Everyone “Discovering Great American Artists” Art Show Friday, December 1Sunday, December 31 Visit the Children’s Department to view artwork created by homeschool students who attended the November “Discovering Great American Artists” series of art programs. Students learned about artists Mary Cassatt, Edward Hopper, Jacob Lawrence, and Louise Nevelson and created artwork in the style of that artist.

Tuesday, December 12, 11 am Enjoy a holiday music performance by the Ludlow High School Chorus.

Children Season’s Readings

Ages 2-12 In December Children can pick up a “Season’s Readings” book log at any location. Read or listen to five books and return your log to the Library for a small prize and raffle entry. Complete as many book logs as you like for more chances to win. All logs due by 5 pm on Sunday, December 31.

Make & Take Ornaments

School Age Monday, December 18Friday, December 22 Check back every day this week for a different holiday ornament you can create and take home!

School Age Sunday, December 3, 2-3 pm Help gain reading confidence by reading aloud to a real therapy dog from Therapy Pets of Greater Cincinnati. These gentle dogs will sit patiently and listen while your child works on their literacy skills. Every child in attendance will be entered to win a book and a plush dog of their very own!

STEM Club

School Age Tuesdays, December 5 & 12, 7-8 pm Come put your building and design skills to the test. We’ll be exploring a different STEM activity each week!

Ticket to Ride for Beginners

School Age Thursdays, December 14, 6:30-8 pm Easy to learn and quick to play, Ticket to Ride: First Journey is the perfect introduction to the Ticket to Ride board game series. Players collect train cards, claim routes on the map, and try to connect the cities shown on their tickets to achieve victory.

Library Playgroup

Ages 0-4 Saturday, December 9, 10 am-Noon Meet in the Children’s Activity Room and weather permitting, the children’s outdoor play area. The Library provides sensory friendly toys and books, coffee for parents, bagels and a small snack for the children. Siblings welcome.

Play and Learn Group

Babies, Toddlers, Preschool Wednesday, December 13, 9:30-11 am The 4C Play & Learn group gives children who are not enrolled in preschool a chance to interact with other children while learning and exploring through play. Participants receive free activities to take home and are entered to win prizes in a quarterly drawing.


Homespun: A Gingerbread Christmas*

School Aged Homeschoolers Wednesday, December 13, 10:30 am-Noon As part of our holiday celebration, we’ll learn about Christopher Ludwick, the German baker who helped win the American Revolution with his infamous gingerbread. Join us for gingerbread stories, crafts and activities as well as a tasty treat!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Celebration

School Age Friday, December 15, 3-5:30 pm Celebrate the release of “Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi.” You can make your own lightsaber, and solve a Jedi scavenger hunt. At 4 pm, join us for “Lego Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles” on our big screen!

Frozen Sing Along

Preschool & School Age Friday, December 22, 2-4 pm ‘Let It Go’ and sing along with Anna and Elsa while watching the movie on our big screen. Really! Anna and Elsa will be visiting the Library and watching the movie along with us. Snacks will be provided and costumes are welcome.

New Year’s Countdown!

Ages 2-12 Sunday, December 31, 2:30-3:30 pm Join us as we count down to 3 o’clock and celebrate the New Year a little early! We’ll even have a balloon drop!

Weekly Preschool Storytimes December 1-15 Only Blast Off to Kindergarten

Commuity Outreach Programs Independence Christmas Walk featuring Frisch Marionettes Saturday, December 2, 6-8 pm Independence Christian Church Visit the Library at the Independence Christian Church for performances by The Frisch Marionette Company after the Independence Christmas Walk ends! There will be two performances at 6:15 pm and 7:15 pm.

City of Erlanger Tree Lighting Saturday, December 2, 7-8:30 pm Erlanger Depot Park Join us for readings of “The Polar Express” in the Caboose, with cocoa and more! Countdown the lighting of the tree by Mr. Claus, and share the beginning of the season with your neighbors!

Toddler Time

Enjoy performances by the Frisch Marionettes on Saturday, December 2!

Train Stories and Crafts/ Erlanger Train Display Saturday, December 9 & Sunday, December 10; Erlanger City Building See the holiday train display! On Saturday, stop by anytime between 10 am and 6 pm. Train stories and crafts will be available between 2-4 pm. On Sunday, stop by between Noon and 4 pm to see the trains. The Library will offer crafts and stories on Sunday from 2-3 pm.
