Over the last five years, the Kennesaw Parks & Recreation Department has been developing and improving our brand As the Director, I am committed to supporting our staff, getting involved in the community and providing education and training opportunities to continue to elevate our services by reviewing our practices and staying relevant to the current needs Kennesaw Parks & Recreation staff are committed to making Kennesaw a great place to live, work and play We have hired additional, quality staff and implemented new top-of-the-line programming We want our mission to provide experiences that enrich the quality of life for area residents and visitors to be evident in everything we do
In 2024, we are excited about where our brand is taking us The tennis courts at Adams Park reopened in December 2023 with the addition of four pickleball courts The Amphitheater at Depot Park will open this year and will add to our entertainment offerings The additional open green space will give the community a place to gather for a casual day in the park, as well as special events Stay tuned for our concert series and other activities that will take place in Depot Park
With the increasing popularity of the Recreation Center and the new amphitheater set to open, Kennesaw will transform into a regional sports and entertainment

Depending on the season, your child can join a baseball, softball or football team right here in Kennesaw. League play is organized and directed by private, non-profit athletic associations with online registration being available through each association's individual website. Registration for baseball, softball and football is not conducted through our department.

KENNESAW HOOPS YOUTH LEAGUE
Ages 5 - 18
All teams will have an eight game regular season. Practices begin in November and games start in December. The season will run through February. Divisions 7 and older will participate in post season play. All participants will receive a uniform and unique league item. Rules are division specific and are based on age groups. Teams will practice once during the week and majority of games will take place on Saturdays at the Recreation Center The age control date is September 1, and all participants must play with their age group All participants must have a birth certificate on file in order to register and participate
KENNESAW HOOPS ADULT LEAGUE

The Kennesaw Parks and Recreation Department will offer a Summer Season of Adult Basketball! The league features several different groups:
18+ Men's Competitive and Recreational Divisions
35+ Men's Competitive and Recreational Divisions
18+ Co-ed Competitive and Recreational Divisions
Registration is available to teams or individuals as a free agent. Co-ed and 35+ games are on Tuesdays and Men's 18+ games occur on Thursdays. Games will begin both evenings at 6:30 PM Each team will play eight regular season games and a minimum of one game in tournament play. All games will take place at the Recreation Center

Girls: Ages 9 - 16
Two Seasons: Fall & Spring



The fall season runs August to October and the spring season is from March to May. Practices will occur one night a week at the Recreation Center. Most games will take place on Saturdays. All teams will participate in the end of the season tournament. The age control date is September 1, and all participants must play with their age group. All participants must have a birth certificate on file in order to register and participate.

Pickleball and Tennis
KENNESAW PARKS & RECREATION IS PLEASED TO OFFER AN ARRAY OF PICKLEBALL AND TENNIS ACTIVITIES SUCH AS LESSONS, OPEN PLAY AND TOURNAMENTS.

INTRO TO PICKLEBALL
FREE pickleball lessons are available for those that are new to the sport. As the fastest growing sport in the nation, pickleball is for everyone of all ages. We have partnered with USAPA Ambassadors to offer this one hour session every first Wednesday of the month.
SILVER SERVERS & GOLDEN ACERS
Members meet every Monday of the month at the Recreation Center from 12:00 - 2:00 PM. Available to women ages 65+. The cost is $12 per participant and will cover the cost of an elite t-shirt.
PICKLEBALL LESSONS
Attendees will learn the fundamentals of pickleball. Subsequent classes will cover footwork, strategies and ways to improve your game once you have the basics mastered.

SPECIAL NEEDS PICKLEBALL
FREE 45-minute pickleball clinics are available every first Wednesday of the month at the Recreation Center. Sign-ups are required each month as space is limited.

Adams Park will be hosting tennis classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced players.
Beginners: This lesson gives new players a foundation to the sport of tennis The player is introduced to new skills slowly and allows for them to gain confidence with each class

SOLE KIDZ RUNNING PROGRAM
This program is a fun, flexible running program designed to get kids in the community active! The mission of Sole KIDZ is to promote a healthy, active lifestyle to the Kennesaw youth through a running based program.
GYMNASTICS
Kennesaw Gymnastics offers a small town, family atmosphere where children will be challenged and set up for success. Kennesaw Gymnastics offers classes for boys and girls including parkour, gymnastics, camps and parties to every skill level starting from ages two through high school The gymnastics program has an excellent and knowledgeable staff that will love your child and make them feel right at home All of the competitive team coaches are USA certified coaches
LITTLE DRAGONS TAEKWON-DO
This class is designed to help younger people develop selfcontrol, balance and perseverance in a fun and safe environment Mr Omar Welch is the Head Instructor and has been teaching Taekwon-Do in Kennesaw for almost ten years. Mr. Welch is a certified instructor that has focused on helping young people reach their full potential

THE DANCERS STUDIO
Dance class is one of the greatest opportunities a parent can offer their child to learn “life-lessons” Dance teaches discipline, multi tasking, self control, working with others and accepting that a positive attitude is necessary to move forward to meet a goal The Dancers Studio is under the direction of Brenda Mealor
STAGE PLAY CAMPS
CandiNews Productions presents youth drama, acting and musical theater classes and camps! These classes will help kids build confidence, enhance their communication skills, teaches perseverance and creates lasting memories Classes include a variety of themes for different interests.
WHITE DIAMONDS
The White Diamonds Dance team is a majorette style dance team that incorporates Hip-Hop, Jazz, lyrical and step routines. Participants will learn the art of historically black colleges and university dance team style in a positive environment that encourages self-confidence This team is ideal for dancers who enjoy fast paced moves Music used during class and performances will be pre-screened and edited, and movements will be age-appropriate Get ready to shine bright like a diamond!

