It is my pleasure to welcome to the 1st Annual MWC Investments Inc. & Lucky 7 Cattle Co. Bull & Female Sale. This is a new venture by two of the most unique operations in the land.

MWC Investments Inc. has been very proactive in the ET program with purchasing top end donor dams for the future of the operation. This cow herd came originally came from the purchase of Crescent Creek Rosebud 115F and she has made her mark in the whole Angus industry now. The bulls are fed just right for longevity with a really good foot under them. Exercise in the bull pen is a key to the development of these bulls.

Lucky 7 Cattle Co. runs a very good program as well. The cows walking the pastures are the basis of this most unique program. They are constantly using top A.I. sires to enhance their program with different genetics that work for them. Their bulls are fed just the right way with longevity kept in mind. A strong selection of power bulls with a lot of calving ease bull that are so good on their feet. Unique black red carrier bulls in this section as well.

The sale will be run by DLMS with their Time Auction Program, if you need any assistance, please do contact any member of OBI or the consignors. I am very familiar with these 2 programs and the cows that back up the cattle offered, so please feel free to call myself or any of the sale staff.

Sight Unseen Purchase We are here to sell you the right bull for your program. We believe you need to see for yourself the animals we have on display.

However, if you cannot make it to view the animals before sale time. Please contact any of the above sale day numbers and we will find an animal that fits your needs and budget to the best of our ability, all info is kept confidential.

Fertility All bulls are semen tested and the scrotal measurements taken before sale day by a certified veterinarian and will be provided on sale day. Any bulls who are decision deffered will be noted and presented up front before sale time.

Terms of Sale Cash or cheques are in Canadian Dollars and all invoices must be settled before delivery of animal is made unless prior arrangements are made. All bulls sold under the Canadian Angus Association standard terms and conditions. In all cases the seller is not responsible for more than what the animal sold for. OBI Livestock Ltd. will be sending out the invoices after the sale is completed.

Delivery We are offering free delivery within 300 km of farm, over 300 km an arrangement will be made. We will hold the animals free of charge until April 15th after such date the amount of 3.00/day will be charged until delivery or pick up is made. Any animals staying at the farms must be insured. If you pick up your animal within a week of sale day, we are offering $100 dollar refund of your animal purchased.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DLMS FARM GATE TIMED AUCTION WITH EXTENDED BIDDING: 1.Visit dlms.ca and follow the link to the DLMS FarmGate timed auction site www.farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number.

2. You can choose your favourite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity.

3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500.

4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after close time will extend the sale by the time listed on each sale. In Most cases the time gets shorter the longer in to extended bidding the sale is. When no bidding occurs for the extended time the computer will declare the sale finished.

5. Following the sale the Owner or Sale Manager will invoice all buyers in the sale, please contact the seller with questions or to arrange delivery, pick up or shipping of your purchases.

Hello and a very warm welcome to MWC and our first Angus Bull and Commercial Heifer sale. I am delighted to have this sale with the Lucky 7 Cattle Co. and excited about the future of the Angus breed.

MWC won the Premiere Dam at the World Angus Forum in 2017 and we use those genetics to develop the maternal herd we have today. Our cows are bred for their maternal traits, nice udders, excellent feet, faultless structure and sensible attitude.

Most of the bulls we offer are ET calves selected from strong cow families bred for maternal traits. One of my top donor cows is out of Duff Body Builder 763 and some of these bulls are out of HA Image Maker 0415 and Body Builder. This is a set of bulls that aren’t overfed but will go out and work.

We are offering 50 open commercial heifers mostly out of Baldridge Bronc sons. Most of these heifers go back to Baldridge Isabel 69Y which is a maternal cow. It would be difficult to find another set of commercial heifers this good.

