Check This Out! Expanded Local History and Genealogy Research Assistance Available!

A lot of us are spending time at home researching our distant relatives or thinking about the history of our neighborhoods or houses. In order to help patrons who may not be able to visit the Library, the Local History and Genealogy Department at the Covington branch is offering more options for patrons to connect with staff to get help with their research needs.

Starting Monday, July 6, patrons can schedule a

one-hour appointment via a phone call or online through a virtual meeting.

Appointments are available Monday - Friday between 10 AM and 4 PM. Invitations for virtual meetings will be sent via email. Patrons can still request an in-person onehour appointment as well.

To schedule an appointment, please call the Local History and Genealogy Department at (859) 962-4070.

To get the most out of your appointment, be sure to have a specific research question in mind, and bring or prepare any materials you may have pertaining to the question, so that we can best utilize the appointment time.

Common appointment topics include: introduction to genealogy, research on a specific ancestor, assistance with online genealogy databases, or the basics of property research.

We are available to help you with your family history or local property research.

How to Participate in Programs Staff at the Kenton County Public Library are committed to provide patrons with unique opportunities to use the Library and participate in programs. There are three ways programs are currently offered: Facebook: All events are posted in Facebook. Registration is not required.

All you need is a Facebook account to participate. Previously recorded programs on Facebook Live can be found in the Video link.

Zoom: Programs taking place on Zoom will require the participant to have access to a computer or a phone or tablet with a camera. Those registered for the program will need to download the Zoom app (free) to participate.

If you don’t have access to a computer or device, staff will work with you to see what options are available within the Library. Zoom program participants will need a valid email address. Those participating in Zoom events will be in an online “waiting room” so we can verify attendees’ admittance.

In person: At the time of this publication’s design, the Commonwealth of Kentucky still encourages a limited number of people at gatherings.

Please note that the Library will offer limited in-person programming while permitted but that could change based on governmental guidelines.