ABC’s & 123's
In Snapology's ABC's & 123's class, your little learner will explore the letters of the alphabet and basic phonics, practice their counting and writing skills, develop an awareness of common classroom procedures and do so all while they are playing!
MINING & BUILDING
Join us as we bring the game of Minecraft® out of the computer and into the real-world using LEGO® bricks In this program, you will go on adventures using your imagination and even design your own worlds, full of mobs, animals, buildings and your very own LEGO® Minecraft® character
GAME DESIGN & CODING SESSION
Students are exposed to a variety of lessons that teach them computer programming, game design character and background development, game design functionality and animation, app design and critical thinking skills Students will develop functional personal arcade games, create mobile apps that link users to their games, and learn how to display their gaming applications on functional hardware devices
MECHANICAL MASTERMINDS
This program gives your student the tools they need to understand mechanical movement through the foundations of simple machines, physics and engineering design They will see moving parts up-close as they follow instructions to build various machines, then use the models to develop new design ideas, test out physics concepts and even play games with their partners and classmates
MACHINES AND CONTRAPTIONS
This program gives your student the tools they need to understand mechanical movement and the importance of simple machine This class is designed for neutodivergent children and involves using small pieces
General Interest
TEEN ACADEMY AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM
After-School Program for middle schoolers offering homework tables, study groups, tutoring (Math, Science, Social Studies, ELA and Spanish), enrichment activities and recreation. Daily pickup from McClure Middle, Pine Mountain Middle and Awtrey Middle Hours are 4 – 7 PM, Monday thru Friday Program runs concurrent with the Cobb County School District schedule
CHESS CLUB
This club offers youth of all skill levels a fun and welcoming environment where they learn chess and play with other youth
TEEN ACADEMY SAT/ACT PREP
In partnership with My Class Connection, SAT/ACT Prep combo classes are taught by Master Test Prep Teacher, Julie Truono, MEd, who is passionate about helping students reach their goals. Materials and practice tests are provided. Students will benefit from:
1) Relearning/Reviewing the Academic Standards/skills tested in both the SAT and ACT.
2) Understanding and applying standardized test taking strategies used in both tests
3) Intentional selection of which test better fits your learning style and your strengths for future planning

Clay is a versatile material that can be used to produce ornate objects or functional pieces Learn the coil, pinch and slab methods of hand building, and when you’ve got the basics down, move on to wheel techniques

BALANCED RUNNING - RUNNING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR RUNNERS AND WALKERS

Want to get a head start on being active, staying healthy and in shape? Our Running Development Program is designed for runners/walkers of all abilities. Regardless of your goal, everything from enhancing your health and fitness to completing your first or fastest 5K to half marathon Our cadre of experienced and certified coaches are here to help you uncover your athletic talents and reach your goals We don’t just hit the pavement; our program includes strength and stability training to help you develop as a complete athlete.
MARTIAL ARTS
BSD TAEKWON-DO: This class is designed to teach students, both children and adult, traditional TaekwonDo. Beginner and experienced students are welcome in this class. Students in this class range from tenth Gup Low White Belts through Black Belts All training in this class will follow a syllabus accepted by the United States Taekwon-Do Federation
KARATE AND SELF DEFENSE: This class balances traditional Karate techniques with real world self defense applications You can proceed toward and earn Black Belt Certification, but the emphasis is on growth and selfimprovement, not combative training. Class is conducted in an all-inclusive learning environment.

Mat Pilates is an accessible, low impact workout that focuses on strength, stability, posture, proper breath control and flexibility. Improves bad posture, increases physical vitality and facilitates mind body awareness.
HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING (HIIT)
Incorporates several rounds that alternate between 30 seconds to one minute of high intensity movements that will significantly increase the heart rate followed by short periods of rest. This program is the perfect space for you to sharpen your design and building skills! Students will learn how to take an idea from their head and turn it into a building in the real world They will be guided through the building process, from creating a floor plan to disaster-proofing the structure, so that they will be able to create the next best thing in architecture using LEGO bricks!

