Location : Auroville, Tamil Nadu Category : School Design Software’s Used : AutoCAD, Sketchup, Lumion Individual Project

The school design concept centers on a deep connection with nature, emphasizing natural elements like earth, trees, and water. Inspired by local architecture, the school promotes informal interactions and social relations among students, accommodating both introverted and extroverted personalities.

Natural light and ventilation are prioritized using innovative techniques, and sustainable materials like rammed earth and bamboo are extensively utilized.

Smaller initmate spaces are made between classrooms in terms of courtyards and bigger open spaces like a playground is designed in the middle of the classroom block.

The design embodies eco-friendly principles, creating a holistic learning environment while respecting the cultural beliefs of the Auroville community.

Individual Project

The design centers on a play space intricately woven into the site’s natural landscape, ensuring a tailored integration.

Its core feature is a central textured rampway divided into four sections: a gripped ramp for crawling, a regular ramp for walking, a flat path for exploration, and a slide for fun.

This setup offers diverse activities while harmonizing with the environment, emphasizing symbiosis among its elements. The design not only encourages physical play but also nurtures a profound connection between children and nature.

The dried tree trunks on the ground act as seating spaces for the children.

The upper right corner of the site is populated by dense trees that provide ample shade to the ground and hence the space can be used as a resting space

The mangrove like branches serves as an activity space for the children.
