In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I would like to have a nice festive dinner for the Brotherhood at Saturday’s chapter meeting. I’m asking Brothers, their wives or girlfriends to contribute food for this special event. This weekend’s meeting is fast approaching; please send me a note on what you would like to bring. ALPHAS IN THE COMMUNITY

Submitted by Bro. Devynne Espeut Chairman, Kappa Phi Lambda Community Service Committee

On October 24, the Kappa Phi Lambda Community Service Committee hosted a food drive and collected donations for the Howard County Food Bank. The event was held at the Giant located on Cradlerock Way in the Owen Brown community. Many thanks to Bro. Brandon Barrett for organizing this important event. Several ΚΦΛ Brothers and Giant shoppers came out to donate items. This was the first of four planned events that the committee will be hosting this fraternal year. Please be on the lookout for future activities.

The Mid-Atlantic Association of Alpha Phi Alpha Chapters (MAAC) Founders’ Day Celebration will take place on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at the Metro Points Hotel in New Carrollton, MD. Bro. Mark Tillman, the 34th General President of the fraternity will be the guest speaker. Ticket prices are $35 for adults and $20 for children 12 years and under. If you’re interested in purchasing a ticket, please send an email to: David.Raphael-1@nasa.gov.

In an effort to provide greater stability of funding for The Alpha Foundation of Howard County, Inc. going forward, we are undertaking an effort to solicit major sponsors for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast (See Page 2). We believe if we can establish major sponsorships, we can assure the continued success of the AFHC. We hope to be able to obtain multi-year commitments from some of these sources and make it easier to return to the same sources each year. Many thanks to Bro. Avery Pearsall, Bro. Vic Carter, Bro. Opel Jones, I., and Bro. C. Vernon Gray for their participation with this important project.
