We chose Knubian to be this issue‘s Artist To Watch based off of how he move and his ability to grind the way he do! We love a Artist that shows strength, tenacity, intelligence and ambition! Those are ultimate qualities of an Artist To Watch! The drive one has to have to tackle this music industry and avoid the devil’s playground is like no other! We love the heights that Knubian us reaching and we want him to go as far as possible. Nothing is impossible when you know exactly what it is you want and you’re gonna get that by any means. Where are you from born and raised?

Born & Raised in Tampa, FL!

What was the turning point for you where you decided to do music?

Well I grew up making music with my brother & cousins since I was 10 years young, but what made me take my artistry serious was after I had the opportunity to work with Todrick Hall for the “Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels” music video as a background dancer! Also, watching one of my Idols “Big Freedia” gave me the courage to put myself out there as a Queer Artist and be confident doing it.

What artist would you say keep you going?

I would have to say The Queen Diva Big Freedia.

Freedia has done so many iconic things from being a international star, having her own television show for multiple seasons, and working with Queen Muva Beyoncé not once but on two projects. I aspire to be just as great!

What was your first dream before being an artist?

My first dream was to be a music director.

You have dropped some good music videos but the one that shook everyone up was “Left Right”! Tell us about that one!

Whew!!! The music video for “Left Right” took A LOT to create. It’s probably the most expensive thing I’ve ever paid for, but well worth it. I started planning the video about 6 months in advance. I knew I wanted to create something that would shocking so I put myself out there ass-naked with bold make up on. It was definitely all about giving a “bad bitch” statement. A moment of elevation.

Do you enjoy doing music videos? These days they do cost a lot!

I LOVE making music videos. However, they are super expressive and as an independent artist, it’s hard to be consistent with them if you don’t have the budget behind you. Especially if you aim to create videos of QUALITY. I’m always trying to out do my previous video/project.

Are there any gay artist you got your eyes on right now to collab with?

Absolutely! I want to collab with SevnDeep, love him.

Saucy Santana, we’re both from Florida so I know it would just give Florida vibes, love what he’s doing in the industry also. Lastly, Big Freedia would be a dream come true!

Recently we saw the retiring of both Young KSB & Black Fairy! What’s your take on it?

It actually mad me sad to see them both step away from music. Especially because they were so good at creating. Black Fairy and I are from the same city so we’ve gotten to know each other well. After going through such loss as he did, I definitely can empathize with why he decided to retire. I do hope that they both find their way back to the beat though!

You just dropped the new single “No Scrubs”! How is that performing for you?

“No Scrubs” is doing well in comparison to my last release. I’ve been receiving so much love and even got other artists bidding their verse for the remix.

Are you looking to remix it as well?

Yes, I’m more than likely going to remix it with two artists since it is named after the TLC classic. That’s the vibe I want to give visually for the music video.

How does it feel to be chosen for GABOR’S “Artist To Watch”?

It honestly feels AMAZING! I see myself as the underdog in so many situations. I work really hard as an artist because it’s my passion, I love to entertain and create music so to be chosen as “Artist To Watch” makes me feel seen and heard. And the noise is only gonna get louder! I’m grateful.

Did you enjoy shooting for the magazine?

I had so much fun shooting for the magazine. Started off a bit nervous, but the photographer made it such a smooth experience.

What all can we expect before this year is over?

Y’all can expect at least two sickening music videos, more collaborations with other artists on projects, more live performances and my second released EP before 2022 is over.
