OBI WELCOME Once again, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 48th Annual Northern Select Sale. What a year it has been in Northern Alberta with May being very dry and then the flood gates opened with moisture for all. I went to pastures in July with standing water and rubber boots were a must. The fall came; patience was tested but overall, 2026 has left a lot of cow feed around with optimism at the highest level in the cattle industry. Last year’s sale was a huge success with having the sale on a Friday night again with over 250 attending the event. Northern Hospitality was tested and met with huge satisfaction. No matter where the sale is and when, the Northern Select always continue to produce cattle that flat work for their new owners. It is a great group of people to deal with, hardworking, very grateful to be involved in a sale. Again, in my travels it was a pleasure going thru the cow herds of the Northern Consignors and working with them to market their females in this sale. When going to each operation I discuss game plans for this sale and the future of their marketing and promotion and then we sit and negotiate which animals will do that for each program. Chelsea also helped me with some selections this year. We have another 5 new consignors for the sale which is always welcomed to showcase their herds to us all. The sale cattle will start coming to Stettler on Thursday morning with a meeting of the Northern Club at 7:00 PM on Thursday Night. The supper, that you won’t want to miss, will commence at 5:30 PM with the sale being Friday Night at 7:00 PM. We will be on sale site from Thursday until Sale time. I would like to thank again the club and all the supporters of this event last year; your commitment and loyalty to this sale is second to none. If any member of OBI or Myself or the sale staff can assist you, please feel free to call us. See you at Stettler, November 13th. Mark Holowaychuk

Everblack Lady May 5010 is a deep-sided, wide-topped female that has the look of making a brood cow. She looks to be laying down a terrific udder, as we have come to expect from the Lady May females. 5010 is one of five full sisters that have all turned out. One sister topped our spring bull sale at $18,000 to Banana Hill Farms, the Danyluks from Elk Point AB. Another full sister was Sully’s 4-H project this year, a testament to the docility of these females. The dam Rail Line Lady May 1H came to us as a past high seller at $31,000 out of the AAC in Ontario. We have had tremendous luck with direct Capitalist 316 daughters. The sire Peakdot Gatsby is doing a nice job for us, adding capacity and fleshing ability in a moderate, sound package. The coupon inside is an exciting one, as she is bred to our new Caldwell son from Belvin. Caldwell has done a tremendous job at Belvin. Watch for his popularity to explode with him now walking the pastures at SAV as well.

Everblack Bride 30N is a sweetheart of a female. She has a beautiful Angus head, and an extended front end that leads into a nice big rib. If you follow her pedigree back a few generations it ends up with the Bride 4W cow that did great things in the renowned BAR-E-L program. Bride 30N has a maternal sister working at Clinton Ostrander’s in Ontario. She will be the first of many offspring offered for sale from our walking bull, Musgrave Manhattan 303. He is siring sound, functional cattle that look to be on the maternal side with exceptional teat placement. Manhattan’s grandmother, Musgrave Prim Lassie 329, would be one of the more famous cows in the Angus breed today. We cannot wait to see his first daughters freshen this spring. We will pay for the DNA on the 2027 calf.

Black Bred Heifers
This heifer has truly been a standout since birth. From an early age, she was our biggest, heaviest heifer, and she never slowed down. The milk, volume and thickness of her dam, combined with Baldridge Badger as her sire, really made for something special. Badger has become well known for foot quality, and this heifer is proof irrefutable, with straight claws and a deep heel. We feel this heifer mated to the proven calving ease and maternal sire Sitz Continuity, should make for an outstanding return on investment. She was ultrasounded safe to Sitz Continuity.

For a mid-March calf, this heifer gives up nothing in volume and power to our other consignment, or to anyone for that matter. Her dam, Rivendale Annie K, has proven herself a heavy milking top producer for us since buying her from the Masterpiece sale in 2021, with two other daughters retained. She is easily among the top end of our Valley Blossom Executive 702L daughters, all of which are angular, feminine, long, and fleshy. Her sire, Rust Forged of Fire 0412, has clicked exceptionally well, with daughters near the top of our replacement pen and standout bulls heading to our bull sale. Her dam, 8G, is a Soo Line Motive 9016 daughter with a well-balanced, square udder and excellent capacity. Every once in a while, a sire comes along that makes you stop turning pages. Sitz Eternity 739L was that bull for us. When we first spotted him in the ST Genetics catalog in early 2025, the reaction was immediate— “Holy f**k, come look at this bull.” He was a true page-stopper, combining tremendous presence, a set of footnotes that made you dream big and a dam that made your mouth water. By spring 2026, we were kicking ourselves for not buying more semen. Eternity 739L no longer qualifies for Canada, making the daughters even more intriguing. Tippy 03P is one of those daughters—and she is exactly why we wanted to use him. Tippy 03P is the kind of female maternal dreams are made of. Feminine-made, stout, exceptionally good-footed and blessed with that beautiful Angus skull shape we all appreciate, Tippy 03P combines style with the substance and cow power to go the distance. Her dam is a beautiful Bravo 6313 daughter who continues to outproduce herself year after year. A maternal brother sold to Elliott Bros. Angus this spring, adding another piece of validation to an already proven maternal line. The Tippy cow family began for us with the purchase of Rusylvia Miss 3A at the Northern Select—and what a purchase that turned out to be. The Tippy’s have become some of the most consistent producers in our program, delivering the maternal ability, udder quality and functionality we demand. In fact, they make up the bulk of our Black Angus cow herd. Tippy 03P brings together a hard-to-replace sire, a proven maternal foundation and the kind of Angus presence that makes you stop and look twice. She is the kind of female you can appreciate today— and build around tomorrow. Parent verified.

