It’s no secret that the library has books, but did you know it has so much more? Home delivery to housebound residents, notary, reservable meeting spaces, tool lending, free Wi-Fi…the list goes on and on.

Locations & Hours

Each location offers a drive-thru service window and a return area. You can place items on hold online at kentonlibrary.org and receive a notification when they are ready for pickup. Get a Library Card

You can apply for a library card at any Kenton County Public Library location. Please bring a photo ID with your current address. If your photo ID does not have a current address, please bring a current piece of mail or a current utility bill with your ID. You can also apply online at kentonlibrary.org/library-card. Those under 18 applying for a library card must have a parent or guardian sign the application.

Did You Know That Your Library Offers… Art

The library houses an impressive fine art collection from prominent artists such as Dixie Selden, Harlan Hubbard and Frank Duveneck. Primarily featured at the Covington Branch, the works are on permanent display throughout the building. All library branches also periodically display a rotating selection of area artists.

Tools, yard games, microscopes and more

Empower Tools is a partnership between the library and the Center for Great Neighborhoods. Through this program, Kenton County residents with a valid library card can borrow up to three tools for seven days. Visit kentonlibrary.org/empower-tools for details and to fill out a verification form before borrowing. The Library of Things is a collection of unique items to borrow. Telescopes, yard games, electronics and more. To see a list of available items, search “library of things” on the library’s website using the “catalog” drop-down function of the search bar.

Local History & Genealogy Department

Thousands of photos, artifacts, records, books and more make the Kenton County Public Library’s History & Genealogy Department one of the largest in Kentucky. One-on-one genealogy research appointments available.


Programs & Events

The library offers over 150 programs a month ranging from fitness to book discussions, concerts, author events, storytimes, crafts, resume creation and more. All programs are free and are listed in the library’s monthly calendar of events and on the website.

Homebound Delivery

Homebound Delivery is a service designed to offer library materials to Kenton County residents with a disability or medical condition that prevents them from visiting the library. Patrons using this service must be Kenton County residents. Services are provided without regard to age, race, or gender. Free deliveries are made monthly.

Items in Multiple Languages

The library's collection includes books written in English, Spanish and various bilingual children's materials. Online streaming options offer Afrikaans, Arabic, Armenian, Belarusian, Bengali, Bosnian, Sebian & Croation, Cantonese, Czech, Danish, Farsi, French, Georgian, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai and Vietnamese languages.


Interlibrary Loan

Need a book that the library doesn’t own or cannot purchase? Try the Interlibrary Loan service. Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows KCPL to obtain materials from other libraries for use by KCPL patrons. To use this service, you must be a Kenton County resident and library cardholder with full borrowing privileges—details at kentonlibrary.org/ill.

Job Service Skills Training and Networking

The library has resources and assistance to help job seekers at all stages of employment: entry-level, outsourced or second career. Visit kentonlibrary.org/careerandjobservices to learn more about the help, including meeting with career coaches, available classes and more.

STREAM Centers

Create and learn new things at the library. Each library location offers something unique. Oversized printing, 3D printing, T-shirt presses, engravers and sublimation printing…there are various options to help with your educational, recreational or professional projects. Notary service

Free notary service is available at all three library locations. Hours of availability differ at each branch, so please call before visiting. Visit kentonlibrary.org/notary to learn about requirements for those needing notary service.

Meeting rooms

The use of meeting space is provided free of charge to individuals and groups for civic, educational and philanthropic purposes. All meetings must be open to the public. Reserve at kentonlibrary.org/meeting-rooms

Spanish Resources/ Recursos Hispánicos