MWC Bravo 14J is one of the best breeding pieces in the 2022 bull sale run being out of the Coleman Bravo 6313 A.I. bull and the $140,000 U2 Erelite 109Z donor dam. She sold to Spickler Ranch at the U2 Dispersal Sale that day in a very heated contest with me. So, we obtained the preg recips that same day and 14J is the result. The Coleman Bravo calves are sure taking the industry by storm with their deep bodies, easy fleshing and very good footed progeny. Paternal brother was U2 Shameless, the $290,000 Black Angus high selling bull in 2020. Erelite 109Z is from a cow family that we sold the U2 Ranch privately thru Rob Holowaychuk that started their Black Angus division. So, we know what this cow family can do. The females are well uddered and are moderate framed with great futures. This bull was bought in dam from the Blair’s Reduction Sale In 2020. This is the other bought in dam calf from the Blair’s Reduction Sale in 2020. Take a close look, the dam Blair’s Georgina 537E is the daughter of the Lot 2 dam. We bought the mother and daughter and figured to enter them into the donor pen. Georgina 537E is built just like her dam, big middled, good topped, good headed with plenty of size and capacity.

32J’s sire is the Many Times Champion, Conley South Point 8362 for Wilbar Cattle Co., Poplar Meadows and Conley Cattle. His progeny this year are sure worth the look, with extra style, shape and great haircoats. Heifer Bull.

She is a Forever Lady cow that traces back to one of the best cows in the land, GDAR Forever Lady 9136, purchased by Rob Holowaychuk and made her way to have 66 progeny across the land for Eastondale Angus, Dryland Angus and Johnson Livestock.

These two are the power bulls in the pen with that extra size and length. They are full ET brothers so doesn’t surprise you they weighed 5 lbs different for their yearling weights. HA Image Maker 0415 is a mainstay at MWC with many, many progeny working for us in the commercial cow herd. Out of the very good consistent, Crescent Creek Rosebud 15U donor dam that is sure nice uddered with that great Angus head on her. The cow was purchased from Black Ridge Angus to enter into the flush program. 3 sons made it to the sale and 2 daughters in the keeper pen. This are 49 commercial heifers from our herd and they come from the heart of the program. You will travel alot of miles to find the quality of these females.

The commercial cow herd is one of the best around. Most of these cows are based from raising herdbulls from the great Crescent Creek Rosebud 115F cow. We flushed her and used all of sons to create this cow herd. Very evenly set of brood matrons with great udders and structure. The calves are sired by Baldridge Bronc sons we used from many of our Rosebud cows at the farm.

The commercial heifers are very uniform set backed by a great set of cows.

Welcome to our 1st Annual Bull & Female sale. Thirteen years ago, we jumped head first into the Red Angus world and made a tiny ripple. Most referred to us then as the ‘Lucky 7 gals;’ a label that stuck with us over the years. We are a fourth-generation family farm south of Sedgewick, AB…in the middle of nowhere but the middle of everywhere we like to say. When we made the decision to get into the purebred Angus business, we all agreed on one thing; focus on quality over quantity. The base of our cowherd stems back to heifer calf purchases from Redrich Farms and Ter-Ron Farms and those original heifers can be traced back in lineage to many of the bulls and females on offer. I remember Terry Adams once saying “the biggest struggle of Reds is the females accumulate fast; so, find the cow families you like and keep every daughter you can.” Those words ring true every year when we are choosing replacement heifers. Our focus on quality has allowed us to be diligent on keeping only the top producing cows in the herd with a strict culling regime on udder attachment, foot structure, disposition and overall production.

Somedays we have to remind ourselves there are way too many good cows out there to make excuses for the average ones…so down the road they go. There will always be room for improvement but we are proud of the cowherd we have assembled. As you go through the catalogue, you’ll notice we have bulls sired by herd bulls we own and sires we incorporate into our program via artificial insemination. We strive to source up and coming genetics but we aren’t afraid to back track and use bulls that worked well for us and our customers in the past.

The bull pen this year is one we are extremely proud of; a silent reward of breeding decisions. Whether you are looking to add a calving ease or performance bull to your program we feel there is a bull to meet your needs. The bulls have been developed on free choice hay, 17% bull ration pellet from Country Junction Feeds and Rite-Lix 32-18 mineral tubs. We have always fed our bulls out with the mentality if we had to breed with them tomorrow, they would be able to get the job done.

