Amram Altzman has shaped the field of LGBTQ Jewish youth work for a decade with love, wit, and insight. As a teen, he started the first Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) at a Modern Orthodox Jewish day school, then helped to launch Keshet’s first LGBTQ and Ally Teen Shabbaton weekend retreat 10 years ago, and today is Keshet’s Associate Director of Youth Programs.

S. Bear Bergman is a groundbreaking writer, educator, and activist. The author of nine books and the founder of Flamingo Rampant press, Bear helped start the first-ever GSA and now advances equity in education and trans cultural competency in business, government, and non-profit arenas.

KOHENET KESHIRA HALEV FIFE Hachamat Lev Honoree

Kohenet Keshira haLev Fife is a nationally known Kohenet (Hebrew priestess), community weaver, educator, musician, and speaker on Jewish spirituality, activism, and leadership. She co-led Keshet’s 2022 LGBTQ Jewish Youth of Color Collective.

Carson Gleberman is a longtime Keshet board member, nonprofit leader, and ally who has been instrumental to Keshet’s growth and success over many years. She is also a Broadway producer and current board chair of Page 73, which supports playwrights such as Michael R. Jackson, Tony Award-winner for AStrangeLoop .

Liz Alpern is co-founder of The Gefilteria and co-author of TheGefilte Manifesto: NewRecipesforOldWorldJewishFoods .

She is also the creator of Queer Soup Night, a global event series highlighting the talent of queer chefs while raising funds for locally-based social justice organizations. She is committed to seeing a more just and equitable food system for all.

Our Dear Ami, LGBTQ+ Jewish young people know whom to call on a Sunday at 10pm when they need urgent advice: you! We are so proud to call you our colleague. Through Keshet and beyond, you have grown from pioneering youth leader to pioneering professional. Your "wise heart" inspires a better, brighter, and more joyous world. Mazal tov!
