SAME SPRINTER NAME BUT LOTS OF CHANGE
Despite a production run of 25 years, the key to securing the right used Horsch tine drill remains as it always has. Knowing what you need and having the patience to find the right drill for your budget.

Comment: Entry level 4 CO drills will still do the job. Early models with automotive tyre packer and Accord metering less common now. A CO can need attention to bring up to standard if in poor shape. 6.0m CO models less common.
Price point: £12,750 for good example. Entry level models from well under £10k
Horsch launched its CO tine drill models back in 1999, the Sprinter arriving in 2005. Although the Sprinter tag is still with us, it follows that the drills have evolved. Back then, the Müller Drill Manager system had just been updated to a new design with a single display and with it seed flow monitoring was made available. The latter became the default fit.
To get an overview of how Sprinter drills have evolved, to include the previous CO, see the separate panel that outlines key changes. There are other developments that have been made but it is the main ones that are important.
WHERE TO START?
As a used buy, it is perhaps best to consider Sprinter models made from around 2010 as the most suitable for front line work. Although a CO or an early Sprinter drill can still do a good job, post-2010 Sprinter drills benefit from a host of developments that can make them easier to update and be less costly to maintain.

SPRINTER 4 ST HORSCH

Price point: £24,750 for ready to go drill, but pay half for drill needing work
a Horsch CO and early Sprinter drill need to be aware these would have been fitted with a Classic leg shank. These will trip at around 150kg, a relatively light load that could see these drills dismissed as unsuitable for use in heavier ground.
The MultiGrip leg shank, introduced from late 2005, was made standard from around 2010. This is a more versatile design that can be used with a broad range of alternative leg designs to match a wider range of tips and coulters. It will also trip at a higher 200kg plus.
MÜLLER DRILL MANAGER
Drills made from 2010 will have been fitted with a Müller Drill Manager system. Although Drill Manager has been updated and developed, the first ‘single control box’ version is still relatively up to date. This can make upgrades less expensive than with earlier systems, or more comprehensive, dependent upon how much you want to spend. ISOBUS control arrived from 2012. This can be a double-edged sword as it can mean a used buy has no dedicated control box. Fine if your tractor can work with the

drill controller, less so if not. Upgrades and modifications can be made but the costs can vary. If a used buy looks right for your needs but would benefit from controller updates, seek advice. The ‘wrong’ buy may be expensive to bring up to the spec you want.
A LITTLE ON CO HISTORY
Although Sprinter drills share their basic design with the original CO predecessor, a re-metalled CO will never be the same as a Sprinter. A CO remains a viable buy for some, but be aware that:
• CO drills are likely to have a pto powered pneumatic fan that needs to be driven at a fixed 1,000rpm.
• Classic shank legs are all that were available on the CO. These have fewer coulter options than a Sprinter fitted with the MultiGrip units (available from around 2005).
• CO drills have bolt-on stub axle packers. Early models have ‘road pattern’ tyres.
Lower link drawbar pivot is one area that can get overlooked, a timely re-bush and fresh pin typically resolving any wear.
• CO drills available in 3.0m, 4.0m and 6.0m sizes.
Horsch CO drills came in 3.0m, 4.0m and 6.0m working widths, with the 4.0m the most popular. When the Sprinter was launched, it was offered initially in 3.0m, 4.0m and 6.0m working widths, with the latter becoming, and remaining, the most popular model. Those on the hunt for a used Sprinter will have little trouble finding a 4.0m drill, (or 4.0m CO).
If you are after a 6.0m drill, you will have a

struggle to find one. As is so often the case, the most popular working width new is the most sought after used. An added point is that tine drills in general are economical to maintain and, with a wide choice of coulter and leg types that fit a MultiGrip Sprinter, versatile. Those that own a Sprinter drill are likely to hang onto them, even if they run an alternative drill for much of their front-line drilling.
As to the wider 8.0m Sprinter ST models there may be more used availability, with
Seed Wagon SW variants offering greater autonomy with their 8,000 litre seed and fertiliser hoppers.
As is so often the case, it pays to put used buying feelers out well ahead of needing the drill and not being afraid to talk through you needs with a Horsch dealer or used machinery specialist.
BASIC PRE-BUY CHECKS
Regardless of age, the first job should be to establish the drill’s overall condition. Find out if the drill’s electronics are in good order and ask extra questions relating to corrosion on combination fertiliser models. Increased spring sowing due to wet autumns has put an added value on ‘combine’ drills. Be careful as it is all too easy to buy upon the drill’s spec and not delve deeper into its condition.
You need to ensure you understand the control systems fitted. This can be difficult because Horsch and its dealers make upgrades relatively easy. A revised cable, drill computer and replaced motor control modules can see an older drill brought up to near current specs. If you are not sure what you are getting, then you need to delve deeper. The operating software version will show on later single Müller in-cab control boxes but this is only useful if you know what it means.
As with any used buy, you will need to work harder than you would if buying new. There is plenty of help and advice available, but you can only access it if you ask. >>
HORSCH CO AND SPRINTER DRILLS – KEY DEVELOPMENTS
2001: Ground radar Drill Manager option plus retrofit kits. HD heavy duty tyre packer option.
2003: Horsch metering starts to replace Accord on Drill Manager spec drills.
2004: Humped drawbar and double-tine rear harrow.
2005: CO phased out as Sprinter 6 ST introduced. Streamlined 3,000 litre hopper on frame (Seed Cart on 6 CO). External seed distribution head. MultiGrip coulter holder available. This new design enables Sprinter 6 ST to fold to 3.0m. Hydraulic fan mounted to rear of hopper. Covering discs replaced by two rows of tines. Front packer option.
2006: 4.0m Sprinter 4 ST. Spec as 6 ST but with Classic shank coulter holder. 4 ST drill lifts on all 12 packer wheels, 4 CO running on central 10. Müller single control box phased in.
2007: Bolt-on stub axles for rear packer. Sprint 8 ST with two rows of coulters and increased 32cm spacing with wider bottom plate to broadcast seed. Front packer becomes part of default ST 8 package.
2008: Sprinter 12 SW available. Electronic controller changed from Agtron to Müller.
2009: 3.0m Sprinter 3 ST with two rows of legs and 32cm spacing. Same hopper and seed system as 4.0m. MultiGrip coulter holder introduced as default fit to all Sprinter drills but Classic still available.
2011: Classic shank coulter holder no longer available (rare spec choice by now anyway).
2012: Sprinter models now all ISOBUS compatible. Allows tractor or stand-alone controller. Check with a Horsch dealer as the job computer may have been changed to meet revised ISOBUS protocols. Some early units may not communicate with some tractor models.
NOTE: It may be possible to update the electronics of a pre-2012 drill by fitting a wiring new loom and job computer but check. There are numerous different choices on offer that can include updating how the drill is controlled. This can mean the cost of updates can vary greatly and some upgrades can be costly.
2015: Larger packer tyres and increased ply rating with strengthened axles with bolt on greaseable hubs. (Previous design run on nylon block axles)
2016: Increased availability of third-party coulter options for MultiGrip coulter holder, with many opting to change from the popular Horsch Duett to alternatives to include narrow designs for beans and low disturbance rape sowing through to wider coulters for band sowing. (See alternative coulter panel).
2017: Horsch broaden coulter offering to include wide and thin edge coulters designs.
It is easy to spot the Classic shank fitted to CO and early Sprinter drills, these having twin springs linked via a U bolt. A modest trip force of 150kg, linked to the design being prone to wear, saw it phased out by 2011.
WHAT’S USED
MultiGrip shank with dual shot Duett coulters (left). The leg can be unbolted to allow alternatives to be fitted. Dual side coulters (right) are an option that can help levelling in some soils.
INSPECTION POINTERS
If possible, try and break your inspection into sections. It can be tempting to go straight to the more obvious check areas, such as wearing metal, hopper cover and metering unit only to ‘overlook’ pivot points, the tyre press, bout markers. A few details are listed in the picture captions but consider the following.
Chassis: Repairs may have been made, particularly on older drills. The key is to check they have been carried out well. Higher powered tractors put greater stress on ‘hard worked’ units in adverse conditions, with Horsch, like most other
makers, having made subtle design changes to the drills to cope with more power. That said, it is wear as opposed to damage that will be the key check point.
The depth control ram upper pivot needs to be re-bushed as soon as any play is detected. Check this and wing fold pivots carefully.
FRONT AND REAR PACKERS
As late as 2010, only half of all new Sprinter ST 4 and ST 6 drills will have had a front tyre packer fitted. Sprinter 8 ST drills sold from launch in the UK will all have a front packer. If deeper primary cultivation has been carried out, the front packer will consolidate a less
firm soil ahead of the coulters, leading to a more even finish and a much-reduced tendency to make and leave furrows. The front packer also helps to spread the weight of the drill, a real plus in tricky going.
The rear tyre packer has the rubber tyred wheels mounted in staggered pairs on a walking axle. As the rear packer wheels take the weight of the drill in transport it is important to pay particular attention to wear both in the tyres and related wheel bearings. These packers are not designed to run at a high transport speed, nor is it advisable to transport the drill over a significant distance with full hoppers. If buying privately, you

