Remembering Doug Lund

Longtime KELOLAND TV anchor Doug Lund died on May 21, 2024 at the age of 78. The longtime evening newscast co-anchor and South Dakota Broadcasting Hall of Fame member is remembered by friends and co-workers as a calm journalist, but also someone who had an authoritative voice. KELOLAND Specials

KELOLAND Sports shined the spotlight on the top prep basketball players. The Player of the Year special aired during a special KELOLAND SportsZone Saturday show on April 20. Watch the finalists and the winners here.

A Sports First for KELOLAND

The KELOLAND Live Doppler weather team presented another informative Spring Special on Monday, April 8. Watch it here.

D-Day: The Greatest Victory aired June 5 on KELOLAND TV and on many Nexstar stations across the country. This fascinating special retells the stories of D-Day veterans and remembers the sacrifice of so many on this decisive date in history. For the first time in our history, KELOLAND Sports live streamed and broadcast the State Class A & B Baseball Championship games. The exciting finales saw Sioux Fall Lincoln capture the Class A crown and Dell Rapids coming away with the Class B title.

KELOLAND is now home to the CW network statewide and a new lineup of top-notched sports! See what you can expect this fall on the CW in KELOLAND. Catch a preview here.

Ted’s Tips are back!

Founder’s Day of Caring

Every year, Nexstar stations across the country honor the company’s founding with a day of community service. On June 14, KELOLAND team members joined together to help six different organizations.

Volunteers served breakfast to 208 guests at The Banquet.

Eat Well Mobile market received some cleaning help from KELOLAND employees.

Others set up 525 chairs for a concert at the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance.

More team members moved big items for the

Still more volunteers packed 640 meals for the Meals on Wheels program at Active Generations.

And finally, KELOLAND staff helped kids with crafts at the Boys and Girls Club of the Sioux Empire.

KELOLAND in the Community

KELOLAND Media Group hosted a blood drive with Community Blood Bank. 33 units were donated that have the potential of helping 99 patients. #thanksKELOLAND.

Dr. Melissa Dittberner was named our local Remarkable Woman in KELOLAND. See her story and all the Remarkable Women finalists here.

KELOLAND Media Group presented a $5,000 check to LifeScape to support its Journey of Hope building project.

KELOLAND Media Group’s Vice President and General Manager Mari Ossenfort moderated the Business Leadership Council Executive Briefing on June 27. The annual meeting is an opportunity to meet and welcome new executives to the community. The Business Leadership Council is part of the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.

KELOLAND Creative Services producers Nick Ruscitti and Jeff Zueger judged the PSA competition at the HOSA state leadership conference on April 11. HOSA is an organization for students pursuing or exploring a career in healthcare.
