Obituaries NICHOLAS J. DI NONNO
Nicholas J. Di Nonno, 80, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021. Born in Newark, he lived in North Arlington for the past 45 years. He worked as a car inspector for Amtrak in Queens for 38 years before retiring in 2012. He proudly served in the United States Army in the 1960s. He was a member of the Kip Center in Rutherford. Nicholas was the beloved husband of Roseann Di Nonno (nee Petrocelli); and the cherished father of Joann Di Nonno. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Queen of Peace Church, North Arlington. The interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. The family would appreciate donations made in his memory to Queen of Peace Care & Share (food panty), 10 Franklin Place, North Arlington, N.J. 07031.

JESSIE M. SMILLIE
Jessie M. Smillie (nee Dickson) died July 31, 2021. Jessie was born in Sorbie, a small village in Scotland. She immigrated to the USA in 1956, spending most of her life in Kearny, then moved to Netcong to be closer to her daughter in 1999. Jessie will be remembered for her gentle nature and her wonderful Scottish baking. She was the true meaning of a lady. Jessie worshipped her family; she leaves behind her devoted daughter Anne and son-in-law Brian; her grandchildren Eric, Lisa and her husband Robert gave her great joy and love, her great-grandchildren Callum, Ella, Cecilia and Lily, who were the apples of her eye. Jessie will be missed by all. She also had many nieces and nephews both here and in
Scotland. A funeral Service was celebrated in the funeral home. Burial was in Arlington Cemetery, Kearny. The Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, Kearny, was in charge. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington, would be appreciated.
RICHARD F. BUBENAS
Richard F. Bubenas, 64, of Ocean Gate, formerly of Kearny, died Aug. 1, 2021. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Kearny. Cremation was private. The Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, Kearny, was in charge. Born in Kearny, Richard was a lifelong resident until moving to Ocean Gate five years ago.
