Welcome to our 20th Anniversary Season... To all our Operatunity Family, In 2021 Operatunity celebrates its 20th Anniversary Year. In 2020 we witnessed the enormous impact of COVID-19 on our families, our communities, our beautiful country, the world and on our very way of life. We have to be so thankful we live here in New Zealand, surely the best country in the world! I have always said this is a crisis where people come first and business second. I continue to believe this is true and I am heartened and humbled by the moments of triumph we witness everyday both in New Zealand and around the world. More than ever music is a powerful tool in times of trouble to provide happiness and comfort. We, at Operatunity, have the honour to transport people through music to a different realm away from the realities of life in the middle of a global pandemic. As we celebrate 20 years of presenting music to you all through our daytime concerts and music travel, we pay tribute to our amazing team who have worked tirelessly to make a real difference to people’s lives. Although this is a stressful time for us all, we remain optimistic that we will get through this and come out the other side with the care, consideration and compassion which our staff and you all exhibit to us everyday. For the past 20 years, we thank you. Now let’s heal the world through music!

Who is Operatunity?
Operatunity is New Zealand’s leading provider of daytime concert entertainment and national and international music travel. Our core market is seniors, however we know our concerts appeal to people of any age who enjoy our unique brand of good music and humour. Our artists meet and greet you at the door. We get to know you and want you to feel welcomed and part of our family. Our concerts and trips are of a high standard. Our artists are iconic New Zealand professional entertainers who are talented as well as ‘giving’ performers, who genuinely want you to have a great time. Our concerts and trips are professional but not stuffy. We do not consider ourselves in any way ‘divas’. We are just normal people who love to sing and are lucky enough to earn our living through our passion. We want to take you on a journey and entertain you through music. We present all sorts of different concerts, each with its own special theme: everything from Music Theatre, Hits of the 50s, 60s and 70s, Art Deco, Irish, Celtic, Iconic Kiwi, Opera, Classical, Crooners, Glenn Miller, Big Band, pretty much every different style which appeals to our core market.

We only sing the hits from each musical style. We are unashamedly mainstream and want you to know and love every song. Our artists serve you lunch after the show. This is a chance to chat with each other and meet the artists. We never wanted people to just get in the car and go home on their own. We want people to be able to enjoy each other’s company, laugh and reminisce about the concert they have just seen and do that together over a light lunch.

About Our Concerts
• All concerts start at 11am and finish between 12:30 - 12:45pm. • All tickets include lunch after the show. • Nelson Central concert will start at 4pm and finish between 5:30 - 5:45pm with wine and nibbles after the concert. • Our concerts are a blend of music, fun and camaraderie presented in a professional yet informal manner. • All venues have been carefully chosen to be mobility and wheelchair accessible. • Seats at all venues are unallocated and are on a first come, first served basis with doors opening at 10am. • There are a variety of ticket options available to suit individuals, groups and advanced bookings.

Prices shown are inclusive, there are no hidden costs for booking fees, GST, programmes or lunch. Ticket price includes lunch served after the show. Tickets can be purchased directly through Operatunity and are not available from the venue except limited quantities on the day of the show, if available. Tickets can be transferred with 7 days’ notice for another concert within the calendar year. Season Pass
Buying a Season Pass is the cheapest way to see all Operatunity concerts in a given year at your preferred venue. It gives you peace of mind knowing that you have a confirmed booking, and you will skip the queue on the day! Your Season Pass automatically reserves you a place for each of the 8 concerts. Season Pass holders can transfer their ticket to another venue for the same concert should they need to, but you MUST advise the office prior to the concert so we can reserve your seat.
Pick ‘n’ Mix
Not able to commit to every show in 2021? Our Pick ‘n’ Mix tickets have fast become our most popular ticket option. They give you flexibility and a discount when you book 1 ticket per person for a minimum of 4 shows in advance. • • •
All Pick ‘n’ Mix tickets must be pre-paid, including any tickets booked at a later date for additional shows. Extra tickets booked to the same concert will be at the single ticket price. If you are unable to attend an upcoming show, we are more than happy to transfer that ticket to another concert (of the same year) when you give at least 7 days’ notice.
Groups Call our office to pencil book your group and we’ll give you a call to confirm your numbers 10 days before the concert. Book in for 1 show, or the whole year! Groups are encouraged to make a single pre-payment for their tickets, but also have the option to pick up and pay at the door if you are paying individually.

Operatunity turns 20! Operatunity began in 2001 with just four Auckland venues. “There were more people on stage than in the audience when we started with only 9 people coming to see us and most of them were Sue’s family!” Co-owners and founders, husband and wife Susan Boland and John Cameron never envisaged these humble beginnings would result in today’s company. The exciting thing was that the people who came, came back the next month and brought their friends and this kept happening so the word spread. Word of mouth was and still is our best advertising. Although we are called Operatunity, it is a bit confusing for people as the name does sometimes put people off. We have always said the name is a play on the words opera and tunes and although we did present more classical concerts at the beginning we have never been a company of high brow stuffy concerts. We have always been much more about delivering music with fun and flair rather than the pretentious. We want people to come and enjoy. We started expanding our venues over the next few years, taking baby steps, adding one venue at a time until we had to bite the bullet and start our lower North Island and then our South Island tours, adding many venues at once. Then in 2007 we planned our first music trip to Melbourne to see The Lion King. We photocopied an itinerary, planned a trip and thought maybe 20 people might come. We ended up with 72 people within a week and thought we better stop selling at that point and start to work out what we were actually doing.

Over the years our travel has also expanded with baby steps, first three or four trips per year until we now present around 25 trips per year. Because we plan every component of our concerts and trips we ensure they are filled with special flavours, good humour and great music, always delivered with friendliness and genuine care. Now Operatunity employs 17 full time staff and 35 part-time contracted artists. Annually we sing to over 65,000 customers throughout New Zealand and present trips to nearly 1000 travellers per year. It is a busy business, but it is our honour and privilege to meet the most extraordinary New Zealanders and work with the most generous, talented and loving staff. Operatunity is still simply about giving you happiness through music and we thank you for your ongoing love and support.

During lockdown Operatunity presented 18 free Happiness Half Hour concerts for our customers online. “The half hour concerts have been so enjoyable and it is absolutely remarkable how you have all managed to put them together. A big thank you to you all. I have passed them on to many of my friends in isolation and they have all been very appreciative.