The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History, a prestigious Smithsonian Affiliations member, is a family-friendly destination devoted to trains, big and small The Museum is home to the General, the locomotive stolen by Union spies in what came to be known as “The Great Locomotive Chase,” one of the most daring episodes of the Civil War Also on display is an impressive collection of military artifacts, including two of the first Medals of Honor ever awarded, and objects that tell the personal story of the Civil War from the perspective of civilians and individuals that are often overlooked The nation’s only full-scale reproduction of a belt-driven locomotive assembly line, along with an office, pattern shop, factory equipment, and two locomotives in various stages of development, tells the story of manufacturing and trains in the South after the war Visitors will also find Georgia’s ‘Merci’ Gratitude Boxcar, a gift of thanks from France for providing aid to their war-torn country following World War II For little train enthusiasts, the 5,000 square foot education center is full of interactives and playsets for kids of all ages

The Southern Museum offers year-round programs and events, from the popular Mommy & Me weekly preschool program to our annual model-train extravaganza Trains, Trains, Trains! held every January. For students, field trip options that meet Georgia state curriculum standards are tailored for age appropriateness and can be customized to meet specific requirements. We also bring the Museum to local schools with in-classroom outreach and virtual outreach. For researchers, the Museum library and archives contain over 3,000 linear feet of material available to view upon request. SENIOR LUNCHEON SERIES
On the first Wednesday of each month during the spring and fall series, Kennesaw Parks & Recreation will host a luncheon for Adults 50+ The luncheons will take place at the Ben Robertson Community Center
The programming will include a social hour, plated lunch with dessert, a brief discussion topic and conclude with a few rounds of Bingo and prizes. The cost is $5 per luncheon or $12 for the series. Pre-registration is required.

COURTS
The three multi-sport courts are lined for three basketball courts, three volleyball courts and nine pickleball courts.

WALKING TRACK
This track goes around all three courts in the gymnasium. It is .115 mile in length and will take around nine laps to complete a mile. The track features two lanes, one for walkers and the other for runners. Access to the track is located on the second floor of the facility.

INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND
In 2019, the City of Kennesaw and Kennesaw Parks & Recreation renovated the upper playground at SwiftCantrell Park to a fully inclusive playground The previous playground featured nine slides, eleven swings and a main play structure that has 100 feet of ADA ramps and sensory boards The four additions to the main play structure include a wheelchair accessible ramp that leads to a ropes tower, sensory stations, an eight-person wheelchair sway fun and a slide The ramp system also leads to the pod climbers, a tunnel system and climbing apparatuses The main play structure has 40 feet of shade
LIFE UNIVERSITY WELLNESS STATION

The Life University Wellness Station at Swift-Cantrell Park is a complete fitness and body-weight training system designed to deliver a synergistic workout The system consists of five Energi Prime stations, 120 exercises and can accommodate up to 14 users at once. Two additional LifeTrail Advanced Wellness stations feature low-impact, functional exercises to help older, active adults stay fit, prevent injury and maintain an independent, healthy lifestyle.
In 2022, the City added an inclusive swing as a part of the playground The We-Go-Swing is a no-transfer inclusive swing The 60" x 72" entry deck is connected to the ramp for easy roll-on access. There is no need to transfer from a mobility device to take part in the fun, and there is plenty of room for the children and the caregivers to sit and/or stand together and enjoy the ride. Handlebars assist in moving the swing and keeping the users in place and rotate up for accessible entrance and exit. The Swift-Cantrell Park Foundation is a non-profit 501C3 comprised of a team of dedicated and communityminded individuals donating their time and talents to benefit Swift-Cantrell Park The Foundation works to create awareness about the park’s needs and raise funds for park enhancements not funded by other means The Swift-Cantrell Park Foundation, or SCPF, has contributed to such park improvements as the Splash Pad, shade structures in the playground and Skate Park and the new, inclusive playground Donations can be made directly on the SCPF website or passively through their partnership with Gas South. FRANK BOONE DOG PARK
The 1.54 acre off-leash dog park, located along the western edge of the property, has six-foot-high perimeter fencing, three separate run areas (for large, medium and small dogs), a watering station, dog wash area, disposable plastic waste bags and receptacle stations.
KENNESAW SKATEPARK
The 40,000 square foot skate park consists of a Street League Skateboarding Foundation Certified Skate Plaza, flow course and bowl There is no charge to use the facility Helmets are required for skaters ages 15 and under

FACILITY USAGE

RENTAL MINIMUM
Rentals require a two (2) hour minimum rental time, except in the Conference Room that requires a one (1) hour minimum
RENTAL FEES
All rental fees and security deposit are due at the time of application Applicant and guests may be subject to eviction, loss of security deposit and additional rental fees up to twice the rental rate if event exceeds Rental End Time. Applicant may also lose facility use privileges.
Hourly Rates:
SECURITY DEPOSIT
All rental applicants must pay a security deposit. The deposit is refundable if, and only when, the facility is left clean and there is no damage to furnishings or equipment. If damage occurs and the cost of the damage exceeds the amount of the deposit, the rental applicant will be billed for any additional expense Damages could lead to losing facility use privileges The decision of whether the deposit shall be refunded is solely up to the Parks & Recreation Department and will not be refunded until City personnel have inspected the facility

AT ADAMS PARK Construction has been completed for the Adams Park Outdoor Pickleball and Tennis Courts! The courts feature four pickleball courts and two tennis courts, with benches! The courts are available for Open Play, reservations, lessons and City events.
