WELCOME
NEW MEMBERS In Jesus Christ, God calls people to faith and to membership in the Church, the body of Christ. The baptism (or reaffirmation of baptism) of those who enter the covenant of membership upon their own profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior witnesses to the truth that God’s gift of grace calls forth a response of faithfulness. (Book of Order, G-1.0301) Today we are welcoming these 13 new members and their families through one of the following: Profession of Faith Certificate of Transfer Reaffirmation of Faith They were formally received into membership by vote of our Session on October 18, 2026 during a called meeting. We praise and thank God for choosing to add to the body of Christ gathered as Vienna Presbyterian Church!
HOPE & SCOTT DIGIUSTO Hope and Scott DiGiusto, with their family are joyful to join VPC by transfer of membership. Hope appreciates the space we make for Jesus to be at the center of one’s faith journey. She also appreciates the youth programs for their son, Duncan. Hope plans to support the youth programs and join her first mission trip. She grew up outside Chicago and loves her Cubbies and Da’ Bears. Hope and Scott are both former Navy pilots. Today she serves as a government civilian space systems engineer. Since attending VPC she has been using the member-written devotional, and each entry guides her to include day 4 about 1 John 2:4-6. Scott admires our focus on Scripture and theology-based sermons. He also appreciates the focus on mission. Scott plans to support the youth programs, mission trips, and volunteering with the service A/V team. Born in Jacksonville, FL, he retired from the Navy reserves. He continues his aviation career today. His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13.
LUKE HOSTETLER Luke has been attending VPC for the past two years now and is joining VPC to grow in his relationship with God and others and build a bigger bond with the church. He hopes to be more involved in worship and leading as he continues to serve as a youth leader and stays ready to help anyone in need! He was a youth worship leader and youth choir member last year. Luke is now working toward becoming a firefighter while being a student at Northern Virginia Community College. His favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 24:16!
JUSTIN HOCKENBERRY & COLLEEN QUINN BAGS
Justin Hockenberry is a Colorado native and now calls Virginia his home. He is an engineer by trade who enjoys home and car maintenance. He stands with his fiancé, Colleen and is excited to grow his family within the VPC community. Joshua 1:9 has guided him through personal challenges, knowing we are never alone. Colleen Quinn is excited to become a member of the VPC community. Originally from Florida, she has called Northern Virginia her home for several years now. She is hopeful to become involved at VPC in several ways, including through service programs in the community, as well as through a Bible study small group. Colleen and her fiancé, Justin, have felt so welcomed each Sunday at the 9:00 am service and are delighted to join the VPC family.
GEORGE LYNN George Lynn is happy to be joining VPC by Reaffirmation of Faith. His wife of 43 years, Jane Burt-Lynn was an active and dedicated member of VPC after their return to the U.S. They met in the army at Monterrey, CA and later became career Foreign Service officers and served at a number of locations in the U.S. and overseas. They have a daughter and three grandchildren here. George is particularly impressed by the spirit of fellowship and inclusion by VPC's leadership and congregation after the loss of his beloved wife. He is fond of 1 Peter 4:10, "As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another."
KATHERINE OWEN Katherine has been part of Vienna Presbyterian Church for 34 years. She grew up in Oakton, began attending VPC as a child, and was confirmed at 13. She and her husband, Rich, were married here, and their children, Juliana (11) and Ryker (7), were baptized here. Katherine is reaffirming her faith because of her deep roots at VPC and her desire for a renewed sense of belonging, family, and community. She hopes to build friendships and grow spiritually through Bible Study and Circles alongside others who share her values. She lives in Chantilly and works as a Health Analytics Director contracted to CMS, designing healthcare payment models that expand access, improve quality, and reduce costs. She holds a BS, MS, and PhD in Healthcare IT and AI from George Mason University. Her favorite verse is John 3:16, which she once read aloud at a Christmas service when the fellowship hall was still the sanctuary. It reminds her that life is a journey, and a church family is always waiting with open arms.
DENNIS WILDER Dennis is joining VPC after many years of attending while remaining a member of the United Methodist Church. Dennis hopes to get involved in the men’s group although he has already made some close friends who you can see him sitting with every Sunday morning. God reaches his soul through traditional hymns. One of his favorites is an African American spiritual inspired by Jeremiah 8:22, “There is a Balm in Gilead.” Dennis and his wife, Ursula, have been married for 42 years and have one adult son.
MIKE PAULSON Mike is excited to be a member of VPC. The Bible, Christianity, and prayer have always been central to his life. Though he has only attended since April 2026, he has been a Christian for as long as he can remember, growing up in Sunday school and church. In high school he was active in Young Life, hosting classmates at his house for meetings. He enjoys the welcoming friendship he feels at VPC and wants to be part of it. After moving from Pennsylvania to Virginia in 1978, Mike joined Bethel United Church of Christ in Arlington, where he served on the consistory, and property, and represented Bethel at the Central Atlantic Conference each year until the church disbanded. He was also a member of the Armenian Martyrs Congregational Church, now in Havertown, PA, which his family helped found early in the last century. Mike earned a degree in Biology from Temple University and a degree in Civil Engineering from Drexel University. During the Vietnam War he was assigned to William Beaumont Army Hospital in Texas. He later spent several years in the Peace Corps with Thailand's malaria eradication program, then joined the State Department as vice consul in Mérida, Mexico. Mike has been married to Liane for 38 years. They have two grown children, Gwen and Carol, two grandchildren, and several grandcats.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
JOSHUA & MEGAN WALKER The Walker family, Megan, Joshua, Jack, and Macy, is delighted to be joining Vienna Presbyterian Church after moving to the area this summer from Westchester County, New York, where they lived for the past six years. In many ways, the move feels like a homecoming: both Jack and Macy were born in Alexandria, Virginia, before the family relocated to New York. Faith and service have long been important parts of their family life. Megan grew up in the Methodist church and served as a deaconess at their former church. She is the Chief Administrative Officer at Goodwill Industries International, an organization founded 125 years ago by a Methodist minister around the belief in helping people build better lives through the power of work. Joshua grew up in Japan as a Southern Baptist missionary kid, an experience that shaped both his faith and his appreciation for communities and cultures around the world. His professional life is devoted to international affairs, and he currently serves as the Chief International Affairs Officer at the US Chamber of Commerce; Jeremiah 29:11 has long been a meaningful verse in his faith journey. Jack (age 10, 5th grade) and Macy (Age 8, 3rd grade) have jumped enthusiastically into Westbriar Elementary school and life at VPC. They love Vacation Bible School and children's activities (basketball and gymnastics as well) and have already joined the choir. As a family, the Walkers are excited to make VPC their church home, deepen their faith, serve others, build lasting friendships, and discover the ways they can contribute to the life and mission of the church.
