The project emphasises materials that are reclaimed from the localised existing sources, focusing on timber prefabrication components ultimately to provide an aesthetic, affordable social housing with 138 units that blends into the rural landscape. Passive design systems are pivotal, focusing on structure orientation for natural light and thoughtful communal/private space arrangements, resulting in cost-efficient cross-ventilation. Materials are chosen for their eco-friendliness, ensuring equitable access to outdoor spaces for all units. The architectural ensemble and the surrounding rural landscape foster a profound connection. Moreover, the significance of a modular unit layout lies in its ability to expand horizontally, accommodating the diverse profiles and evolving needs of different residents. Typlogies from single, students, and nuclear families to retired couples, aim to provide an extraordinary connection between groups. The exceptional public spaces not only serve as essential amenities for the community but also play a pivotal role in defining the elevated standard of collective housing, an exchange place for residents from different groups.

The choice of materials is based on the analysis of the embedded carbon during production and the ecological footprint for transporting. Selecting as much reused material as possible, prefabrication products for reducing construction costs and the most essential parts are the end life of the materials, ensuring it can be reused or recycled.

The project seeks to tackle the challenging site conditions of the enterprise park, which is situated below two massive railways, leading to a confined feeling. The primary objective of the design is to create a library that offers an answer to this predicament by providing open and floating spaces. The key feature of the design is the use of platforms instead of traditional architectural elements like walls to separate internal spaces. These platforms are suspended at varying heights, creating distinct levels for various programs. The design also features a central void and ramp circulation to promote seamless flow between the levels, emphasising the idea of “loose.” Moreover, the contrast between lower and upper levels in terms of materials and light conditions aims to enrich the spatial experiences between spaces. The library aims to serve as a space for people to explore, learn, and share, with clear circulation directions and program arrangement that guides this journey.

The project aims to design a public music garden in Melbourne City, offering spaces for musical performances and moments of relaxation within the dynamic urban setting. Commencing the design process with a focus on figure-ground experimentation, explored the potential of open and pavilion spaces. Landscape decisions were informed by considerations such as sunlight exposure, biological analysis of plantations, and the strategic use of varying heights of ground differentiation to define spaces and blended natural elements with architectural features aligned with the project's concept. The public garden is crafted to provide a platform for musical artists spanning diverse genres. Simultaneously, they serve as spaces for emerging indie artists to showcase their talents, offering dedicated music creation and practice areas. A carefully designed circulation path guides the public on an immersive journey alongside the artists and enhances the overall experience.

Federation Square Office Building
The project seeks to conceptualise an office building near Federation Square. The preliminary design is taken from an elevation sketch drawing proposed by a simulated architectural director in the industry.
Architectural Tectonics
The primary focus of the project is applying diverse architectural systems strategically employed to address site-specific challenges and issues such as overheating from sunlight, noise from the railways, accessibility and workspace arrangement flexibility. This process is carefully documented through a set of construction drawings, ensuring the practicality and feasibility of the design are upheld.

TRAIN RAILWAYS
EVENING SUNLIGHT
ACOUSTIC
The west side has an adjacent car park which also needs to concern privacy and the distance between the car park and the building is quite far, therefore, the west side evening sun would directly penetrate the building and be an issue for the west side of the building.
Due to the adjacent railway, acoustic became one of the primary design responses required
FEDERATION SQUARE EASTERN ACCESS RD
THE NORTHERN SUNLIGHT
VERTICAL LOUVRE The west facade has installed a series of long horizontal louvres to avoid the evening sun from overheating the building and creating glare issues. Also, the vertical louvre is building from the ground to the top of the building which creates a continuous flow for anesthetics. While it can still have enough spaces between blades for natural ventilation.
14
AIRLOCK SPACE
Since the north side didn't have any adjacent buildings which means the north sunlight would directly penetrate the building which may lead to the overheating problem during summer
The two entrances have an airlock space for separating the outside and the foyer, this aims to create a buffer zone that could help keep the inside temperature more stable. Also, the space has installed entrance mats which could help get rid of the shoes' dirt and water from outside, for a better indoor environment.
DOUBLE SKIN FACADE The main idea of a double-skin facade system is to use an extra layer of glazing panels which could help block the noise from the adjacent railways and still provide a large view toward the northern city line.

The gabion wall is closed to the south side of the building which may potentially lead to sound reverberation from 12.130 the north railways The ground level of the site would mostly depend on the south entrance next to the car park, this means the arrangement of the entrance door to the south side is essential
THE SOUTH FACADE
4.165
In order to avoid sound reverberation by the close gabion wall, the design aims to create less opening to minimise the sound entering the building and chooses to use precast concrete panels and aluminum cladding panels which help to absorb the sound to ensure the acoustic quality of the south side of the building.

The foyer and pantry spaces are using tiles that are in a dark tone which could benefit from maintenance since those spaces would have more frequent for people walking on and for drinking and eating which may more potentially require cleaning up. For the workspace, choosing the carpet for a more cosy feeling and also help to absorb the sounds.
The stairs are integrated with seats that provide a reading and resting space for people.
Downpipes are located on the exterior side of the facades and fulfilled the NCC requirement for no more than 12m between downpipes

The space of the two glazing layers is wider than the normal double glaze system which has a 100mm cavity that could more effectively block traffic noise entering the building.
12
Installed in between the two foyer spaces for alternative space use purposes, when the operable door opens, the two spaces become a large foyer connected with the stair seats for potential group activity.
The horizontal louvers are installed in between the double skin facade and floors which work as a shading system for high-angle summer sun in the noon time while could allow low-angle winter sun to penetrate into the building.
OPERABLE WALLS
1
THE DOUBLE GLAZING
The foyer's north side would not have a double skin facade since it requires less acoustic performance compared to the workspace, but still, the long width spacing double glazed window would help block the traffic noise.

Timber oak sill for covering the window frame
Aluminum window frame welded with the flashing to prevent water from entering and guiding the rainwater out of the window frame
The rainwater head is half embedded into the concrete wall for a better appearance and also reserves space for the horizontal shading louvers. The component collected water from the box gutters and drainage into the downpipes.
The cavity between two walls would help create airflow from the bottom to the top of the building which would help ventilate the hot air out during summertime

The roof has a 2-degree slope toward both sides and is connected with box gutters for water drainage, while the use of a parapet wall help guides the rainwater into the inner box gutters instead of the outside of the facade. The extensive green roof is installed on the north side which is beneficial for slowing down the process of storm-water drainage.

This method is used due to its cost-effectiveness and durability, as it uses a flexible connection which could reduce lots of construction costs and time while providing enough strength to support the concrete panel. Also, it can resist weather situations, and prevent corrosion after a long period. All the windows have installed rolling shade blinds for providing privacy when required and the alternative situation of not wanting natural light entering

Sealing and bolt connected two aluminum panels
Instead of using a concrete structure system as the bottom level, the top level change to a light steel structure since there are no longer required to support heavy load-bearing from the upper level and also could reduce the construction costs.
