Get a Library Card

You can apply for a library card at any branch location or online at kentonlibrary.org/library-card. When applying in person, please bring a photo ID with your current address or a current piece of mail. Those under 18 must have a parent or guardian present to sign the application.

Did You Know That Your Library Offers…

Art

The library houses an impressive fine art collection from prominent artists such as Dixie Selden, Harlan Hubbard and Frank Duvaneck. Primarily featured at the Covington Branch, the works are on permanent display throughout the building. All branches also periodically display a rotating selection of area artists.

Tools

Empower Tools is a partnership between the library and the Center for Great Neighborhoods that allows residents with a valid library card to borrow up to three tools for seven days.

Local History and Genealogy Department

Thousands of photos, artifacts, records, books and more make the Kenton County Public Library’s History and Genealogy Department one of the largest in the state of Kentucky. One-on-one genealogy research appointments are also available.

Programs and Events

The library offers 150+ programs every month including book discussions, concerts, author events, storytimes, crafts and more. All programs are free and upcoming events can always be found by visiting kentonlibrary.org/events.

Homebound Delivery

This service is designed to offer library materials to those with a disability or medical condition that prevents them from visiting the library. Note that: Patrons using this service must be Kenton County residents.

Services are provided without regard to age, race or gender.

Items in Multiple Languages

The library’s collection includes books written in English, Spanish and various bilingual children’s materials. Online streaming options offer Afrikaans, Arabic, Armenian, Belarusian, Bengali, Bosnian, Croation, Cantonese, Czech, Danish, Farsi, French, Georgian, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai and Vietnamese languages.

Interlibrary Loan

Need a book that the library doesn’t own or cannot purchase? Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows KCPL to obtain materials from other libraries for use by KCPL patrons. To use this service, you must be a Kenton County resident and library cardholder with full borrowing privileges. See details at kentonlibrary.org/ill.

Job Service Skills Training and Networking

The library has resources that support job seekers at all stages of employment: entry-level, outsourced or second career. Visit kentonlibrary.org/careerandjobservices to learn more about what’s available, including regular classes and one-on-one career guidance.

STREAM Centers

Unleash your creativity at our STREAM Centers. These state-of-the-art makerspaces offer unique opportunities to explore your innovation using 3D printing, T-shirt presses, oversized printing, engravers, sewing machines, sublimation printing and more. Notary service

Free notary service is available at all four library locations.

Meeting rooms
