Dear Kent Place Community,
As I reflect on the 2024–2025 academic year, I do so with a full heart. This year marked the end of two meaningful journeys for me — my tenure as a Kent Place Trustee, which began in 2018, and my time as a current parent, as my daughter Evelyn, who started KPS in fourth grade, is now a proud Kent Place alumna.
Serving as Chair of the Board for the past four years has been an extraordinary honor. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a school that is unwavering in its mission to educate young women to be confident, intellectual, and ethical leaders. I’ve witnessed firsthand the strength and generosity of this incredible community — and am humbled by it.
Over the past year, we’ve seen extraordinary growth in support of Kent Place. The 2024–2025 Kent Place Fund closed with a record-breaking $2.25 million in gifts. Parent participation reached new heights. Alumnae rallied on Founders Day, unlocking an additional $25,000 through their generosity. Membership in both the Oak Leaf Society and the Heritage Society increased. The dedication of our parent and alumnae volunteers was again inspirational. Together, you’ve demonstrated that your belief in our mission is stronger than ever — and your support makes everything we do possible.
I want to express my overwhelming gratitude to my fellow Trustees, as well as to Head of School Jennifer Galambos for her extraordinary leadership and partnership. It has been a privilege to serve alongside such committed and visionary individuals.
I’m thrilled to welcome Katie (Herbst) Machir ’95 P ’28 as the next Chair of the Board of Trustees. Katie is only the third alumna to hold this position, and she brings with her a unique and powerful perspective — as an alumna, a parent, and a seasoned Trustee. She is exceptionally well positioned to lead the Board through the exciting years ahead, which includes the next phase of the construction of the Leadership Center for Athletics, Wellness, and Performing Arts. This transformational facility, on which we broke ground in June, will elevate our programs in these vital areas and further strengthen the Kent Place experience.
Under Katie’s leadership, the Board will also continue to focus on growing the school’s endowment to ensure its long-term financial sustainability.

Our 130th year was a remarkable one, and I’m filled with profound gratitude for your contributions to the strength and spirit of Kent Place School. Your generosity and steadfast support have enabled us to remain a thriving institution, committed to the growth and development of young women as confident, intellectual, and ethical leaders.
Every day, I witness the impact of your philanthropy — in our classrooms, on the playing fields, on the stage, and in the engagement of our parents and alumnae. That same sense of pride and purpose shines through these pages of our Report of Gifts Each donor, each gift, each volunteer speaks to a community deeply invested in the future of our students.
This year, thanks to your commitment, we closed the 2024–2025 Kent Place Fund with $2.25 million in gifts. Some 1,150 donors came together over a period of 24 hours in March to support our sixthannual Founders Day. Parents and alumnae volunteers gave of their time and talents in meaningful ways. All are a powerful reminder of the strength and unity of our KPS community.
Our Board of Trustees works tirelessly to ensure that both current students and future generations become empowered to lead and thrive. Anne’s dedication has been instrumental in bringing us to a historic moment at Kent Place. On March 5, the Kent Place community came together for our sixth annual Founders Day—a tribute to the bold vision of our founding families and a celebration of 130 years of excellence in academics, athletics, the arts, leadership, and more. This special day is not only about honoring our past but also about looking ahead to a bright future filled with continued growth.
Thanks to the incredible generosity and spirit of our community, Founders Day 2025 was a resounding success. At the heart of this momentum was the 1,000 Gift Challenge, a community-wide call to action. Upon reaching our goal, $155,000 in matching funds — generously provided by our Challenge Match Donors — was unlocked, fueling even greater impact. These visionary leaders inspired hundreds of members of the KPS to join in support of Kent Place and its mission to empower girls who advance the world.

