development together and was personally involved in many of the sales.

The future of Wynnum is bright she says with a vibrant CBD growing with niche retailers, cafes, bars and restaurants. The music scene is burgeoning with regular events at D&W Republic and the new monthly Gigs on the Greene, held at Greene Park on Fox Street. It’s becoming a “Destination” says Margaret and a lifestyle choice for many. Margaret will continue to serve, connect and enjoy ‘her people’ with passion.