Spares for these units are available but repairs can now be costly, making an upgrade to later Müller systems well worth considering. A point to note is that these Agtron systems must be wired directly to the tractor battery, with the wiring protected by a main 100amp fuse. The latter must be free of any corrosion. A reduction in current draw to the job computer can lead to sensor error codes.
The final Horsch Agtron set up replaced the twin control boxes with a single display, with modified control modules and a revised job computer. Unless you really know your control systems it is best to leave upgrades to a specialist.
need to be careful as it is easy to buy a drill with a packer that has been ‘abused’.
Horsch has made several changes to the tyres and packers fitted to these drills. The packer bearings fitted to drills made prior to 2007 have adjustable wheel bearings with play taken up using a pair of 36mm spanners. These should be in the drill’s toolkit. From 2007, the wheel stub axles bolt to the walking axle and run of nylon axles, another change in 2015 seeing strengthened axles fitted with greaseable hubs.
Cleat 185/65-15 tyres will be fitted to early Sprinter drills, with a move to 7.50x16 profile tyres when the axle design was changed. Later 2015 drills have the same tyre size but their ply rating was increased from 8 to 10. The central press tyres may have been filled with a puncture sealant as tyre pressure checks often get overlooked. It is worth checking.
The central 12 press tyres are most liable
to wear, but deciding when the tyres need renewing can in part depend upon how the drill is transported. If you are not doing a lot of roadwork and have the ‘time’ to drive at a
more modest pace on hard surfaces, a ‘worn’ tyre may last well. New tyre prices vary and be aware that the tyre sizes can vary, so it is wise to check.
WHAT’S USED
The axle and tyres fitted to the presses have changed. A quick sidewall check is easiest, a 15in tyre with 8-ply rating running on nylon axled bearings on drills made up until 2015. Later models have a 16in 10-ply tyre running on greaseable bearings.
SHANKS AND COULTERS
CO and early Sprinter drills are fitted with a 150kg trip force Classic shank leg mount. Wearing parts and spares are available for these but the choice of tips and coulters on offer is more limited. Classic shank legs are likely to be subject to lateral play between the cast mounting and flipper plate. These wear items are easy enough to renew but parts are not cheap.
The MultiGrip system, offered from late 2005 and the default fit from 2010 is the design to seek out. The Classic shank was dropped from 2011 so be aware that
a ‘later’ Sprinter may have these fitted although it is unlikely. MultiGrip trip force is 200kg plus and will enable a coulter to work into harder ground.
When it comes to coulters, there have been several developments to include alternative designs offered by third parties. The ‘default fit’ Horsch Duett coulter has been through several changes, but the key elements remain. New wearing parts should fit older drills but it can be worth checking. Also note third party designs may attach via a different leg.

