Erika’s Reading While looking for some inspiration on how to write this speech I stumbled along this quote that said, “Love knows no barriers”. And while I do understand what they really mean by it, on this day, I would have to disagree with this quote entirely. Love definitely knows some barriers. This love has definitely had it’s fair share of barriers and whilst love is what ties two beautiful people, like Tess and Paul together, it’s the trust, the patience, the compassion, the respect and most of all the strength to continuously choose each other every single day, no matter what that barrier is.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Tess for a few years now. Her kind-spirit, her big hear t, her strength, independence, her amazing personality, and her ability to rise up to any challenge that comes her way. Over the years, I’ve learnt to love her slight addiction to reality TV and share her love for all things shopping but all of this combined is what makes me want to keep such an amazing person as a friend. Paul, while stubborn at times, is a man that is strong minded, affectionate and will bend over backwards to help you out or make sure you’re cared for in the way that you deserve. In Tess’s case, she’s treated like a QUEEN. As I’ve watched from the side-lines and witnessed your relationship blossom right from the beginning, through the devotion, the commitments and multiple sacrifices you’ve consistently had to make... it’s safe to say your love is unique and pure, and it runs much deeper than a simple “I love you”. You’ve fought hard to get where you are and like everyone else here, I’m proud to celebrate a love that’s brought such happiness and joy, especially to one of my closest friends.

To us, this is a wedding, but to Tess and Paul this is the ultimate promise to keep fighting those very barriers life will throw every single day, no matter what. A promise to be life par tners, soul mates and best friends for the rest of their life.

No matter the barrier, the problem or woe I’ll be your par tner through life as we go. For now we unite, with this big promise in sight, I’ll promise to love you with all my might. My darling, Through thick and through thin, Our love will always win. And with that, I’ll leave it to the bride and groom to finally get hitched.

Tess’ Vows Paul- Our journey has been so unique and special, I can’t say it was always easy, and it had its own unique hurdles and obstacles but what I know with 100% cer tainty is that, today I am marrying my soul mate.

Paul you have changed my life, you have made me the best version of myself, you have made me open my eyes to what love and par tnership means like no one before, You are an incredible person, you light up the room, you bring energy and attention to every space you enter, you are funny and obnoxiously loud but You are also kind and protective and caring, you are selfless and generous. You are my best friend and my love of my life.

Thank you for being brave when times were tough, thank you for believing in me and us more than anyone, thank you for loving me and making me feel that every single day, thank you for protecting me, thank you for always being honest and entirely yourself, thank you for being cheesy when I tell you not to , thank you for fighting for us!

I promise you Paul, to have your back no matter what, i promise to make you laugh when you are grumpy, I promise to be by your side and give you advice when times are tough, I promise to lean on you when I need suppor t, I promise to be honest no matter what, I promise to put our family first, I promise to be your best friend, your wife and anything else you need me to be.

All I ask is that you kiss me every morning and tell me you love me every evening and protect me always that’s all I will ever need. Thank you for being you, I love you xxx

Alana’s Speech Tess, You’re so special to me. “If I murdered someone, your the person I'd call to help me drag the corpse across the living room floor. You’re my person.” I’ve known Tess a wee while now. Long enough to call Tess - HOME. She is warm , welcoming & makes you feel loved and safe. She is built of sass, wit, grace and beauty. If you are Tess’s friend, you are her family.

Her hear t is pure. Her soul is kind. Her mind is strong and fierce. She also knows when to put her bloody foot down with Paul. Her dedication and commitment to Paul is truely inspiring. This love story is rare and we’re all so lucky to be apar t of it.

Paul, you lucky bugger! It’s been real, real interesting getting to know you and I’d like to take this oppor tunity to say - I approve. This girl stands by you with complete confidence and trust. She will cheer you on - always, and forever call you out when you step over the line. Everything has led you to our beautiful Tess and im so excited for your next chapter together. Its clear how much you love her, and i know how much she loves you.