The heifers on offer stem from some of our most productive cow families and if they weren’t in the sale, we would be breeding them to keep for ourselves. They have been developed on free choice hay and Rite Lix 32-18 mineral tubs. We welcome you to come out and go through the bulls and heifers any time before the

With limited Genesis semen on the market, we had mixed feelings on letting this guy go but you can’t keep them all. 280J is soggy, hairy and extremely wide based…and he stands on a near perfect foot. The dam 180B is a direct daughter of Red Ter-Ron Wicked 53Y; the $32,000 ½ interest Real Deal 01W son who was lost much too soon. 180B is a beautiful cow to look at; cherry red, hairy as heck, excellent footed and a good tight udder structure. She has been a bull building machine with sons going to Diamond H Ranch, Leslie Angus and Pleasantview Farms. 180B never misses and she truly outdid herself on this guy. We sure hope his full brother develops the way he has.

The only Specialist 430 calf on offer and he’s a gooder! This will be our third year using Specialist and we can’t get enough of the calves; moderate birthweights, unbeatable vigor at birth and true curve bender growth.

We calved out our first daughters this spring and couldn’t be more pleased; nice tight udders and milky. 22J had a lot of friends over summer and has continued to develop as we hoped he would. Nicely balanced with a very gentle disposition. The dam 22F is a beautiful Mission Nexus 1378 daughter that you wish you had a whole pen of. 22J is a bull we are confident will work on heifers.

We used C.I.H to inject some outcross genetics into our reds. 422J ranks near the top of the pen for cow bull prospects with his overall balance and good foot. She had our high selling heifer calf in the Northern Select two years ago to Excel Ranches.

Twin. Typically, I wouldn’t think to put a twin in our sale but when they look like this guy does how do you not. 117J is long bodied and possesses the added frame and cherry red color typical of his sire. The dam 117G was on the short list for mother of year last year…raising this guy and a few “crime of opportunity diners.” Though 117J is a twin I’m confident he could be used on heifers or cows. A little younger bull here but not to be overlooked. The dam 12C is a direct daughter of our donor cow Red Shoderee Lady 12W. 12C had our high selling heifer calf in the Northern Select in 2017 to Golden Sunset Ranch. If you’re looking for a bull that will leave you some dandy replacements females this would be a strong candidate. Red Dwajo Peterbilt 66G was purchased from Dwajo Angus as their high seller through the On Target sale in 2020. He’s a bull we couldn’t help but admire for his skull shape, smooth shoulder, incredible length of body and his foot structure. But besides the basic structural traits he had a presence about him and moved like a cat. You can’t help but admire a bull that has so much good about him. Recommended for heifers or cows. An interesting deal here. 481J another one of these good Peterbilt sons in a more moderate package. The dam 481E was an acquisition from the U2 dispersal and happens to be a direct Magnum 169W daughter going back to the infamous Erelite cow family… need I say more. 481J is bred for maternal greatness…keep every daughter you can!

If there was a bull in the pen who most closely resembled his sire it would be 17J. Cherry red, solid footed and with a touch extra frame to get the job done. We’ve had our eye on 17J since he was a calf and he always grabs your attention in the pen.

There was a lot of eenie meenie minee mo going on in our replacement pen to decide on five heifers and 63J somehow found herself on the list. She’s a fancy made, sharp fronted heifer that inherited depth of body and a good solid foot from her sire Genesis 103G. Her dam 53C is a big tanky cow that gets the job done without any fuss. Note the outcross on 53C going back to SAV Pioneer 7301. 53C has daughters at Leslie Angus, Davidson Angus and a son working for Kevin Manning. The maternal granddam 53Z is still in the herd producing at 10 years of age. Cool heifer with a little different genetic twist here. Parent verified.

We literally had to flip a coin to decide if 217J or her paternal sister 317J would be in the sale.

217J is a descendant of Red Round-up graduate Kuruba 217X who we acquired from Blairs.Ag as an open heifer in 2010. The cow family has left us many females in herd and if memory serves, we have only ever offered one for sale; Kuruba 217Z who sold to Mar Mac Farms at Red Round-up in 2012. The dam to this heifer 17F is yet another Serengetti 803C daughter. She is a moderate framed cow who stands on an excellent foot and has a mouth-watering good udder. 217J is the complete package and we look forward to seeing her develop for her new owner.
