Hello PENS members! I’m so excited to take on this new role as PENS President for the next 2 years, from 20212023. Thank you to Cathy Flynn for her mentorship. I’m so happy that I will continue to work with her as she continues on the Board of Directors as Immediate Past-President. As the pandemic changed our world into many virtual experiences, both socially and professionally, it also offered us a forced opportunity to meet virtually with friends and colleagues who we may have been waiting to see in person. So, now that we are all experts in virtual meetings, I hope that you will reach out to your old and new PENS colleagues! If a virtual meeting is not for you, connecting via PENS Pals is also a great option! What an amazing conference we had in April! Thank you to the Conference Planning Committee for organizing such a thoughtful, educational, virtual experience for us! If you were not able to join us live for the PENS 2021 Virtual Conference, but you registered prior to the conference, you still have access to the content through July 2021. Don’t forget to claim your CEs by July 20, 2021. A big Thank You to all of the amazing speakers! I’m always so impressed by the knowledge and expertise of our colleagues working in clinical care, industry and research. It excites me to hear about their projects and clinical cases. PENS would not be able to provide such a wonderful learning experience without the support of our incredible industry sponsors! As our sponsors know, nurses are integral to the care of patients with diabetes and other endocrine disorders, and I know they love being able to interact with us during our conference, and in our offices. I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage you to get involved in PENS! This is YOUR organization and we have many committees and task forces that could use your help and experience! It’s a great way to meet new people and learn new skills. Hopefully, as the world starts to re-open, we will be together again at our next conference in Bonita Springs Florida in 2021. If not, I look forward to interacting with you virtually through the next year.