Dear Kent Place Community,
As the new Chief Advancement Officer at Kent Place School, I’m honored and delighted to step into a community as engaged, generous, and forward-thinking as ours. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the many ways you support and sustain Kent Place.
The work of the Advancement Office centers on a single goal: to ensure that Kent Place thrives not only today, but also for generations to come. This is achieved through a strong culture of philanthropy, meaningful relationships with students, families, and alumnae, and the power of dedicated volunteers and strategic partnerships.
This Report of Gifts is more than a list of names and numbers — it’s a celebration of your steadfast belief in Kent Place and your investment in its future. Its length is a testament to the extraordinary commitment of our community, and every entry represents a story of impact and shared purpose.
Thanks to your generosity, Kent Place achieved remarkable milestones this past year:
• The Kent Place Fund crossed the $2 million mark for the second year in a row. We once again achieved the gold standard in participation, with 100% of the Board of Trustees and Alumnae Board, 80% of parents, and 22% of over 3,400 alumnae making a gift.
• You rallied in extraordinary fashion to raise $8.6 million in gifts and pledges in FY25 for the Leadership Center for Athletics, Wellness, and Performing Arts, enabling us to break ground on this project — one that will serve as a hub for the entire community.
• We also increased our endowment and received more than $3M in bequest intentions. The endowment provides a perpetual revenue stream for initiatives such as financial aid and faculty professional development.
These achievements reflect an unwavering belief in the potential of every student who walks through our doors. Your support powers that potential, strengthens our programs, inspires our educators, and opens new pathways for learning and leadership.
In my role, I have the great pleasure of meeting our alumnae who advance the world. Just this year, I’ve met incredible women in a range of careers, from the poet Anne (Harding) Woodworth ’61 to female Ironman Susan Garratt ’55 and from chef, author, restaurateur, and TV personality Judy Joo ’93 to WNBA Deputy General Counsel Jachele Vélez ’07. Each of them — and so many more — credit their Kent Place education with helping to shape who they are today.
Decades from now, another Chief Advancement Officer will visit with accomplished alumnae and learn about the impact of their Kent Place education, and I’m sure those women will mention the cutting-edge Bloomberg Lab, our signature ethics courses, and the transformative Leadership Center for Athletics, Wellness, and Performing Arts.
As we look ahead, I’m filled with excitement. You are a vital part of our community, and together we’re writing the next chapter of Kent Place — I can’t wait to see how our story unfolds.

INVESTING IN THE NEXT GENERATION: The Leadership Center for Athletics, Wellness, and Performing Arts
The past decade has seen much exciting growth, marked by many significant improvements to our campus. From the construction of the Center for Innovation to the establishment of state-of-the-art STEM labs and, most recently, the Bloomberg Lab, we’ve strengthened the facilities that play a crucial role in our mission to empower girls to be confident, intellectual, and ethical leaders who advance the world.
In early 2027, another vision will become a reality: The Leadership Center for Athletics, Wellness, and Performing Arts will open its doors. “This beautiful building speaks to our community’s desire to develop our students’ athletic abilities, enable them to develop their voices through the performing arts, and cultivate a commitment to wellness that ties everything together,” says Head of School Jennifer Galambos. “This facility will be not only the place where leadership happens, but also the place that lifts and elevates leadership.”

The KPS community has responded with great enthusiasm, as demonstrated by the extraordinary fundraising effort to bring the Leadership Center to life. “We’ve received the largest gifts in our history from all of our constituents — parents, grandparents, and alumnae,” says Chief Advancement Officer Beth Gottung. “This initiative touches all members of the KPS community, and everyone is committed to investing in our students.”
Dr. Galambos agrees: “Our families want their daughters and granddaughters to play sports and perform in facilities that match the quality of our programs,” she says. “It’s also important to ensure that our girls understand that they’re valued as much as are students on all-male and coeducational campuses. We want them to know they matter, and investing in our infrastructure in this way underscores our commitment.”
The creation of the Leadership Center is pivotal in the school’s growth, and coincides with an upward trend for women’s philanthropy nationally. According to the Women’s Philanthropy Institute’s Women Give 2024,
donations from women have remained strong despite overall declines in giving for the past two decades — and have even surpassed those of men. Research reveals that although men take part in more transactional giving, women focus on transformational gifts, supporting initiatives that promote social change and collective well-being.
Such is the case with the Leadership Center, says Dr. Galambos.
“The continued growth of agency in women-directed philanthropy is incredibly exciting, and we’re witnessing its power firsthand in the generous support we’ve received for the Leadership Center. In response to our solicitations, we’ve welcomed the largest alumna gift, the largest bequest, and the largest current-family gift in the history of the school. Our constituents understand that supporting girls and women leads to advancement in the world. Our girls will be changemakers, and we want to do everything possible to make sure they’re prepared.”
Members of the Head’s Council — a dedicated group of KPS alumnae and generous supporters who volunteer their time, counsel, and expertise with Dr. Galambos — are equally excited about the Leadership Center.

