T he faculty are com m itted to o fferin g quality courses that will serve as a basis for continued education. In addition, the courses serve as a supportive fram ew ork for the technical and professional disciplines of the college. It is the goal of the faculty in H um anities to help produce educated students who can th in k critically, as well as analytically, and fu nction effectively whereever they are called to serve.

W h at can I tell you about D orm Life? D o I tell you about the seventy dorm room s and two apartm ents at Southdale or about our “C a stle ?" (four room s at the house on the corner.)

D o I tell you about Edna and Bessie, our H ousekeepers, w ho clean daily the clutter the students m ake? O r about our nig h t crew, C arl and Eunice, w ho clean the perpetual evening m ess?

Perhaps you would like to hear of Jerry , B ill, George and M ik e, w ho take care of num erous tasks. T hey put away the m ail amid the "Y ay , I got m ail," or “W h y don't I ever hear from anyb od y?!" T hey answ er phone calls w hich pour in amid the questions of "W a s it a male or fem ale vo ice?", "Y o u n g or o ld ?", "W h y didn't you tell him I'm o u t?", "D id he sound cu te?"

M ostly days are made up of "T u rn your stereo dow n", "It's so noisy I can 't stud y", "m y roommate doesn't understand m e" "m y boyfriend broke up w ith m e", "m y favorite football team lo st", "I'm depressed", "I'm not feeling w ell"; but then there are the days of som eone saying; " I passed my exam in A nato­ m y and P h ysiology ", "m y boyfriend is com ­ ing to see m e", "can I have a h u g ", "here are some flow ers because I want you to know I care." Yes, there are bad days and good days, and I would not trade one of them.
