Neonatal Marvel: The Infant Incubator
TheTransformativeRoleofTechnologyinMedicine
From the invention of the microscope, a breakthrough that dates back to the 17th century, to cuttingedge technology like the sequencing of the human genome or the development of ultra-modern medical imaging and diagnostic equipment, technology has been revolutionizing the art of medicine, enabling scientists and physicians to prevent, identify, and cure maladies in ways that were practically unfathomableafewcenturiesago
Among the vast wealth of worthy health-care instruments, is the crown jewel of all neonatal medical technology, the infant incubator. BirthoftheIncubator:AHistoricalJourney
It wasn't until 1722 that the first proof of the existence of a neonatal incubator was made, by an Italian physician, Giuseppe Liceti, who assembled a rudimental device inspired by an Egyptian poultry incubation facility. Since then, the technology has continued to blossom, with varied models being developed by experts such as Johann Georg von Rueh, Jean-Louis-Paul Denuce, Carl Crede, and the FrenchobstetricianStephaneTarnier, creditedastheinventoroftheincubatorforpreterminfants.
Despite being such an outstanding breakthrough, infant incubators didn't take off immediately in the healthcareindustry.Itwasn'tuntiltheearly1900swhencircusshowmen,likePierreBudinandthefamous Martin Couney, displayed live babies in 'miracle cradles' at exhibitions and fairs, saving thousands of babies in the course of their careers. It was during this era that neonatal incubators began to receive mainstreamandhospitalrecognitionfortheirpotentialbenefits.

In addition to enhancing infant survival, an incubator's ability to control humidity prevents excessive water loss from the skin, acting as a barrier against microbial pathogens. The sterile environment within the incubation chamber minimizes infection risks. By regulating temperature, humidity, and oxygen levels, incubators create an optimal environment for growth, development, and recovery from illness or injury Recent advancements include models offering extra support for a baby's developing lungs, addressing respiratory syndrome the leadingcauseofdeathinprematureneonates
Furthermore, incubators function as barrier nursing mechanisms for isolating sick infants. Constant monitoring of vital signs has significantly reduced complications, eliminating the need for medication and surgery. This, in turn, facilitates early hospital discharge, effectively reducing medical costs associated with pretermbirths.

The Plantation ofpassion P O
I'll make sure to get you a meticulous vase. On either the sides of the lawn up at the fore of your door; I'll make sure to nurture a garden of roses. The place will be overpopulated with a mixture of species for a perfect blend, For a healthy growins', I'll make sure to sprinkle both manure and water.
To fill up the magnificent vase, Pluck a bouquet each morning as soon as you get up.
Just like the darkest hour of the night, The future we hold like any other is hazy.
If the unfortunate happens, Renew the roses in the vase on a daily basis; An inference to the renewal off our love. Till the day that the garden will have no one to tend to it, And no one to refresh the contents of the vase, That will be the mark of the fall of our forever.
Wherever I'll be, I'll cross my fingers, And hope that another pair finds the vase, Feel the magical love that emanates from it, And oblige to take care of it passionately. And behold a mere vase turned into a plantation of passion to be passed to generations and generations.

I always wanted to be doctor It's a bit personal for me because whenIwasveryyoungmydadgotintoabigaccidentandhehad to get a leg implant I used to enjoy visiting him in hospital, I'd sit down and listen without exactly understanding what they were saying The clutches were really amazing to me and I needed to learneverythingabouthisconditionandatthattimeIcouldnever reallyunderstandwhatIwantedtounderstand
Growing up, my home was close to Aga Khan, Nairobi and there used to be this notice board with this beautiful amazing doctor andI'dtellmymumeverytimewe'dpassthatbillboardthatIwant to be like that doctor and she'd laugh it off until the time that I actually got into Medical School that she was so amazed.
