National Dance Day 2026 is focused on celebrating all movers and groovers with joyous classes, workshops, seminars, and performances featuring local, national, and internationally renowned artists. The day will also feature a vendor marketplace focused on health, wellness, and promoting an improved quality of life.
Commemorating a day meant to inspire all walks of life to keep moving, National Dance Day will offer an experience for every community member. Celebrated annually at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Los Angeles and the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, KDA will host our national dance holiday at Dignity Health Arena, Theater & Convention Center on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

ABOUT KDA
KDA is a nonprofit arts advocacy organization dedicated to supporting, strengthening, and advancing dance and the arts throughout Kern County and California's Central Valley.
For more than a decade, KDA has elevated the region through innovative arts programs, strategic partnerships, arts education, advocacy, and grantmaking. We believe the arts are a powerful catalyst for education, health, economic vitality, and community connection. Through collaborative initiatives, KDA has strengthened literacy and math achievement, improved quality of life for individuals living with dementia and disabilities, expanded access to the arts for underserved communities, and created meaningful opportunities for artists of all ages and backgrounds. Today, KDA is recognized as one of the Central Valley's leading arts organizations, having served more than 200,000 community members, invested over $6 million into local arts initiatives, and supported hundreds of artists, educators, and nonprofit organizations.
In 2025, KDA was named the Outstanding Dance Education Organization of the Year by the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO), recognizing the organization's leadership, innovation, and commitment to making dance and the arts accessible and inclusive for all.
ABOUT NATIONAL DANCE DAY | AMERICAN DANCE MOVEMENT
Established in 2010 by American Dance Movement (ADM) co-founder, Nigel Lythgoe, and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, National Dance Day is an annual celebration dedicated to dance that encourages Americans of all ages to incorporate dance into their lives as a form of exercise and expression.
ADM believes that participation in dance connects the mind and body, promotes health and wellbeing, connects us with others and enables us to find joy through dance and movement. National Dance Day is a day of celebrating dance, in all its forms, and takes place annually on the third Saturday in September.
