A message to our patrons:
NOTE: Written late-March, check website for information on opening. Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 and with the direction of local and state health and government agencies, the Kenton County Public Library is closed until the crisis has passed. This was a very difficult decision to make. Our staff is dedicated to serving the community and this long period of closure is challenging. Even though our buildings are closed, we are still providing services electronically. Please check out our social media platforms for upcoming tutorials, information about online databases and eBooks, and virtual storytimes. Our webpage is also a wonderful resource for research, homework help and entertainment. We provide cardholders with access to more than 150 databases including eBooks though Overdrive, eBooks, music and videos through Hoopla and homework help through Learning Express as well as many other resources. Interested in local history and genealogy? Check out our History and Genealogy webpage. This resource is full of old photos, access to databases such as Heritage Quest and many local newspapers and records. The Library is trying to make things a little easier for our parents who are at home teaching their children. Try out our databases and online chat reference feature. We are also reaching out to the most vulnerable in our community. I bet you didn’t know the Library provides books and other materials to over 450 homebound residents of Kenton County. Although we cannot deliver items at this time, we are doing wellness calls to make sure they have everything they need to make it through these challenging times. Please use your library and know we are here to serve you.

Stay Entertained and Engaged Looking for help staying engaged, entertained or need help with school? Check out one of the following online resources available on the Library’s website, www.kentonlibrary.org and click on Research and Learning. You will need your library card for many of these resources. ArtistWorks: Unable to attend music lessons? Do it online with ArtistWorks. Guitar, harmonica, piano and additional music lessons are available. Coding Games: Kids will enjoy learning to code with this free online service. Find this in the Children’s section of the website.
Creativebug: Creativebug has thousands of awardwinning art and craft video classes taught by recognized design experts and artists. Learn how to sew, paint, decorate cupcakes and much more. Freegal: Download and keep five songs per week. Gale Courses: Access over 300 online instructor led courses for lifelong learning. This includes computer courses, job search classes, LSAT prep, business and graphic design courses and much more. Hoopla: Borrow up to 20 free digital videos, music, and audiobooks
per month. Titles are always available. Libby: Libby is an app you can use to gain access to thousands of online eBooks and audiobooks through your library. Libby allows you to send eBooks to your kindle eReader, as well as read them on your phone or tablet in the Libby app. Plus, audiobooks are a great way to keep your mind occupied on new things while doing household chores. Learning Express: Get homework help and take practice tests. Mango Languages: Learn one of 70 languages online.
Overdrive: eBooks and audiobooks for children, teens and adults. PebbleGo: For PreK5th Grade. Features like videos and readalong books keep them engaged and learning. And you can feel comfortable knowing that they are exploring an ad-free website bursting with resources to help kids learn new skills and fun facts. TrueFlix: For K-6th grade. Read-along books and videos on a wide variety of subjects including Ancient Civilization, American Indians, Earth Science, Extreme Nature and much more.