Says Head’s Council Chair Deborah “Debby” Farrington ’68: “Women are increasingly well educated, earning more, and making their own decisions about how they want to direct their giving. For me, education and the arts are top priorities, and projects such as the Leadership Center are just the type of initiative I believe in. With women’s education,” she says, “it’s particularly important for girls to learn at an early age that women do and increasingly will hold positions of leadership and power in business and society. Indeed, I’ve always felt it’s our duty to do so.”
The new Leadership Center embraces that mandate head-on, Debby says. “This facility has a commanding presence on campus and couldn’t be better named. It asks each student to consider this question: ‘How can I be a leader?’ It will highlight what we can do for our students and provide them with a pedestal from which to speak out. In having a leadership center, we send a powerful message to our students about our priorities and the lessons that can be learned. Kent Place School was the beginning of women’s education for me and foundational to what I’ve accomplished since. I want to support that work for future generations.”
Says Council member Alice “Allie” (Ferrigni) Rooke ’75, “Conversations with Jennifer during my visit to campus this past year gave me an appreciation for the Leadership Center and underscored the importance of this facility in enhancing the educational experience for current and
future KPS students. I’ve always been drawn to ‘bricks-and-mortar’ projects, where thoughtful planning and high-quality design create spaces that foster exceptional learning. Philanthropy, for me, is about laying a strong foundation — both physically and intellectually — for the next generation.”
Allie cites her years at Kent Place as the source of her own strong academic foundation and her confidence, both of which have served her well throughout her life. “Being with my fellow classmates at my 50th reunion, I was reminded of how many accomplished, inspiring women have come through this school,” she says. “In listening to them, I heard genuine excitement about the Leadership Center’s potential to shape student experiences in powerful ways. It represents a commitment to excellence in every aspect of a Kent Place education.”
Classmate and fellow Council member Lori (Arthur) Stroud ’75 agrees. “For Kent Place to retain its standing as a top-notch school, it must have firstrate facilities, and the Leadership Center is an important component,” she says. “Looking at today’s students, I realize that although our experiences are different — the campus and the curriculum have grown tremendously since my time at KPS — the steady focus on education and leadership remains. Kent Place still underscores the importance of being brave and finding your voice, lessons that were very meaningful for me.
“Supporting the development of the next generation of women is important to me,” Lori continues. “I give from my heart to causes that matter personally. My parents always stressed the importance of supporting organizations you value, and I value Kent Place. It was a happy place to go to school; I felt supported by the faculty and enriched by my classmates, whose talents varied widely. I’m very proud of the school and excited about the growth it’s experiencing under Dr. Galambos’s skilled guidance.”
A career professional in fundraising and development, Lori knows how philanthropy can generate excitement, and she’s delighted to see women emerging as an influential giving cohort. “Women like to be engaged,” she says. “They value being heard — and it triggers transformational giving. And active listening is something our Head of School does really well.”
Eleanor “Lili” (White) Durling ’72 is another Head’s Council member who says she’s energized by the Leadership Center and what it represents for Kent Place. “I think it’s fantastic. I wish I were in school there now,” she says. “The facilities are such an improvement — it’s going to be an absolutely amazing place for students to learn and grow through participation in athletics, the arts, and wellness.”

For Head's Council member Gretchen (Pfaff) Riley ’66, the decision to invest in the Leadership Center comes from the idea of paying it forward. “In years past, people gave to make the school we loved, and we need to show our support to make the school the best that it can be today,” she says. “Kent Place gave us the ability to really think as independent women and helped shape our lives. We should give that opportunity to other women, to young women, to help shape their lives.”
Dr. Galambos says she can’t wait for the project to be complete and to be able to see students begin to immerse themselves in all the Leadership Center has to offer. “This building will elevate athletics, wellness, and performing arts in our community — central tenets of how we lift and teach leadership,” she says.
But, she adds, the school isn’t across the finish line quite yet. “Our constituents have been incredibly generous, but we’re still seeking to fully fund this building, and we’ll continue fundraising until we realize that goal. We have roughly 15 months until construction is completed, and we continue to look for partners who believe in Kent Place and the sustainability of the school. We see the Leadership Center as an opportunity to continue to enhance KPS’s reputation in the world, and this new building helps us down that road. It’s about connection, collaboration, and community, all qualities that come together in cultivating leadership in the next generation of girls and women.”
The Leadership Center is the first initiative in an anticipated comprehensive campaign that is also supporting the KPS endowment. To date, $43 million has been raised, the largest sum ever realized by Kent Place School during a campaign. On the evening of October 14, 2025, Board Chair Katie (Herbst) Machir ’95 P ’28, Head of School
Jennifer Galambos, and the Board of Trustees welcomed Kent Place School’s leadership donors to the annual recognition reception at The Albion Summit. This special gathering celebrated their generosity and steadfast support, which helped set new records for the Kent Place Fund and break ground on the Leadership Center for Athletics, Wellness, and Performing Arts.
Their collective commitment led the way for the Fund to reach a significant milestone, as contributions surpassed $2.25 million. Many attendees also helped raise the initial funds needed to break ground on the new Leadership Center for Athletics, Wellness, and Performing Arts. During the evening, Katie and Dr. Galambos spoke about the vital role of philanthropic leadership — particularly as Kent Place celebrates 131 years of educating young women and moves to the next phase of construction on the transformative Leadership Center. The support of these leadership donors is what keeps Kent Place at the forefront of girls' education — empowering our students to be confident, intellectual, and ethical leaders who advance the world.