Müller single control box from around 2005 boasts more features and has an easily understood display. Seed flow sensors remained an option, but half of all new Sprinters sold in UK at the time would have had them fitted.
both needing to be replaced before they stop protecting the yellow plastic coulter wings. Prices for new base plates can vary seasonally, add the cost of new side plates and it is clear wearing metal costs per leg can soon add up.
CO and Sprinter drills have three rows of legs with an inter-coulter spacing of 25cm. The exception is the 8 ST. This has two rows of legs with increased inter-coulter spacing to 32cm for trash clearance. A wider bottom plate will need to be fitted to these models to ‘broadcast’ the seed more widely within each row. The same wide spacing/twin row design is used on the Sprinter 12 SW. >>
Müller colour display arrived in late 2009 with updated software and hardware from this point being easier to update. ISOBUS control arrived in 2012, with an increasing number of drills being sold without a dedicated control box. Drills from this era may not always communicate with some tractors so check.
CO drills and pre-2006 Sprinter drills would have been offered with a dual-box Horsch Agtron control system.
Hopper covers keep out the rain but are not designed to provide full protection on drills stored outside. Always check inside the hopper. Poorly cleaned combination drills can see quite severe corrosion damage that is difficult to cure once it gets a hold.
Hydraulic drive to the pneumatic fan is reliable but it has seen a few design tweaks. Look this area over carefully and check the fan itself for damage and any play.
WHAT’S USED
COULTER LEGS AND SHARES
Subtle design changes have been made to the Duett Coulter, replacements parts being a direct retrofit. A Solid bottom plate is the best option for abrasive soils.
Plastic plates need renewing before they wear through as pictured. Although you can expect a drill to be sold even by a dealer with some wear on the coulters, make sure you cost in replacements. Order a set of new of parts with your used buy to ensure they are ready to fit as needed. Time lost waiting for new parts can make a big difference in a catchy season.
Paired tines fitted to the Sprinter drills do a good levelling job in a wider range of conditions and are generally preferred to the discs fitted to the CO drills.
DISC COVERS AND TINES
CO drills have a set of levelling discs, two rows of spring tines doing the same job on the Sprinter. The tines tend to do a better job in varied conditions and at differing speeds plus they are less expensive to renew. Consider this if weighing up between a used late CO and early Sprinter.
SEED SYSTEM
The seed hopper capacity on a CO is 2,500 litres and 3,000 litres on the Sprinter where the seed distribution system is outside the hopper. SW seed cart models have capacities of 3,500 litres or 5,000 litres.
Original CO drills were originally fitted with Accord metering, with a Horsch design working to the same principles being phased in from 2003. The pneumatic fan on CO drills has a direct pto drive from the tractor, a long air tube running along the drawbar to the seed distribution unit in the hopper. The fan needs to run at a constant 1,000rpm, with its bearings typically needing to be renewed at least once a season.
Sprinter drills have a hydraulically powered fan which is both more reliable and less fussy over the tractor’s engine speed.
CONTROL SYSTEM
Up until 2006, Sprinter drills use a dual control box Drill Manager system. Although like those used on CO drills, the controllers did change. The cable connector pins can bend, failed units typically being easier to swap out for new than trying to repair. Subsequent Müller systems have a single control box, with several different units having been fitted as you would expect.
The meter roller is accessed via the plate secured by butterfly nuts. It is worth removing the installed item and look for damage. The flexible flap on the removable restrictor plate is a wear item. It can wear, leading to inaccuracies in seed distribution. Make sure the drill comes with alternative meter rollers to suit a range of seeds. Note the paint is lifting at the base of the hopper. On combination drills, look out for corrosion.
Earlier Sprinter drills may be retrofitted with an updated Müller system, with seed flow sensing added. This could have been a relatively economical update at the time, and it is one that will enhance the appeal of a used buy.
SUMMARY
As it is a 6.0m Sprinter ST that most used buyers are after it follows that you will need to work harder to find one. A Horsch dealer or good specialist may be able to source a drill for you, or at least know when one is likely to come in to them as a trade-in. Just be careful when it comes to pricing. Kit that is in demand can sell for a lot more than you would want to pay.
Sprinter 4.0m ST drills are easier come by, with prices that vary widely. Consider the drill’s condition, specification, and if it has been upgraded. Also consider the wearing parts fitted. Some sales could include alternative coulter sets but these are only useful if they fit your needs.
ONE DRILL. LOTS OF CHOICE
Horsch ThinEdge and WideEdge coulters (right) suit direct drilling and 7cm band sowing respectively and are increasingly chosen in place of more familiar Duett coulters.
The most popular Horsch OEM coulter has been the Duett and these are offered with a choice of working widths and with different tip options to include the narrow Duett Solo. Those after a simple wing coulter have the option of fitting an Alpar wing coulter, Horsch offering around eight basic designs to suit a range of applications.
A key advantage of a Sprinter drill fitted with a MultiGrip coulter holder is that a wide range of alternative coulters can be fitted to include third party choices. Although it follows that Horsch would prefer to sell you its own ‘wearing metal’, the company accept alternative designs may suit a wider range of soils, cultivation regimes and, of course, prevailing conditions.
DUTCH OPENERS
Latest Universal GS Series Dutch Opener is one of several designs available for Sprinter drills. Horsch can supply a new drill without coulters, recognising the popularity of alternatives to their own designs.
Canadian firm Dutch Industries offer modular legs that bolt to existing Horsch MultiGrip and these then allow a choice of points and fertiliser tube arrangements can be added. These include a twin-row 127mm (5in) for cereals and oilseed rape, 25mm (1in) for establishing legumes such as beans and peas. Further alternatives include 50mm (2in) and 76mm (3in) points.
Spreader plates are available in 50mm (2in), 76mm (3in) and 127mm (5in) widths. These fit the base of the delivery tube and are designed to spread seed across the point’s full width to create a wider crop band.
WHAT’S USED
JJ METCALFE
The popular slim 12mm coulter was a key development that saw many Sprinter users exploit the tines’ ability to work direct into the stubble and help reduce the cost of establishing crops to include oilseed rape. Winged alternatives are among the range of options offered.
JJ Metcalfe offer a slim 12mm coulter, with tungsten carbide-tipped blade, designed to work in uncultivated stubbles. These coulters are claimed to offer minimal soil movement and are popular with those seeking to deal with perennial weed grasses.
A key feature is that the seed tube is positioned above the ground and behind the coulter, so the point is the only part of metal in contact with the ground to give a true channel width of 12mm. Tungsten tiles on the coulter flank to hold the slit open, it is claimed, to allow the seed to fall into place before the slit seals on itself. Other coulter options, to include wing designs, are available.
BOURGAULT
Relatively narrow BT Single Shoot opener has replaceable boot. Bourgault offers a wide choice of coulter options, with units designed to place fertiliser either side of the seed.
Bourgault VOS Versatile Opener System coulters come in single seed-only and twin-row combinations that can place starter fertiliser below the seed in a channel created by the tillage nose at the front of the opener. Designs include a 100mm twin row for laying seed and fertiliser with shallow-angle wings claimed to minimise soil disturbance through to units developed to lay seed in two rows with fertiliser placed in the middle. A tillage nose that creates a slot for the fertiliser to sit below the seed is also offered.
Other choices include single-row seed-only versions from 19mm to 100mm, the latter suiting all crop types., A wider 150mm (6in) opener is also available. Bourgault’s legs use the same mounting holes as the original Horsch units.

Well here we are with most of the local ploughing matches all concluded with good crowds at all, unfortunately the Weald event was rather wet.
A number of road run and rally organisers are asking to see clarification of your insurance documentation when arriving on site. This includes from lorry and caravan insurance to your insurance on your tractor. A number have been found to be invalid and turned away by security staff and section leaders at such events. Do have your documents to hand and currently valid as things are certainly being tightened up in this respect and at one event 17 entrants had to be turned away and that is just one example.
INSURANCE TRADGEDY AT RALLY
On the evening of 9 August at the Severn Vale Vintage Club annual show in Gloucestershire the male passenger on a vintage tractor was killed when it crashed into hedges and parked vehicles.
The driver is under investigation for causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through alcohol. The show was cancelled on the Sunday owing to the tragedy of Saturday evening. The Police are looking for witnesses to the incident please contact the Gloucestershire Police. Please note that the law for vintage tractors in a public place is one person one tractor not two or more it will clearly invalidate your insurance if something happens.

