These 2 families are very hard working ones with the same goals for the future, to produce very functional cattle to raise for themselves and their bull customers.

Riverside Angus continues to make their product better and better every year as you will see in this catalog.

They are always searching for new genetics to enhance the marketability of their program. This year the bulls on offer are the most consistent ones to date. They are built for longevity in the very large pens they are fed in with exercise a key for maintaining the structure and doability for these bulls.

Dersta Farms is another family run operation that continues to grow each and every year with adding new genetics as well to keep their commercial buyers satisfied. Very docile set of bulls also fed in a large area to make sure they are getting the daily exercise they need for longevity. When you tour the bull pen, you have to admire the size and shape this year the bulls have.

WELCOME TO THE 4THANNUAL RIVERSIDE ANGUS BULL SALE As I sit down to write this year’s welcome it is hard to believe the year we had and managed to get through it all with our usual grit and grace.

Just like many people in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, we experienced one of the driest and hottest summers to date, that really put our cows to the test. We feel our cows still did there job well and probably above expected giving the circumstances.

We were fortunate enough to get some much needed moisture in September which gave us some re-growth on our pastures as well our barley and silage stubble which allowed us to graze most of the cows into November. Once we pulled the cows from the pasture they are put out on Triticale swath grazing which we manage daily.

Once the cows were done with the triticale we opened up the corn field for them to graze which is also managed daily.

I would like to express our sincere thanks for making last year’s sale so successful, the new buyers that were willing to give our program a chance as well to all our previous buyer’s who continue to put their trust into our program, we truly appreciate the confidence you put into our bulls. Our success would not be possible without you.

All of us at Riverside are excited about this year’s impressive offering. We pride ourselves on paying close attention to foot and udder structure, disposition, calving ease, balanced with performance.

The bulls are being fed a mixed ration of barley, a malt barley pellet, barley/ pea silage, straw and a mineral pre- mix specifically designed for our herd. The bulls have gained steadily all winter long.

The bulls will be semen tested and vaccinated prior to the sale and come with a full guarantee.

Dersta Farms will once again be joining us with an outstanding set of Red Yearlings.

The bulls will be at the Innisfail Auction Market Saturday April 9th and available for viewing Sunday April 10th and Monday April 11th until sale time.

This bull has been our favorite bull since day one, you really have to appreciate the muscle this guy packs in such a stylish frame. 32J is out of one of our very best Net worth daughters that has had many friends over the years on pasture tours, and she has the production record to back it up. This will be her sixth son to walk through the sale ring and he may just be the best one yet. Early last summer Logan decided that this bull was going to be in our show string for the fall and he halter broke extremely easy because of his calm demeanor. This bull without a doubt will add pounds and capacity to anyone’s cow herd without giving up any calving ease.

If you have come for a tour, seen us at shows, visited with us at any point in the last 2 years you would have heard the name ‘FRED’ dropped just a few times.

‘Fred” ticks all our boxes. Genetics that have been successful in many mainstay red angus herds. The names Networth, Eliminator, Razor, Capacity, Rebel, all on the front of the papers. A bull that checks the boxes of foot structure, Soundness, and length of body. This guy is everything plus more that we hoped he would be. The first ‘Fred’ daughters are now milking and every single one has dropped a gorgeous udder with well placed, small teats that are easy for the calves to find. His calves certainly follow the cow’s genetics. A BIG broody momma cow is going to give you a big calf that slams the scale down in the fall. A smaller frame finer built cow gives you a smaller calf that will still weigh up in the fall. We are not trying to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes. His numbers on CE are not great. BUT what counts are his build and all the calves coming out. The first year we used him with success on both heifers and cows, but as he grew he just got a little more so now just used on the cows. The Proof is in the pudding, and the pudding is standing outside in both the bull pen AND our replacement heifer pen.

You truly have to see this guy to appreciate his Build. Nice clean head not a bulky tie up in the birth canal head, long neck, clean shoulders, Extra Length where we all know adds those extra lbs. And an Ass full of meat. His bone structure is not the size of my thighs but a moderate made bone and large correct feet.

You put this guy on your cows, send the steers to town, take the check to the bank, and watch all your replacements you kept back on him keep the smile on your face as they produce over and over again.

If we had a larger commercial herd this bull would absolutely not be offered. He would be staying here at home to fill my pockets.
