As always, a quick review: Why does technique matter? Clean technique ensures safety; improper positioning can be damaging as it can led to hurt joints or pulled muscles. Technique is also the foundation for speed and power.

In order to have a strong and quick kick, you must also have great technique.

For every kick, there are four basic steps: chamber, extend, chamber, down.

The following breakdown

Step Two (Fig. 3): Next, we are shifting our weight to our rear leg, while raising our lead leg into a chamber. The chamber itself consists of a bent leg with the bottom of your foot facing the target and your knee is near your chest. (fig. 3).

The most important thing to remember, with any technique, is that form is the most important aspect - more important than speed and power.

Step Three (Fig. 4): From your chamber, extend your foot toward the bag, like a sideways stomp.

The bottom of your foot will make contact with the side of the bag (fig. 4).

Practice the Slide Up Side Kick at home or even on the bag before your next class. If you ever want to go over the side kick or any other technique, ask any coach in the club.

Once you have the technique, then we will add the power.

Tell us about yourself !

Hello my lovely friends, Just wanted to introduce myself to the members that do not already know me. I am Angie and I love being a part of the Kersey Kickboxing Team! A little about me... hmmm.. Well I am a mother to (2) beautiful humans, my son Jayden (14) and daughter Peighton (11), and married to my very lucky husband P.J. (just kidding.. I scored on this deal). All of us stay extremely busy with sports. My son plays travel Base- ball and basketball, my daughter plays travel Volleyball, basket- ball and softball. My husband still plays basketball, football and hard ball (baseball), and I play volleyball all year round. I started working out at the club about 1 year prior to being asked to join this wonderful team. As a member I loved everything about this place, the atmosphere, the members, the trainers, the workouts, the results I was getting... EVERYTHING!.. I love being a train- er, I have been a trainer here now for about 8 years, and I love it even more. As a trainer I bring lots of high, positive energy that is contagious to the members, and I also make sure I’m giving you a challenge. I love to hear how you’re doing and what you are focusing on so I can help you achieve your goals. As you now know I keep myself extremely busy, so I train the Thursday 6:30 class, but I am usually seen around the gym working out with all of you in the evenings. If you see me, please introduce yourself and challenge me to remember your name. Fun fact about me.. I’m just a little bit competitive. (insert sarcasm here). The Kersey Kickboxing team is like family to everyone, every trainer here is amazing and all have something special they bring to

each of their classes. (I love them all).

What is your favourite recipe?

Skor Chocolate Trifle Ingredients: • 2 Packages of Chocolate Mousse • 1 Large Tub Cool Whip • 3 Skor Chocolate Bars • 1 Package of Brownie Mix Steps: 1. Make the Brownies in 8x8 pan 2. Allow to cool 3. Crumble 1/2 the brownies in the bottom of a trifle dish 4. Make mousse according to package’s directions 5. Crumble two Skor bars and mix into mousse 6. Layer 1/2 the mousse mixture over the brownies in the bowl 7. Spread 1/2 the Cool Whip 8. Layer 2nd 1/2 of crumbled brownies, then a second layer of mousse 9. Add the remaining Cool Whip, then crumble the third Skor bar and sprinkle on top