DISPOSAL SALE OF BUNTING BROTHERS
On Thursday 4 September Cheffins held the disposal sale of the Bunting Brothers machinery on the 230 acre Broctons Farm, Debden, Essex. This is one of ten substantial autumn sales Cheffins are undertaking and the prices were certainly hot especially for the classic tractors.
Nothing was very new here, but everything was well kept and that was reflected in the prices starting with the 2006 John Deere 6920S PowrQuad 50k box and 10,952 hours still selling for £30,500.
The same year JD 6920 Autopower with 40k box and 5,714 hours sold online for £35,000. A venerable 1984 JD 3140 Power Synchron four-wheel drive with air conditioning with 5,838 hours sold for a stomping £18,500. A 2002 Massey Ferguson 6265 two-wheel drive with Power Control and 4,442 hours was yours at £18,000.

4,315 hours on it which was knocked down after a long and protracted bidding process at £27,000. The 1997 JD 2058 combine with 3,386 drum hours, for which £18,000 was paid and the 1998 JCB 530-70 Farm Special Turbo with 8,163 hours was moved on at £18,000. Lastly the 16 JD weights made £750 and similar money was exchanged for the 12 Ford weights. All in all a very strong sale.

FANTASTIC DAY
One of my favourite ploughing matches is the Romney Marsh Ploughing & Cultivating Society’s event that took place on Sunday 7 September. Held at AJ Thompson and Sons fine farmland at Ham Street as usual this was a well organised match. The weekly forecast did not look good for the match, but what a glorious day it turned out to be with fine sunshine while the match progressed.
The ploughing was not easy as there were tramlines all over the place and co transport owner Austin West mastered it all and took the Supreme Champion award with his original 1936 Case C and Ransomes RSLD plough that was also the class winner in the Vintage Trailer class. Runner-up in this class was T Offen who won the ‘Best Ford’ trophy and was four points behind the winner. Third was M Maynard and fourth was Oliver West with his mighty Case L which had been a problem child the day before and needed a replacement magneto and leads to keep it running perfectly as it was on the Sunday. This is not an easy tractor to handle at any match particularly as it’s on steel wheels and is not small. When built the L it was the most powerful tractor in the world. Last year’s winner Ken Hammant could only finish fifth here.
The Classic Class saw Ben Marsh win with his International B275 and Ransomes TS86, who beat ‘South East Ploughing King’ Ian Linch who was five points behind, third was the reliable P Basely with his Fordson Super Dexta Ransomes outfit. D Linch was fourth and Bob Baseby with his superb Ford Pre Force Super Dexta was fifth. As for the Grey Ferguson class, saw R Kennett came out on top with his TE-D, second was C Ridley, third was M Jones with his rare TE-C, fourth Peter Curd and fifth R Morris.
In the Novice Class S Curd came top followed by A Holt and R Bournes. We moved to the Classic Conventional Reversible Plough section where top class tractor engineer Michael Butler was well ahead with his JD 1120 and Ransomes TS82 from P Batt with his Roadless 75 with Ransomes III plough, third was Ian Draper and fourth was Alan Pilcher with his MF 35X and Ransomes TS81 plough which he was using for the first time.
We moved to the Classic Reversible Plough class judged by Quentin Waring and Tony Leach where M Cullen was first with the Leyland 272 and Ransomes TSR102, R Christmas with his JD2130 Kverneland was runner-up and T Lavender JD2140 with rare Dunns plough finished third. All in all it had been a great start to the ploughing

AMAZING BIDDENDEN TRACTORFEST
This year saw the Kent Agricultural Society introduce site capacity for the first time at the Biddenden Tractorfest. This was put in place to help manage visitor numbers whilst retaining the feel and essence of the show. The event was a sell out both days, seeing 19,000 visitors over the weekend of 16-17 August.
In total, 324 tractors were booked to exhibit including the show's first electric tractor, a 2025 Fendt orchard tractor entered by N P Seymour. The famous finale arena display saw 164 tractors joining together in the ring in glorious weather both days. Alongside
tractors, there were seven full-size steam engines, over 40 scale steam miniatures alongside horticultural machinery, stationary engines, bygones, emergency services and a growing military section. Additionally there were approximately 200 classic cars each day.
The Biddenden Tractorfest was once again put together by its committee of volunteers, with support from the charity Kent County Agricultural Society, with the aim of putting on a familyfriendly celebration of rural heritage whilst also giving back to the local and farming community. This year's donation recipients will be announced in due course.
BIGGEST RALLY IN THE WORLD THIS YEAR

The biggest rally in 2025 didn’t take place in the UK or Ireland, but at Rantoul, Illinois, USA on 21-24 August on a former USAF training ground with vast runways and more.
There were over 5,000 exhibits and 27,000 people who came to the Half Century of Farm Progress Show along with 10,000 buggies which for walkers cause something of hazard. All the major USA clubs exhibited here and auctioneering companies, museums and tractor magazine suppliers were all at the show with stands. However the most impressive club stand

was by Farmall 51 and its line up of the 1206 turbo diesel model (1966-67) numbered an amazing 263, most were very well restored.
Over the other side of the showground was the Yellow Power Facebook Group display of some 100 Caterpillar, Holt and Best machines. The oldest dating back is a 1912 Holt Caterpillar crawler still in possession of the fifth generation of the original purchasers.

The Ages’ dating back to 1917 with the Case 20-40 to mighty artics from the 1960-80s including a very rare Randall and McConnell besides Versatile and Steiger who were just a few of the names taking part.
On three of the evenings a professional duel sledge tractor pull took place on both sides of the track for stock and vintage machinery classes including some 1960s four-engined monsters to six pre-1920 veteran tractors taking part. They were watched by over 4,000 people in the stands with an excellent three man commentary team.

JOHN DEERE AT EURO AUCTIONS
There was a varied selection of tractors on offer at the July/August Euro Auction sale with around 80 machines heading for the selling ramp at their Leeds base. As ever, the condition of the machines varied, ranging from top notch ready to work examples to those that were in poorer condition probably needed some attention. Others looked as if restoration might be a possibility, either way there was enough to keep the prospective buyers both on site and via the internet interested.
In true Euro Auction’s tradition, some crawler tractors were the first to go under the hammer. Here a 2016 Caterpillar Challenger MT765 crawler tractor that was showing 9,777 hours on the clock came out on top when it sold for £17,000, but it was the John Deere name that led the way when it came to the ordinary tractors.
Here, one of the stars of the show was a 2018 JD 6155M which was showing 5,266 hours on the clock. Also on offer was a John
Deere 6145R from 2016 that had a reported 7,680 hours behind it. Both tractors were in very good grade 10 condition, with each going on to sell for £44,000, making them the most expensive tractors in the auction.
There was a good selection of other John Deere tractors on offer at the sale, with a 7280R from 2012 selling £35,000 despite having 10,255 hours on the clock, while several other John Deeres sold for around the £20,000 mark. These included a 6630 from 2009 with 9,210 hours behind it that made £22,000, while a 5820 from 2007 that was fitted with a JD583 front loader sold for £20,000.
Then came a series of 5090Ms that caught the eye, mainly due to their unusual blue livery. All were fitted with a JD loader and bucket with hours ranging from 1,344 to 2,075. Their ages varied too, with some dating from 2010 and another from 2013, but in the end their selling price was consistent with all being bought for £22,500. Also fitted with a front loader and bucket was a 5090M from 2013 that was

