KCCL Honors New JD Graduates

Kern County College of Law held its second graduation ceremony on May 21, 2022 at the outdoor arena at Bakersfi eld College. Sixteen students received their Juris Doctor degrees on a balmy, breezy afternoon.

The welcome was delivered by Monterey College of Law Board of Trustee member Claudia Catota. Monterey College of Law President and Dean, Mitch Winick, conferred the degrees while parents and friends of the graduates aided in the hooding exercise. Kern County Superior Court Judge David Zulfa gave the commencement address.
West Publishing Awards for Outstanding Academic Achievement were given to Jazmin Barba and Brenda Rizo. The graduate address was delivered by Ana Ovando. The outstanding faculty member award was given to Hunter Starr. A special recognition award was presented to Campus Administrator Bobbie Hernandez. education in December of 2021. Six of the class members passed the February State Bar examination and are now joining the Kern County legal community.
Kern County College of law is a branch campus of Monterey College of Law and is accredited by the State Bar of California.
C.M. Bud Starr is the Campus Dean for the Kern County College of Law. Starr retired after 27 years in law from his position as Deputy District Attorney in Kern County.