Tess’ Speech Hi everyone, thank you so much for being here today, I know we couldn’t have celebrated this right without all of you here! I know it is not very traditional for the bride to speak, however as most of you know that’s not really me. I will leave Paul to say most of the thank you’s. However, I just want to say a few things myself. To my now husband, Paul we did it! it’s been a crazy journey to this day and it’s amazing how far we have come. All I can say is Congratulations on getting me. I first thought I would say how Paul and I meet. As a few of you may know, if you had asked me what I thought of Paul before he moved to CDL , I would of said that I thought he was kind of a dick. I remember one time having to walk into chevalier offices to pick something up, and before I could see him I could hear Paul yelling across the office at some poor customer service guy and then him abruptly walking to the front reception to say quite sarcastically what do you want and from that day forward I thought I’m never going back there again... until To my surprise a couple years later he was being hired at CDL and replacing me while I went off to Europe. which is when I meet “nice” Paul. After a year of working with Paul and getting to know the real him, I learnt that what you see is not what you get. Under Paul’s obnoxiously loud nature there is quite a sensitive, caring guy. it hasn’t always been an easy road to here but i can say with 100% confidence that it has been wor th it. it’s been such an amazing day so far, thank you for working so hard to make this day possible and make it to my exact instructions. I love you so much and I can’t wait to spend the rest of lives together. Mum and dad, thank you so much for making this day possible. Your undeniable suppor t for Paul and I has been incredible, People always use to ask me “how does your mum and dad feel about Paul and you” and what is amazing is that you both were always the two people that were there in my corner suppor ting me no matter what, guiding me, loving me and welcoming Paul into our family. it is something I will always be grateful for. Mum and dad you are the two people that shaped me into the women I am today, and I wouldn’t be standing here without you. I love you so much. To Mitchell and Elliot, it has been a crazy journey which we all have gone on together, but I am so grateful to stand here today with having gain you two in my life. This blended family maybe unusual, however you both have let me become a par t of your lives with such open arms. I love you two so much and I can’t wait to be there suppor ting you both on anything and everything you do. To nana and grandma, I am so grateful to have you both here today celebrating Paul and I. You both are strong, independent, sassy, kind, generous women, and I am so lucky to have you in my life. Everyone always says to me how cool it is that you have such a close relationship with your grandparents and how we all love a good glass of wine or gin together. There is so many things I can say about you both, but most impor tantly thank you for being there for every bir thday, spor ts game, sleepover, hospital appointment, par ty, family celebration that’s been. I am so lucky to have the most suppor tive and inspiring women to look up to.

I love you. I do need to mention Paul’s groomsman, i know it means a lot for Paul to have all three of you standing up with him today suppor ting him on this next chapter. I am so lucky to call you all friends and I appreciate everything you do for us both. To my bridesmaids. Alex and Alana- I am so lucky to have you both standing up here with me today. You both look amazing, and I couldn’t imagine this day without you both. Alana, you have been my best friend since I was 15 and it’s pretty amazing to say we are still best friends to this day. You are the sister I never asked for, the friend that has been there through the good the bad the ugly and most impor tantly the person. that has had my back like no one else. I love you so much and I can’t wait to be standing up here with you one day doing the same! To Alex you have been such an amazing friend over the last few years. We have done everything and anything together, we have so many cool memories which I will remember when we are both old and grey sipping on espresso mar tinis. You are the most caring generous friend, and I am so lucky to have you in my life. you and Jesse are Family to Paul and I and I know we wouldn’t be here today as a couple if wasn’t for both of you. your incredible suppor t never goes in noticed. Love you guys. To my maid of honour aka my sister Coco, it’s pretty crazy to be standing up here now just married, thank you for everything you have done to help make this day happen. I know there is no way I could of done this without you coco.

I’m so lucky to have you as my baby sister. Thank you for suppor ting me, thank you for telling me the truth even when I don’t want to hear it, thank you for being just as sassy as i am, There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you and I know that today being centre of attention isn’t really your favourite thing so it means to world to me that you did it anyway to make my day perfect and most impor tantly thank you for letting me steal your bir thday to have our wedding after the first venue cancelled.