There was competitive bidding throughout the sale, with the New Holland name also being prominent. The most expensive turned out to be a T7.210 that dated from 2018 that was showing 8,434 hours on the clock. In good overall condition, that sold for £38,500, while a 2011 NH T6030 that was fitted with a G390 front loader and was showing only 1,498 hours on the clock made £26,000.
When it came to a selection of Kubota tractors, a M7171 from 2016 that had a reported 6,079 hours on the clock came out on top when it sold for £32,000 despite being classed as a Category D insurance loss. Then came a 2020 Kubota M7152 with 6,924 hours behind it that sold for £26,000, while the best of the Valtra tractors on offer turned out to be a T254 that dated from 2018. With 8,446 hours behind it, this example went on to sell for £34,000, while a pair of Valtra T163s that dated from 2012 and 2013 respectively each sold for £21,000.
As for the Case tractors, a Puma 215 and 160 that dated from 2012 and 2013 respectively both sold for £23,000 each, while the best of the Massey Fergusons on offer was a 7618 from 2013 sold for £18,500 despite being classed as a Category B Insurance Loss. Then came a 2006 MF 6475 with 8,975 hours on the clock that sold for £17,500, while a very tidy 2005 Hurlimann XT-105 that was fitted with a Sigma 4 front loader that was showing 5,718 hours on the clock sold for £17,000.

TOP PERFORMANCE
Claas presents four new forage harvesters from the Jaguar 1000 series, which enable throughput capacities of up to 480 tonnes per hour with the widest crop flow on the market, new front attachments and pioneering driver assistance. The Jaguar 1000 also defines a new level of operating and driving comfort - true to the motto "Inspired by the best".
With four new models in the Jaguar 1000 series, the new Pick Up generation and the new Orbis 9000 and 10500, Claas is establishing a new class in the field of self-propelled forage harvesters with throughput capacities of up to 480 tonnes per hour. "Inspired by the best" is synonymous with throughput capacity, chopping quality, comfort and efficiency.
FULLY HYDRAULIC PRE-COMPRESSION
Claas has developed the widest crop flow channel on the market for the Jaguar 1000 in conjunction with a new pre-compression system. The four pre-compression rollers work with a fully hydraulic pre-compression system and thus enable a uniform crop flow regardless of the layer thicknessthis guarantees uniform feeding of the V-FLEX chopping cylinder and thus ensures maximum throughput with homogeneous chop quality and optimum overall efficiency of the machine.
The pre-compression rollers can be raised hydraulically for cleaning work using the maintenance function. Thanks to Quick Access, the entire pre-compression unit can be swivelled up to 80 degrees for
maintenance work in just a few simple steps. The tilting frame with hydraulic centring for Pick Up and Orbis is located on the pre-compression unit.
The pre-compression rollers ensure a uniform crop flow regardless of the layer thickness thanks to the new, fully hydraulic pre-compression system. The pre-compression unit can be swivelled open by 80 degrees for maintenance work.
NEW 910MM WIDE V-FLEX CHOPPING CYLINDER
In 2024, Claas introduced the innovative V-Flex chopping cylinder for the Jaguar 900. Thanks to its 910mm width, the Jaguar 1000 now offers even more space and inertia for maximum throughputs and continuous crop flow even at the highest swath thicknesses
– for example in the harvest of whole crop silage. The crop is cut even more efficiently thanks to the steep knife angle of 10 degrees. This is not only noticeable in the excellent chop quality, but also in the reduced noise level. The V-Flex chopping cylinder can be fitted with full and half knife sets as well as half-section knives, enabling a uniquely wide chop length range. The knives, fastened from above with three screws, are fixed in the drum stars and automatically aligned. Setting the knives to the shear bar and readjusting them is not necessary.
With a width of 910mm, the V-Flex chopping cylinder stands for maximum, continuous and blockage-free crop flow, even with the thickest swaths and in difficult harvesting conditions.
NEW MULTI CROP CRACKER XL
Throughput levels of up to 480 t/h require effective centre punching and residual plant processing in silage maize harvesting. The Jaguar 1000 is ideally equipped for this thanks to the Multi Crop Cracker XL. Available either as the MCC XL Classic with a sawtooth profile with various teeth and a 40% speed difference or as the MCC XL Shredlage with a 50% speed difference, it offers a very large contact surface between the rollers with a 310mm roller diameter, ensuring excellent conditioning across the entire available chop length range and even at the highest throughput capacities.
With a roller diameter of 310mm, the Multi Crop Cracker XL is the most powerful grain processor on the market – optionally with MCC Classic or MCC Shredlage® rollers.
NEW PICK UP GENERATION
Perfectly matched to the performance of the new Jaguar 1000, Claas has developed new front attachments for the Jaguar. The Pick Up 3000, 3800 and the new 4500 with independent variable drive of pick-up and intake auger speed. With Cemos Auto Header, the auger and pick-up speeds are automatically adjusted to the length of cut and the driving speeds during harvesting. The models cover working widths of 3m, 3.8m and 4.5m, and are characterised by a number of
innovative features. Instead of chain drives, mechanical power is transmitted via pto drive shafts and gearboxes. With its constant hydraulic pre-press pressure, the intake auger ensures an even crop flow to the feeder unit. In addition, the strippers between the tines are made of robust plastic and, thanks to the clip system, can be removed individually and easily using just a screwdriver. Last but not least, the Active Contour control in combination with the swingarm-mounted pick-up ensures optimum ground contour following and thus loss-free harvesting even at high forward speeds.
NEW ORBIS GENERATION
In maize harvesting, the new Orbis series with working widths of 9m and 10.50m (12 and 14 rows) is impressive. Another new feature here is the independent variable drive of the knife and transport discs as well as the feed drums for the best chopping quality in all harvesting conditions and lengths of cut. From the comfort of the cab, the operator can use CEMOS Auto Header to adjust the speeds of the crop flow elements in harvesting mode to the length of cut and the driving speeds.
NEW DRIVE CONCEPT
In the Jaguar 1000, a powerband takes the power directly from the crankshaft of the 24 litre V12 engine from MAN and transfers it to the chopping cylinder,
throwing accelerator and from there to the corncracker. For the ground drive, the pre-compression rollers and the two independent variable attachment drives, a pump transfer case is located at the rear left of the engine, which drives the hydraulic motors. Thanks to the independent variable attachment drives, the pick-up and intake auger on the Pick Up and the knife and transport discs and feed drums on the Orbis can be adjusted independently of each other in terms of speed to suit the harvesting conditions.
NEW NUTRIMETER
Claas is introducing the latest generation of the NIR sensor Nutrimeter with the Jaguar 1000. Thanks to precise real-time determination of the dry matter content, it not only enables precise yield recording and yield mapping, but also automatic chop length adjustment. This supports the best forage quality depending on the dry matter content and optimum compaction of the silage in the silo.
In addition to dry matter content, the Nutrimeter also records other ingredients such as starch, crude protein and sugar content. A new feature is the mobile use of the NIR sensor as an ISOBUS device, which enables easy conversion from machine to machine.
NEW 800 VARIO LAUNCHED
Fendt has launched the new 800 Vario Gen5 series with three models in the range offering 260hp to 343hp. The new models feature VarioDrive, the low-speed Fendt iD concept, and a self-cleaning engine air filter for the first time. There is also a new cab with innovative lighting to increase comfort in all conditions.
The fifth generation 800 Vario includes three models: the 826, 829 and 832 with Power+, Profi and Profi+ specifications available. The range features Fendt’s DynamicPerformance (DP) added power concept which offers a boost of 23hp (17 kW).
Fendt’s latest VarioDrive has been paired with an efficient 8 litre, 6 cylinder CORE80 engine to maximise power and reduce fuel consumption. The CORE80 engine is approved for HVO100 and other fuels according to DIN 15940 which can significantly reduce the machine's CO2 footprint. Fendt’s iD concept saves fuel during high torque, low speed work and also on the road meaning at 40km/h the engine works at 950 rpm, 50km/h at 1,200 rpm, and the top speed of 60km/h at 1,450 rpm.
The single-stage Fendt VarioDrive drivetrain with permanent, independent four-wheel
drive was first introduced in 2014 with the Fendt 1000 Vario and is now available for the first time in the 800 Vario series. This enables maximum tractive power without manual shifting when switching between field and road. It also reduces the turning circle of the 800. Through a pull-in turn effect, the independently driven front axle actively pulls the machine into the turn without torsion.
Like most Fendts the 800 has a low operating weight of 9.9 tonnes but can reach a maximum of 17.5 tonnes with the ability to travel at 40km/h and 50km/h with payload of 7.6 tonnes. This increases the options for implements and offers flexible ballasting.
Profi and Profi+ models provide up to six hydraulic control units at the rear with
the option of up to two control units at the front. Power+ models offer a maximum of four control units in the rear and one at the front, or five control units at the rear. Customers can also choose between three hydraulic pumps: 165 l/min, 220 l/min and for consumers with varying oil quantity and pressure requirements, and a double pump system with a maximum flow capacity of 385 l/min (165 + 220 l/min) is also available. At the rear, there are optional FFC flat-sealing couplings for control units and the Power Beyond connection to prevent dirt ingress into the system and oil leakages.
The 800 Vario has a top speed of 60km/h, and features a chassis and safety concept, with an optional exhaust brake in conjunction
with the hydraulic auxiliary brake. Fendt’s self-centring Reaction Steering, Stability Control (FSC) and Trailer Brake Assistant (TBA) are all designed to improve operator safety. When the tractor is attached to a sprayer or a pneumatically braked trailer the TBA helps to prevent jack-knifing or drifting, especially on undulating land.
A new cab with LED spotlights is available in two equipment variants: Vision and UltraVision. In both variants, eight or 12 spotlights are installed in the cab roof. In the UltraVision variant, the tractor illuminates the area with 4,400 lumens per spotlight, and the spotlights are dimmable in 5 stages.
In addition, an optional Fendt GroundVision drawbar light illuminates the area directly behind the machine to make operation and coupling of implements easier in the dark.
The 800 Vario features Fendt’s Concentric Air System (CAS) ventilation and cooling system, and the fan can be optionally equipped with a reverse function. This can also be specified with a self-cleaning air filter which includes automatic control to save operator time.
All models of the 800 feature the latest FendtONE workstation with armrest and up to three display areas in the Profi and Profi+ models. For winter use there is also an
optional, heated laminated safety glass (LSG) for the front window to improve visibility. The new, electrically adjustable “Super Comfort Seat Titanium Leather” has a memory function and the cab also features Apple CarPlay to enable phones and mobile devices to be operated using the workstation.
The 800 Vario series offers a variety of options for track width and tyres along with the option of Fendt’s on-board air VarioGrip system. A choice of flange or a stub axis (3.0m or 2.50m) are available with both approved for 60 km/h operation.

