About Western LAMPAC Western LAMPAC is an association made up of electric utilities and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) with a history of over 60 years of representing the mutual interests of its membership in matters related to public affairs affecting the utility industry. This membership includes over 20 IBEW local union organizations representing over 100,000 bargaining unit members who perform work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to ensure a safe and reliable supply of energy to customers of the western utilities. The utilities involved are owned by either governmental entities or publicly traded companies with several million shareholders serving eleven western states covering approximately 35% of the geographical area of the contiguous continental United States. These utilities provide over 21 million residential and commercial customers with what has been historically a safe, economical, and dependable supply of energy that supports a vibrant, diverse and rapidly growing population and economy. LAMPAC was formed as a cooperative venture among a number of utilities and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). The membership is made up of regional IBEW officials, Business Managers and officials of the various union locals along with governmental affairs, labor relations and executive management employees of the participating electric utilities. The IBEW has been a major supporter of the group as a forum for their officials to mix with the influential executive management of the various companies. The following states are represented in the membership: Washington, Oregon, Montana, Hawaii, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, California, Nevada, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. The formal mission of LAMPAC is to inform and educate its members on public affairs matters affecting them and to influence, where possible, the shaping of potential legislation. The informal mission of the organization is to promote positive labor and management relations through cooperative efforts. Meetings are held twice each year, once in the spring and again in the fall. The locations for meetings are rotated among the cities served by the member utilities. A portion of each meeting is dedicated also to promoting social interaction with such activities as receptions, dinners and golf outings. These events provide an excellent opportunity for members to network in an informal setting and to meet many of the speakers presenting at the meeting. Past speakers have included the following: local officials of the areas served, State Utility Commissioners, Chief Executive Officers and Vice Presidents of Utilities, IBEW Business Managers, Regional and International IBEW Officials, Federal, Regional and State Regulatory Officials, Industry Experts, State Governors, State Representatives and Senators, Officials of the Edison Electric Institute and in recent years, speakers have included the International President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the Attorney General of New Mexico, the Mayor of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, an Assembly Woman from the State of Nevada along with various IBEW, Utility and State officials.
