One of ourmost exciting accomplishments is providing over$500,000 a yearinscholarships through our23scholarshipfunds, to students enriching their life inhighereducation. Everyyear,we award scholarships to future nurses, mechanics, farmers, teachers, andengineers. Togetherwe havecreateda perpetual sourceof support benefiting generations of Lee County, Southeast Iowa, Northeast Missouri and WesternIllinois students ontheirjourney to college.

In 2020,The LeeCountyImpactGrantwascreated bytheLeeCountyCharitable Fund to provide a larger fundingimpactand addressneedsinour LeeCountycommunities.In 2024,the CityofDonnellsonreceived the third $25,000 LeeCountyImpactGrantfor theWestview TrailsProject.
TheLee CountyImpactGrantwillprovide fundingfora new 10-footwide,half-mile long, limestone,multi-use trailthatwillconnectto theexistingsealcoattrailand traverse the southern portionofthe park fromwestto east,before runningnorthwardalongthe eastern boundary.
Thisadditionwillcompletea one-mile loop and link to the existingtrailentrancenear Burlington Streetand Westwood Court.ResidentsofDonnellsonwillbenefitfromimproved park facilities,offeringenhanced opportunitiesforexercise,recreation andnatureactivities. In addition tohealthbenefits,theprojectissufficientto enhance Donnellson'svisibility.The improvedamenitiesatWestview Parkare expected toattractmore events,suchastheannual baseball,softball,and disc golftournaments.Touriststravelingalongthe Historic HillsScenic Bywayor theMormon Pioneer NationalHistoric Trailwillalso be more inclinedto stopatthe park andexploreDonnellson’sbusinessesandrestaurants.

In July2023,GeorgeLouisDonald Eichackerpassed away,he was93.Asoneofthe founders oftheKeokukArea CommunityFoundation,George’sserviceand leadershipenabled the foundation toflourish,growand expand itsreachfar beyond LeeCounty.
George firmlybelieved in givingback tothe communitywithtime andmoney.He servedas the managingtrustee ofseveralprivate charitable foundations.In 2007,theKeokuk Area CommunityFoundation named George asitsfirstDirector Emeritusin recognition ofhis role in the establishmentofthe foundation.Wealsohonored George bycreatingthe Eichacker Award for Philanthropy,which honorsan individualor familyfor their sustained and generouscommitmentto philanthropy,charitable giving,and volunteer service in the Tri-State Area.

MONTROSE FIRE &RESCUE
Itwasanearlymorningwhena house fire occurred.Veryfew firefightersresponded.The firewaslargeand spreadingveryquickly. Montrose Fire& Rescuewereable to setup the monitor.The monitorallowed themto move to another location tocontinue battling the fire and tryingtogetitfromspreadingany further.
Byusinga grantfromthe LeeCounty CharitableFund,the firemonitor allowsthe fightersto able toputwater on apropane tank.The monitorpreventsexplosionswhile the departmentworksto getthe larger fires out.Itislike havinganextrapersonon each call,the monitor freesupmanpower when theyrelysolelyon volunteers.
CENTRALLEEHIGHSCHOOLSTUDENTSOARLEADERSHIP
TheCLHSGrowingLeadersprogramissimplyaboutgrowinggood people.This programisa studentlead programthatfocuseson socialskills,employabilityskills,and life skillsto better preparehighschoolersfor life beyond highschool.Schoolsare tasked withmeetingtheacademic needsofstudentsand providingresourcestodo so.Itisalso imperative thatschoolsnurture socialskillsand leadershipskills,guaranteeing graduatesa successfultransition posthighschool.
Thisgrantfromthe LeeCountyCharitable Fund provided the StudentSOAR Leadership Teamfundingto purchase curriculumand materials.These resources provide a varietyofopportunitiesand activitiesfor studentsto learn suchskillsin real world settingsunder teacher and administration supervision.Over 40 students participated in theprogram, to learnmore visitcentrallee.org.

TheKeokuk Saddle Club,servingKeokuk in LeeCountysince 1943,hasmadea comebackwitha grand openingandnew arena atJoyce Park.Since 2017,The Keokuk SaddleClubhasbeen building,fundraising,and planningthenew Joyce Park Arena.The Keokuk AreaCommunityFoundation isproud to have supported the vision ofthe Keokuk SaddleClubwithover $14,000 in grant fundingsince 2017.

MONTROSETOWNSHIPHISTORICIALSOCIETY
On June 29,2023,a derecho hitthe smallcommunityofMontrosecausing untolddamage to buildingsand trees.Itblewdown severaltreeson the groundsofSt. Barnabas,includingone whichlandedon theroof.To preventfurther damage,the tree had to be promptlyremoved.Witha grantfromtheKeokuk AreaCommunity Foundation GrantFund,Montrose TownshipHistoricalSocietywasable to repair thedamage to the chapel,mend the tuckpointand clean the dryrotatthe frontentrance ofthechapel. Continuingrepairsare ongoing.