TIGER SETS NEW STANDARDS IN FLEXIBILITY AND EFFICIENCY
The Danish machinery manufacturer GreenTec is proud to introduce its latest innovation: the Tiger rotary mower, available in two models, the Tiger 510 and the Tiger 725, with working widths of 5.10 and 7.25 metres. The series has been developed under the leadership of British agricultural engineer Martin Lole, founder of Spearhead, and is built on more than 35 years of experience with rotary mowers. The result is a machine that combines high capacity, low power consumption, and exceptional flexibility to suit any task.
The Tiger series will be presented at Agritechnica 2025, marking another step in GreenTec’s ambition to deliver solutions at an international top level.
A NEW WAY OF WORKING
The Tiger features a patent-pending mounting system, connecting directly to the tractor’s lift arms. This makes the mower simple to attach, reduces the risk of pto shaft damage, and provides a significantly smaller turning radius. In addition, the cutting height can be fine-tuned via the tractor’s rear link arms, ensuring greater safety, improved operating economy, and faster workflows.
Another innovation is the GreenFlex Blade System, which allows the operator to choose between three blade types depending on the task: standard High Lift blades with low power requirements, Mulch blades for finer shredding, or additional Recycling blades for extreme fragmentation and faster decomposition. Each rotor can be fitted with up to six blades in total, enabling the machine to adapt to everything from stubble management to fallow land and cover crops - without compromising on capacity.
BUILT FOR HIGH CAPACITY
With a working speed of up to 9-11 mph, the Tiger can handle large areas in a short time. Transitioning between work and transport positions takes only seconds using the tractor’s own hydraulics, making the machine both highly efficient in the field and convenient on the road.

HORSCH REVEALS NEW MODELS AND UPDATES
Horsch has made significant changes to its range of cultivators, drills and sprayers for Agritechnica 2025. The focus is on widespread improvements across all platforms but to retain the founding principles of the business; simple, effective and precise.
Climate change is driving the need for farmers to react quickly, using larger machinery to increase productivity and exploit narrower operating windows. Horsch have witnessed on their own farms that the increases in efficiency outweigh the costs of moving to larger models. Digitalisation is also becoming more important, and Horsch is adding a new generation of hardware and software to deliver services beyond simple machine operations, with significant capacity to take on the company’s ideas in the future.
SHALLOW CULTIVATION
The specialist for shallow and medium tillage, the new 12m Cruiser 12 XL is ideal for stubble cultivation with optimum straw distribution after the combine. It joins the 7 XL and 9 XL and features the FlexGrip tines pre-tensioned with a 180kg release force for precise maintenance of the working depth
even in the most difficult conditions.
In addition, a new version of the Joker HD features a new folding mechanism and revised frame design to make the machine even more user-friendly and easier to operate. A new trailed spring tine Finer XL cultivator offers the same broad versatility of its mounted SL sibling.
DEEP CULTIVATION
The new Fortis 8 AS universal cultivator joins the current 6m-9m range. It has an 8.27m working width and up to 30cm working depth. Suitable for tractors up to 700hp and offering more variety on working depths. The Fortis 8 AS is not equipped with hydraulic tines like the 9 AS, but features the
proven TerraGrip tine system that allows for mounting all known points and wings.
Horsch is extending its successful universal Fortis LT cultivator range with a compact solution for medium-sized farms with standard tractors up to 500hp. There are four new models with working widths from 4.60m to 6.75m. A compact, mounted cultivator for tractors around the 250hp bracket, the Tiger 3 SL is based on the well-proven Tiger concept and aimed at farmers requiring the intensive mixing of the Tiger series, but a more manoeuvrable version.