She’s not just nice to look at, she has all the attributes and pedigree to perform like she’s supposed to. Her dam came to us through the 2023 Northern Select Sale from the great people at Pedersen Livestock and she carries the same easy handling temperament and material traits that caught our eye with her dam. Her sire, Peak Dot Boost 137H is a bull we’ve used extensively over the past few years to continually improve calving ease and build the foundation for great calves. 6P’s full brother sold through our 2026 Bull Sale to Sienna Red Angus.

This little lady was a last-minute addition to the sale pen, and we can tell you it took some convincing to get Kendra to part with her! When you’re a daughter of one of her all-time favourite cows, you’ve got some pretty big shoes to fill, and 418P is doing just that! Her dam is exceptional in both phenotype and disposition, so quiet that we halter broke her this summer as a six-yearold cow! And the apple certainly didn’t fall far from the tree, as 418P has inherited that same wonderful temperament. On the paternal side, she’s backed by a herd sire that has left a tremendous mark on our program. His daughters are the kind you build a cow herd around, while his sons are out working in our customers pastures across the Western Canada. Proven genetics, outstanding disposition and generations of cow power behind her. This sweet little package is one we truly believe in, and one that’s going to be awfully hard to watch leave the yard!

We are very excited to bring DLW 1P to the Northern. She is off a partner cow that Brady Fraser and I purchased from the Angus Collection. We sold her half sister in this sale to Jesse and Miranda Emery of Dwajo last year. I Thought last year it was going to be tough to produce a heifer as good as DLW 3N was, but I believe we may have done better. DLW 1P weaned off in early Sept at 850Lbs. The consistency that her dam EDW 168K produces is outstanding. EDW 168K goes back to HF Alcatraz and SAV Renovation. The Sire DLW 6Mis a bull we raised and kept a Semen Share in. RR Forty Thunderstruck 6M comes out are HF Roper and HF Tibbie 22C which has left her mark at Hamilton’s. His Dam, Remintal Rita 58J has become a Matriarch at RR Forty. She has a daughter working in the herd and 2 bulls Working in prominent peace country herds as well as DMM Rollin On 38L Bull Calf at the top of our bull pen.

Her mother KOF 55J was purchased from the Mar Mac Black Angus Dispersal. She is a moderate made cow with a great disposition. She is always the first cow to come see you on the pasture and check to see if there is a white 5-gallon pail. I really was unhappy that Mark selected DLW 2P, but if we are making the trip to Stettler we need to bring are best. DLW 2P weaned off in early Sept at 778Lb. She has been a standout since birth. She is sired by are DLW 6M and we had 19 heifer calves out of the 20 cows he bred. The calves off DLW 6M have a good foot, stand correct, have great depth and length and have great temperament. I retained some commercial heifers out of recip cows that did not catch embryos, because they were that good.

Lady 63P is the kind of red female that stops you in your tracks and makes you look twice. From the moment she hit the ground last January, she had the look of something special—and she has only gotten better. Cherry red, ultra-broody, dark-footed and backed by a pedigree stacked with black genetics, she brings a rare combination of phenotype, maternal power and genetic intrigue to the table. Confidence Plus. Bronc. Chism 6175. And, further back on the dam’s side, Pioneer 7301. For those of us who love chasing purple genetics, putting this much genetic horsepower into a red package is exactly what gets our attention. Phenotypically, she checks all the boxes. Broody, stout, soft-made, excellent-footed and blessed with a sweet disposition, Lady 63P has the look and substance to be a standout in the pasture and a valuable addition to a serious breeding program. She is backed by the proven Lady cow family, a family built on phenotypic presence, functionality and exceptional udder quality. Her dam, LSCC 63L, is a moderate-made, excellent-footed red carrier who continues to outperform herself with every calf crop. Behind 63L is SKG 12W, the cow that established the Lady legacy at Lucky 7. A sleeper purchase at Tradition with a Vision in 2010, 12W developed into a maternal powerhouse and proven donor for our program. Her influence continues to make an impact. On the top side, Cadillac 3289 was a bull we selected for his fresh pedigree, big EPD spread and curve-bending ability. His first calf crop is impressive, and we are excited to see more of his progeny hit the ground in 2027. A red female with black branches. A proven cow family. An exciting young sire. LSCC 63P has the pieces in place to be more than a good heifer-she has the makings of a great cow. If you are serious about finding one to build around, circle this one. Parent verified.

This heifer patterns her maternal side of her pedigree-moderate framed and easy fleshing. She is the first female offered for sale from WRAZ 65K. He was my choice of bull calves out of the WRAZ dispersal. He sires a little more performance in his calves and easy fleshing. 15N is bred to the easy calving sire Red CER Moon Pie 4010. Moon Pie 4101 was on display at the Saskatchewan Angus Tour this summer displayed by Triple L Livestock. He was one of the most talked bulls at the tour with his great feet, muscle and dark red hide and his calves are flat outstanding across Alberta and Sask. This coupon will be very rewarding.

This heifer is another daughter of WRAZ 65K. She has always been one to catch my eye whenever I go into the group of heifers. She has a little more frame to her as she comes from a long line of larger framed cows. She is long spined and very feminine in her front. She also is bred to Moon Pie a bull that OBI purchased semen on for me at Red Roundup last December to use on heifers. When Mark saw this bull, we talked and he convinced me to use Moon Pie and according to all that have used him, the calves are top end at all operations.
