MINIMUM EdUCATION

For some craft apprenticeships, some employment focused courses or some pathway courses, a minimum of three years post-primary education or Junior Certificate is essential. Increasingly, a Leaving Certificate is required. For all courses for progression at QQI Level 5, you must have completed your Leaving Cert, LCVP, LCA or have a recent QQI Level 4 Major Award.

MATURE APPLICANTS

A mature applicant route is available for those who don’t meet the minimum educational requirements. To qualify, you must be aged 23 or over on January 1st of the year the course starts.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Competent English is required for all courses. For non-native English speakers, we consider CEFR B1 as the minimum standard for QQI Level 5, and CEFR B2 for QQI Level 6 and courses which involve technical language. Please contact our Admissions Office if you feel you need English language supports or need to be assessed.

NON-EU/EEA APPLICANTS

Non-EU/EEA applicants must have permission to work in Ireland. Additional entry requirements may vary depending on the course.

THE AdMISSIONS INTERvIEW

The purpose of the admissions interview is to pre-screen for work practice and industry placement and to assess which applicants will gain the most from joining one of our programmes. In preparation for the interview, consider why you've applied for the course, study the entry requirements, course modules and certification, be able to describe the knowledge, skills and experience you wish to develop and what your plan is after the course.