A new 12m model in the Avatar drill family with increased capacity and the ability to deliver up to four separate components. The Avatar 12 LC comes as standard with a 9400 litre triple tank (split 50:15:35), and either 25cm or new 20cm spacing. The new 7.2m Versa 7 SW extends the power harrow segment and is designed to fit the standard spraying width of 36m. The hopper capacity is also increased with a 6300 litre double hopper for grain and fertiliser.
CROP PROTECTION
The new Leeb 9 LT is a single-axle sprayer equipped with a 9000 litre plastic tank, positioning it between the established Leeb LT models and the Leeb GS. Responding to the demand for powerful yet manoeuvrable solutions, the frame, water circuit and the powerful centrifugal pump with a flow rate of up to 1,000 l/min are taken from the Leeb GS. The Leeb Xeric FS fertiliser spreader goes into series production for season 2026. In addition to the 36m and 48m working widths, a 39m version now completes the range. The new Leeb CT combination front tank is available in 1400 litre, 1800 litre and 2400 litre capacities, ideal for liquid fertilisation while sowing or in combination with mechanical weed management.

From the 2026 product year, all Variant 580/560 and 585/565 models will be equipped as standard with the latest generation of Claas pick-up, the Claas Multiflow HD with a working width of 2.10m (1.90m DIN raking
width) and five controlled tine bars. Based on more than 90 years of experience in pick-up collection technologies, it enables even lower-loss crop feeding and a noticeably more constant material flow. Thanks to the new cam track, 20% less drive is required and maintenance costs are significantly reduced. Removable strippers made of robust, durable plastic guarantee quick and easy access for maintenance work.
The 5-row Multiflow HD pick-up demonstrates its outstanding pick-up quality particularly in silage applications. The strippers on the Multiflow HD are also made of robust, durable plastic and the new cam track geometry significantly reduces maintenance work and costs. The HD variant also has a particularly strong pick up reel shaft with a diameter of 70mm.
In all Variant models, both Multiflow pick-up variants now have a pick-up speed of 146 rpm. This increases the raking performance by 20% compared to the previous model, which
enables higher driving speeds and therefore a significant increase in throughput.
From the 2026 product year, all Variant round balers will be equipped as standard with the Multiflow HD pick-up with a low-maintenance, robust cam track, 146 rpm pick-up speed and plastic scrapers.
VARIANT IN THE CLOUD
All Variant round balers from Claas are now also networked via Claas connect in the app or on the web. New machines are stored directly in the customer's Claas connect as part of the machine handover. This gives them continuous mobile access to digital operating instructions, the lubricant guide and the Claas Parts Shop for ordering original Claas lubricants, wear and spare parts. This means that users have everything in one place - no more misplaced operating manuals and tedious searches for suitable lubricants and spare parts. This service is free of charge for Varient customers
Claas connect also offers comprehensive machine and farm management functions that also support forage harvesting. The integrated
required net or twine to be calculated so that the right amount is always in stock. It is also possible to calculate the net or twine costs, which makes billing easier.
KUHN WIDENS MEGANT
TINE DRILL RANGE
Two wider models of Kuhn Farm Machinery’s popular Megant tine drill have joined the single 6m model already in production.
The 7.2m, 722 R, and the 8m, 802 R, mounted drills include many of the same features as the existing 602 R model but feature wider working widths to increase pass-to-pass output. The 802 R can achieve 8 ha/hr, while the 7.2m model is compatible with 36m sprayer widths, allowing symmetrical drilling and tramlining over five passes.
Kuhn’s Megant range has a low power requirement, with 180hp needed for the 7.2m model, and the 8m model requiring 200hp. The models feature a single 1,800 litre hopper, with an optional SH 1120, 110 litre hopper, for drilling small seeds in the same pass. Both hoppers use the same seed distribution flow and outlets to
maintain simplicity.
The Megant offers growers the option to drill in a variety of soil conditions, with a staggered tine layout over four rows allowing trash and sticky soils to flow easily. Reversible forward-facing coulters, straight coulters, or 12mm tines are
available, while the four front wheels (six or eight are optional) achieve a consistent seeding depth. Kuhn’s Vistaflow universal tramlining and blockage monitoring system is also an option.
The two new models will be in full production from spring 2026.

