ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

THANK YOU

Without our volunteer stewards we would not be able to hold a Show.

In return for putting forward stewards to help in so many ways on Show Day, the Heathfield Agricultural Show, as a not for profit organisation benefitting the local community, has donated in excess of £360,000 to local organisations and causes in the past 10 years. In 2023 the following local clubs and societies who helped in the running of the Show, shared cash donations totalling in excess of £30,000. COMPETITIONS & RURAL ATTRACTIONS

No unauthorised personnel allowed in stock areas during judging

The Heathfi eld Agricultural Show is very proud to organise a Show that continues to offer a local shop window to the Wealden rural community. All sections of the Show contribute to make an interesting and exciting day for all whom love the countryside and rural attractions.

HORSE CLASSES

The Horse competition section of the Show is well known for its high quality classes. This year we will be holding qualifi ers for the Sunshine Tour Championships and there are a few new classes too including the Two Fence Challenge, Pairs and Rescue Horse & Pony. With five showing rings operating most of the day, there will be something for every equestrian lover.

CATTLE CLASSES

The Cattle competition allows breeders to show off their cattle in their ‘Sunday best’. The cattle classes are a beauty contest of the beasts, where judges are looking for structurally sound beasts with the ability to walk well and forage as grazing animals. This is an excellent section of the Show and the Cattle Committee and Show Council work hard to maintain it as a vital element to the overall Show.

THE FLOWER HUB

SPONSORED BY

Coordinated by: The Sussex Flower School and Flitterbrook Flower Farm

New for 2024, this section of the Show will bring you a brilliant display of seasonal flowers, an education area, eco-floristry techniques, demonstrations, plants and accessory sales and much more. Make sure to add it to your list to visit on the day.

HEATHFIELD AGRICULTURAL SHOW 2024 – 77TH SHOW 12

SHEEP CLASSES

This year the Sheep classes have been very well supported with over 300 entries! This is going to be a very busy section of the Show with lots to see and exhibitors showing Southdown Sheep, our local breed.

YOUNG ACHIEVER AWARD

HENRY NOAKES

YOUNG ACHIEVER

TROPHY

Judge: Ros Scott

Presented by the Noakes family in memory of Henry Noakes.

The award this year will be presented to a young person under the age of 18 years of age showing an animal in a Cattle class and who, in the view of the Judge, has shown an outstanding ability.

The award is rotational between the Pig, Sheep, Cattle and Horse classes. In 2025 it will be awarded to an exhibitor in the Sheep section.

HEATHFIELD AGRICULTURAL SHOW 2024 – 77TH SHOW 14

Heffle WI are really pleased to be asked again to represent the WI at Heathfield show for 2024.

We are excited to showcase Heffle and our aim is to highlight the WI in Heathfield and nationally, with its fun and camaraderie.

This year, our theme is butterflies and to showcase the important part they play in the countryside. We will be inviting everyone to colour in a flower and stick it to our collage. So, bring all the children to our stand to take part (there is no charge to colour a butterfly!). The WI stand will be decorated with butterflies and lots of literature to promote our local WI and the WI nationally. We will have our wellloved tombola in action and other games including our popular Heffle or bust so come along and have a go or have a chat with one of the team.

Our WI has also invited our members to take part in a competition prior to the show to high light a cause close to our hearts – breast cancer, come and see the winning entries in the form of bras!

We would love to see you especially if you have ever wondered about joining this popular national institution

Heffle WI would like to thank the show committee for giving us this opportunity to be at the show again and wish them a great success for 2024

MICRO BREWERY FESTIVAL

KINDLY ORGANISED BY THE GUN BREWERY – WWW.GUNBREWERY.CO.UK

We brew at Gun Hill on a beautiful 140 acre organic mixed farm in the Sussex Weald. The farm has a history of hop growing and some survive to this day in the hedgerows. Our aim is simple; inspired by brewing styles both old and new, to make great beer, using the best ingredients. Our range of beers are brewed using our own spring water source, most are vegan and a growing number are also gluten free.

We supply to pubs and shops across Sussex and our full range is available to try in our taproom, open Thursday to Sunday.

The Sheraton Brown band will be providing live music on Show Day

LEARN ABOUT STUDY OPTIONS.

Visit the Plumpton College stand and learn about study options such as leisure courses, further education, apprenticeships and university courses.

There are many career and progression opportunities in land & environment, animal science and food production – from agriculture to equine, blacksmithing & metalwork, to floristry and wine.

The land-based sector is seeing the most significant changes for over 50 years, driven by technological advances, climate change, conservation and sustainability. Find out how we prepare the next generation for a dynamic and greener future.

Visit our stand to learn more about what LandPro Training delivers – a specialist provider of industry training & assessments in agriculture; forestry & arboriculture; health & safety; pesticides, and more.

VINTAGE TRACTOR & WORKING STEAM

ORGANISED BY SEVAC. SPONSORED BY THE VICKERY FAMILY

This section of the Show gives visitors a visual history lesson in the development of the tractor and how it transformed into the modern machinery that we see today. On display will be a wide variety of tractors which were developed to achieve the same thing – to reduce the manual effort needed on every farm up and down the country. This was especially true during the Second World War when every acre was needed to feed the nation.

Popular models such as Fordson and Ferguson will be well represented, but also look out for rarer models that were built in smaller numbers or were imported to the UK from Europe or America.

This year we are celebrating 60 years of the Massey Ferguson 100 series. Four new models were introduced to the public at the Smithfield Show in 1964. They had a fresh modern design with a striking new colour scheme.

In addition to the vintage tractors, there will be wood sawing demonstrations throughout the day. A steam traction engine will also be on display – this engine will have driven to the showground under its own power from the Claude Jessett Collection based at Tinkers Park in Hadlow Down.
