The Snowmass herd is world renowned as an example of some of the finest animals alive.

Their health, vigor, and beautiful phonetypes are truly remarkable. Their luxuriant fiber is avidly sought after by other top breeders and most especially textile manufacturers. The demand and understanding for FINENESS and bright, elite alpaca fiber is now one of the guiding principles for breeders.

The Process

Our breeding program has reached a 30-year goal of more than 90% of the Snowmass herd possessing tested fleece of Ultra Royal (1317), Royal (18-19), and Baby Grade (20-22.5).

Snowmass Alpaca is a third-generation ranch located in the Selkirk Mountains of Sandpoint, Idaho.

The Product

Snowmass Alpacas is the first breeder to bale enough ultra-royal grade alpaca fiber from their herd to commercially produce, from beginning to end, unique heirloom alpaca textiles. The Snowmass alpaca fiber was handled by the experts hands of Peruvian mill masters and craftsmen to showcase Snowmass Genetics and to set an example of the possibilities of what Ultra Royal alpaca fibers can produce. We hope this endeavor inspires textile designers to team up with us to put alpaca at the forefront of luxury.