MORE GRAIN TANK VOLUME, NEW ENGINES AND ADDITIONAL MODEL
In its 30th anniversary year, Claas is giving the LEXION high-performance combine harvester a makeover and introducing an additional model. The main changes are to the grain tank volume, engine power and cab. The Lexion 7500, Lexion 8700 and Lexion 6800 are also getting new engines. With a view to the upcoming Agritechnica and the 2026 harvest, Claas is introducing a number of important innovations to the top combine harvester class. In addition to further improved performance, the focus is primarily on operator comfort.
For model year 2026, Claas is introducing new engines, larger grain tanks and new cab features for the Lexion combine harvesters.
NEW LEXION 8500 AND MAN ENGINES THROUGHOUT THE LEXION 8000 SERIES
From the 2026 model year, the Lexion 8000 series will comprise five performance classes in both wheel and Terra Trac version.
The new Lexion 8500 / 8500 Terra Trac rounds off the lower end of the series, resulting in a narrower power range and giving customers a wider choice of suitable configurations in terms of engine power and grain tank volume. The new entry-level
model in the Lexion 8000 series features the familiar MAN D26 six-cylinder engine with a displacement of 12.4 litres and 549hp as well as Dynamic Power and Dynamic Cooling - which is now also used in the Lexion 7500 / 7500 Terra Trac with a rated output of 466hp. The 8700 and 8600 models, on the other hand, are equipped with the MAN D38
six-cylinder engine with a displacement of 15.2 litres, which impresses even more with its strong and stable torque as well as fuel efficiency. The rated output is 646hp and 598hp respectively.
In terms of separation, all models work with the APS Synflow Hybrid system with a feed channel width of 1,700mm, three drums,
a 755mm threshing drum and two axial rotors that are 445mm in diameter and 4,200mm long. The Lexion 8500 / 8500 Terra Trac is equipped with five rotor concaves with a maximum rotor speed of 1,000 rpm, while the larger Lexion 8600 Terra Trac to Lexion 8900 Terra Trac models offer even more separation performance with six rotor concaves and a maximum rotor speed of 1,200 rpm.
The LEXION 8700 / 8700 TERRA TRAC will be available with the largest grain tank in its class from the 2026 model year.
LEXION 8700: LARGEST GRAIN TANK IN ITS CLASS
In response to numerous customer requests, Claas is also increasing the grain tank sizes. The Lexion 8600 Terra Trac and 8500 / 8500 Terra Trac can now be supplied with either a 13,000 litre or 15,000 litre grain tank volume. The Lexion 8700 Terra Trac is now even available with the largest grain tank with a volume of either 15,000 or 18,000 litres and an emptying capacity of 180 l/s as standard, making it the largest grain tank in its class.
CAB WITH APPLE CARPLAY AND NEW INTERIOR LIGHTING
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto 6.75 inch touch display, DAB+ radio receiver and Bluetooth will be available in the cab from the 2026 model year. A blow gun with a 2m long spiralled hose is also available for quick and easy cleaning of fittings and the cab floor. Thanks to new interior lighting in the cab, working in the evening and at night is even safer and more pleasant. New storage compartments in the left-hand B pillar offer additional storage options.
From the outside, all Lexion models from the 2026 model year are recognisable by new LED rotating lamps and new rear lamps with a modern look, which also ensure greater safety in the field and on the road.
Numerous new features such as the Apple CarPlay radio, additional storage compartments and the blow gun further enhance the cab and increase operator comfort.
Claas will also be offering new operator
and visibility packages for the Lexion from the 2026 model year. Each of the three equipment packages enables customised configuration of driver comfort, headlight and camera equipment with a wide range of features, such as leather upholstery through to swivel leather seats, wireless charging for smartphones, three LED headlight packages, electrically adjustable and heated rear-view mirrors and various camera equipment. In addition, a compressed air connection is available in the cab access area for cleaning the connections on the intake duct.
CEMOS DRIVER ASSISTANCE AND MACHINE OPTIMISATION COMBINED
To make it easier for customers to configure the right Cemos equipment, the available functionalities are bundled into three Cemos packages:
• Cemos Auto for 10% throughput capacity, significant learning effects and noticeably
more driving comfort thanks to dialoguebased optimisation, automatic regulation of the forward speed and automatic crop flow monitoring. The menu-guided loss sensor calibration is unique on the market.
• Cemos Auto Plus for up to 20% performance optimisation and automatic optimisation of residual grain separation, cleaning and digital sweep control.
• Cemos Auto Professional for more than 20% more output, including automatic setting of the threshing unit and camerabased, permanent optical monitoring, analysis and optimisation for maximum machine throughput with the best grain quality and minimum trash. In addition, sales packages are also available for the cab equipment with a full focus on operator comfort, as well as for the areas of work lighting and external camera monitoring, which sensibly bundle various features and thus simplify the configuration of the desired machines.
NEW SLURRY APPLICATOR LAUNCH
Vogelsang has announced it will launch a new UniSpread model at Agritechnica in November. The new 12m UniSpread will join the existing range to offer an additional one fifth working width.
“This model is aimed at farmers and contractors who need a compact solution for spreading liquid manure close to roots. The linkage is available as a dribble bar and trailing shoe and features Vogelsang’s tried-and-tested folding mechanism behind the drum, making it an easy retrofit to any size of tanker,” explained Vogelsang’s Andy Hayhurst.
The trailing shoe model of the new 12m UniSpread will be on show at Agritechnica and will showcase the brand’s DoubleFlow trailing shoe design.
“DoubleFlow halves the row spacing from 25cm to 12.5cm to enable more slurry to be applied more accurately,” added Mr Hayhurst.
The new model features two side support wheels to ensure optimum guidance, and operators can specify an optional piping kit. The UniSpread also benefits from the long- established ExaCut precision distributor.
“The ExaCut ECL will be the standard fitment, but customers can also choose the
lower maintenance ExaCut ECQ, which has won awards for its precision. We are seeing a growing demand for flexible linkages that can be adapted to varying terrain and drum sizes, both for retrofitting and for equipping new tankers, so having this available for the new UniSpread will help it fit the different farm systems in the UK,” said Mr Hayhurst.
Alongside the UniSpread will be two of Vogelsang’s BlackBird trailing shoe models, to enable a direct comparison, on the Agritechnica stand. The BlackBird Light is
available in 12m or 15m working widths and is equipped with two ExaCut ECM distributors without air suction. The Pro version offers the same working widths, and it can be equipped with two precision distributors from the ExaCut series.
“We will also be exhibiting the 30m BlackBird and the SwingMax5 Slide trailing shoe linkage with a working width of 24m. It is based on the already well established SwingMax Slide but the height and width has been adapted to meet UK height and width regulations,” said Mr Hayhurst.

CHARITY TRACTOR RUN RAISES £4,000
A well supported tractor run organised by the mum of a young boy who lost his life to a brain tumour five years ago has already raised more than £4,000 for charity.
Mum Becky organised the event at Riggs Hill Farm, Otterden, in Kent in memory of Joey Ward-Bates, with the proceeds going to the Abbie’s Army charity.
A total of 66 tractors were joined by other vintage vehicles to take part in the run, which was supported by sponsors including the Crawfords Group and Home Bake at Lenham.

YORKSHIREMAN IS TOP OF THE WORLD
English ploughman James Witty has been crowned the 2025 World Conventional Ploughing Champion.
James, from North Yorkshire, won the world title and the Golden Plough trophy at the 70th World Ploughing Contest held near Prague in the Czech Republic in early September.
This was James’ second world title, having previously won the World Reversible Ploughing Championship in 2003. Only three people, including James’s late father Graeme, have won both conventional and reversible world titles, making it a remarkable achievement in the contest’s seven-decade history.
Forty-eight competitors representing 26 countries found ploughing conditions challenging during practice, due to a long spell of dry weather, but a little rain during the week improved conditions for the stubble ploughing on the first day and heavy rain overnight softened the ground for grassland ploughing on day two.
James found himself under pressure on
day one when he suffered a breakdown after ploughing started. It took almost an hour to fix damage to his plough depth wheel, but he was given extra time to complete his plot and, despite the setback, delivered an impressive performance and finished second.
On the second day, James was placed fourth, just 2.5 points behind another former world champion and the only other man to ever take the two titles, Andrew Mitchell senior from Scotland. With different names in the top three placings for each day and the points unannounced, the result was unpredictable and the announcement when it came was greeted with delight by the England contingent.
In the World Reversible Ploughing Championship, England’s Ian Brewer saw his title hopes dashed after drawing one of the poorer plots on the field on the first day. He finished in 14th place on day one but delivered a strong comeback on the second day, finishing third on the grassland and ninth overall.

The unique swivel mechanism permits the leaf blower to swing over a continuously variable range of 230°.
