2015 KENTUCKY WESLEYAN COLLEGE Dear Student: Let’s get this school year started! The Wesleyan campus is ready for your arrival, or your return, depending on your status. Many things are happening in preparation for you. Each day on this campus is a wonderful day for me, but it isn’t quite the same without you here every day (I must admit that from time to time I have to stop and make sure the new Panther statue in front of the Winchester Center understands you are coming back, as this was its first summer … ). The new Kendall Hall will be ready for you, and it will be an amazing residence hall and a great addition to our campus. The new Panther’s Den will be finished in the Winchester Center by the time you return. It will now be located between Jazzman’s and the fireplace in the Winchester Center to make room for the new Center for Engaged Teaching and Learning. The Center is part of a $2.1 million grant Wesleyan was awarded in competition with other colleges and universities across the country. This Center will be a tremendous addition and supplement to your education. You will hear much more about this exciting and cutting edge initiative when you return. You probably heard that Wesleyan accounting students had the highest average score on the CPA exam compared to all other colleges and universities in Kentucky. This is even more evidence of the great faculty available to you and is proof of the caliber of our students. Owensboro Living Magazine readers voted Wesleyan the Best Local College in the area. On August 28 (just a few days after you return), Wesleyan will host Friday After 5 downtown on the riverfront! There will be music, games, food and tons of fun. You certainly need to be there showing off your Wesleyan purple and letting everyone know how connected we are to this community. Please know that you are a special person at a special college. Each of you is a powerful ingredient to what IS Wesleyan. The Wesleyan Way is for, about and because of all of us together, and I am so excited to see you soon and start an incredible year. Remember to look for the Panther statue wearing a purple scarf near the beginning of the semester — that means we will be grilling out behind the President’s House … it won’t be long! I hope you had a fantastic summer and are as ready as I am to have one of the greatest years ever at Wesleyan! Hurry up and get here … I have missed you!
