TODAY’S KET

Kentucky’s history isn’t just a record of the past — it’s what defines us as Kentuckians. At KET, we believe preserving and sharing this history is essential.

As an eighth-generation Kentuckian, I’m proud that KET explores and preserves Kentucky’s history, heritage, people and places. From productions like The History of Northern Kentucky , The Story of Bluegrass Music and Kentucky’s Last Great Places to the thousands of segments featured through the years on Kentucky Life , we go beyond dates and milestones to truly explore who we are and how we came to be.

Last year we were honored to present our look at 250 years of Lexington history. And we’re actively working on a similar project that will celebrate Louisville’s 250th anniversary in 2028. Check out the special collection of programs we’re presenting during Kentucky History Month, as well as the vast archive of history programs available on our website or through the PBS app.

As you explore them, you’ll see why preserving and sharing Kentucky’s stories is at the heart of our public service. And it’s made possible through the generous support of viewers like you.

Shae Hopkins KET Executive Director and CEO Sincerely,

“It’s easy to feel the affection that Diane Medley and Prewitt Lane have for their native state, from the panoramic views of the Ohio River from their Louisville home to the works of Kentucky artists that grace their walls. Their civic and philanthropic activities in the Commonwealth span education, public policy, land conservation and the arts. And they turn to KET to feed their interests in current events and the state’s history and attractions.

“There are lots of shows on about the parks, about restaurants or an interesting story about a place, even if it’s not a famous place, [that] is fun to go visit,” says Medley. “So, I think KET’s probably the best way to learn about Kentucky.”

several British dramas as well as Antiques Roadshow, but they especially appreciate KET’s public affairs coverage, which they describe as timely and informative.

“We really enjoy the shows that Renee Shaw does,” says Medley. “We really enjoy the balance that she brings to the news and interviews that she does with various people.”

“I think KET’s probably the best way to learn about Kentucky.”
- Diane Medley

Medley is a CPA who co-founded one of the region’s leading accounting firms and is a former chair of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. She grew up in Meade County watching early KET science and outdoors programs. Lane, a chartered financial analyst who serves as a trustee of the Kentucky Retirement System, proudly notes he’s visited all 120 counties. The Mount Sterling native says his interest in finance and economics made him a fan of the old Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser. Today they follow

“We’ve gotten into a media-driven world where it’s almost impossible to tell fact from fiction from someone’s own opinions. And that’s not what KET does,” says Lane.

“KET and PBS are there with not their viewpoint, but with what’s happening.”

The couple served as honorary chairs of KET’s February Fanfare gala this year, helping to raise funds for the network’s programs and services. Given their shared backgrounds in accounting and finance, Medley says they seek to support forward-looking organizations like KET that are well run, have a wide reach and advance the greater good.

“I believe that KET is one of the best ways to stay informed, to learn, to have entertainment in a very efficient and cost-effective way,” she says. “KET is super important for this state, and we want to make sure it continues its mission.”

THE FINAL CHAPTER

In the final season, we return to Grantchester in the summer of 1963, and each character is standing at a crossroads that will shape their future. Alphy’s growing connection with the bishop’s daughter, Meg, coincides with more discoveries about his past and the life he might have lived. Geordie enjoys a period of relative calm with Cathy and their family, but a tempting offer from his commanding officer threatens to upend everything. Leonard, too, faces quiet yet profound change as caring for a neighbor’s son awakens a paternal side he never knew existed. With themes of family, forgiveness, faith and introspection, Grantchester’s last chapter promises self-discovery, hope and transformation.

2,500 for the 250th New Sustainer Challenge

In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, KET has set a goal of securing 2,500 new monthly Sustaining donors before July 4, 2026. This effort is building on the trust of We the People – the public in public television – who have stepped up in the face of federal funding cuts.

Please consider converting your one-time annual gift to an ongoing monthly Sustaining donation at KET.org/Join2500.

When we reach our 2,500 new Sustainer goal, an anonymous donor will contribute an additional $10,000 to KET!
