Unit 1: Human Scale

1a: Human Scale To start this project we picked four poses that we would use to fill up a wall and study how we fit in a room. Boxes were put around each pose to show the space they take up

Final Model

Using Illustrator I made a collage of the photos keeping them on a 3/4th scale to fill up the walls. I also created little flaps to show how I scale to the window and door in the space

1b: Presence North Wall

For this, we choose a room in Marvin Hall, in this case, the bridge lab, and had to draft out the floor plans and elevations in scale. These plans were all drawn on a 1/4th scale

Corner View The next step was picking a corner in that room and showing how a person views that corner.

Mapping out the cone of vison and showing where the eyes can and not see.

This was enforced by the picture we took of the corner showing how it lined up with the floor plan. We also lined up all of the elevations with the floor plan.

The next step was to take what we had in 2d and turn it into 3d in form of a viewfinder model. Everything was kept in scale when building the room model. This model makes it easy to visualize the space. To help with this I used photoshop to color my drafted walls.

Unit 2: Motion

Motion Drawings For this project we had to draw ourself in motion. My motion involved me running and jumping onto a bench then juming onto a wall and jumping back off.

To start this project off we drew bots of ourselfs in this motion from both the elevation view and the plan view

Model Process

The next step in this proccess was creating a 3d model of my motion. Below are study models I created and the procces to make my final model. I choose to make a carasoul of my motion, laser cutting the bots of myself

For the study model I created the idea of how the carasoul would look. The idea is my bots would rotate around and you can see the motion in action. I created a back wall as a background for the motion. In the end I ended up scarping the back wall and as you can see in the final model I more explored the shadows the model created.

Below are the photos of my final model, I placed the model outside and photographed it to explore the shadows that the model created. Also to the left is a QR code to the motion video animation of my motion featuring the diagrams created

Parti Models

In this project we were working with space and how to move someone through a space. Key ideas were how someone enters a room, what path they can take, where on the path can you pause and where does the path end. Using all of these features creates an ideal space for a person to use. To start we made parti models.

Coming Out of your room you are greeted to a nice view of the pool and the overlooking baclony

Walking to end up the pool you turn to see the staircase leading you up to the second floor

Walking the other side and weaving through the pillars you see the stairs you are about to go up between the colums you get a view of the room you started your journey in

Walking up the second stroy you see the pool below you and the walkways you can take

Coming to the end of the open walkway you turn around and the stairs yet again and the railed walkway

Ending your journey at the railed walkway you peer into the space while also looking back at the pool area

Unit 4: The Grove

Site Analysis

The first part of this procces was to figure out where in the grove the building should be placed. To do this we made a site analysis of the grove looking that thinks like ideal view lines, open space, location to memeriol drive and sunlight.

Using these factros we picked our site to be at location 2

Case Studys and Bubble Diagrams The next step was thinking about the rooms that were needed in the building and how they should be layed out. We analysised what levels of light should be in each room and how much space they require. As long as other important feautres of the room.

Initial Drawings

The next step of this procces was to start designing how me wanted to look. We decided on having the building being centralized around the gallery with the studio spaces surroinding it. We also wanted people to enter into a gallery overlook and have the studiso be all on the lower level

Initial Models When making this building we really wanted to highlight the curve of the grove so we made our building have a curved wall on the front and back following the grove. We also wanted to break up the symatry a bit so we raised the print room a few feet of the ground. We also settled on a roof design that was more wave like so it would guide viewers eyes to the sightlines the building has
