Dear colleagues, On 7th April, KNH joined the rest of the world to mark World Health Day. The event is celebrated annually. Each year draws attention to a specific health topic of concern to people all over the world. This year’s theme was ‘Our planet, our health’.

The date also marks the anniversary of the founding of World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948.

In the midst of a pandemic, a polluted planet, increasing cases of diseases like cancer, asthma and heart disease, the day focused on global attention on urgent actions needed to keep humans and the planet healthy as well as foster a movement to create societies focused on well-being. WHO estimates that more than 13 million deaths around the world each year are due to avoidable environmental causes. This includes the climate crisis which is the single biggest health threat facing humanity. The climate crisis is also a health crisis.

At Kenyatta National Hospital, we celebrate our caregivers who work tirelessly round the clock to provide quality and specialized health care to our patients.
