Kieran’s Vows Esme, when we first met, I never imagined this day would come, but standing here with you feels like a destiny fulfilled. I’m constantly filled with wonder at your ability and capacity to love, nurture and care for others. If happiness is equal to one’s capacity to love then I’m going to be a very happy man. I vow to reciprocate your love for me. I vow to care for you in sickness and in health. I pledge to laugh at your jokes as long as you laugh at mine and I give you my word, I’ll always put you first, even before football. I will plan with you, celebrate with you and hold your hand through whatever fortunes our lives may bring. I promise to be faithful and supportive and to always make our love for each other a priority. I’m looking forward to having our own football team and a home to keep them safe and warm. I love you Esme and I promise to cherish you for all the days of my life.

Esme’s Vows Dear my spectacular Ki, I stand here today in front of you and our loved ones committing to you and choosing you to be my husband and lifelong companion. Wow, over the past 4 and a half years we have really been through it all. In the early days of our relationship, I always wondered how loving you felt so easy and natural. There was no drama, which felt unfamiliar to me. You blew my mind away with how extraordinarily patient, understanding, kind and compassionate you were and still are to this day. Although we are so different as humans a characteristic that we have in common which I believe gives us strength as a couple is that we both fiercely love one another. One of my favourite things about you which I have known from so early on is that you will be the most incredible father which I strongly value in choosing you to be my husband. I cannot wait to see what our children will be like with the combination of our personalities. I know you will teach them to be kind, patient, humble and down to earth just like you and that brings me so much joy. The past 12 months have been full of uncertainty and fear but loving you has been my place of stability, comfort and safety. You have always represent a place where I feel grounded and when I look at your face I just see you as my home. You have been a bright spark in my darkest days and you have shown determination, perseverance and strength through always loving me during the good and the bad. I am forever grateful for all that you bring to our relationship. As your wife, these are some of my promises: I vow to never forget the privilege and joy of marrying you. I vow to provide a space for you to be able to express who you are without reservations. I vow to stand by and choose you in life’s wonderful moments and on the days where we have mountains to climb. I vow to never stop believing in you, being your biggest fan and supporting your dreams. I vow to keep working on being patient and present within our relationship despite having such a busy mind. I vow to continue sharing my stories with you in every single detail as I know how much you love that. I vow to do life with you even when time changes us both. I vow to always be open and honest with you. I vow to wake up every day and count you as one of my life treasures and blessings. I vow to fiercely love you and be loyal to you for all our days. I am looking forward to all the adventures that lie ahead of us as a team. My commitment to you is absolute. I choose you today, tomorrow and forever. Kieran we couldn’t be prouder of your achievements and where you are and we love you very much.

Once again as parents you hope and pray that your children will meet a life partner and someone they can reciprocally love and respect and one of the things that was evident to me with Esme was how much she loved Kieran. Esme I could not ask for more in a daughter in law.

Esme I am so very proud of you, to be your mum and the woman you’ve become and for all that you have achieved. You have so many qualities including determination, courage and compassion and abundance. I feel very blessed to have such a wonderful daughter and now a lovely son in law. My wish for you both is that you will be filled with a future of love and happiness.

Grannie I remember so well when Claire gave me the special news that I was to be a grandmother. It was the most exciting few months waiting to meet you. One of my most precious memories with you was when you were 3 years old. You and I were walking through a field of grass and you stopped me and pointed to a large patch of purple clover and you said that’s beautiful isn’t it grannie? How lovely and sensitive you have always been.

Aunty Fran You my darling have brought another level of love, warmth, compassion and devotion to our family, not to mention just a smidge of sass. Not sure where you got that from. We love you so much. How wonderful that you and Kieran have found each other and even more amazing that Kieran you are brave enough to officially join our family. But seriously cherish the love you have for each other through all the ups and down in life, its priceless hold onto it tightly. Now at this point, if everyone could turn to the person next to them to give them a huge aunty Fran hug.

Aunty Rachel Esme I can still remember the day I found out I was going to be an aunty at the age of 15, I was super excited. Just imagine if you hadn’t of moved to New Zealand you wouldn’t have met your best friend Kieran. Esme and Kieran always know you are surrounded by love from your family and your wonderful friends.

David Kieran is a kind and loving older sibling, he would do anything for his siblings. Esme you are kind and loving person and have given your time to everyone of your friends. You guys are a perfect couple and you are his ying to his yang. I wish you nothing but the best and to stay in you guys life.

Hetty I’ve seen you grow from a beautiful but fringe obsessed teenager into a beautiful amazing strong kind and caring woman who touches every heart she meets. From the start Kieran has been the perfect calming balance to Esme in so many ways. I love that Kieran has always been looking out for Esme in showing his love in so many unique and special ways.

Natassia I’m mainly here because I’m such a fan of you two. Kieran, genuinely you are such a loving caring genuine loyal person and I am absolutely thrilled that you are going to be such an amazing friend and person forever. Esme, you are beautiful inside and out every day but tonight you look spectacular. Esme is everything really she is sunshine and love and Esme is the most caring like warm and the most huge hearted person you will come across.

Kieran To Dad, thank you for being here especially for the past 8 years there been no doubt it’s been a hard time. I wouldn’t be here without your support and guidance. It takes two to tango and sadly his partner left the floor 8 years ago but they will always still be stars to us.

Thank you to Simon and Claire for welcoming me into the family but for also how you can raise such an amazing kind caring and compassionate woman. You have both been so incredibly supportive of me and Esme. I promise to love and take care of her. I’ll save the best to last, the most important person in the room, I’m sure you will all agree she looks spectacular tonight. One thing I’ve learnt to admire about Esme is her appetite for life, her strong work ethic and her loyalty to friends and family. Today I marry the love of my life and I cannot wait to enjoy the journey ahead and I feel like the luckiest man alive.

Esme Thank you to my new husband for choosing me to be your wife. One thing I really wish in life is that I was able to have met your mum. Although I didn’t know her and I didn’t get to meet her I do know spiritually how proud she would be of you as her son and proud to be your mum as I’m sure your dad could agree. You are such an incredible human and I can’t wait to be your wife for the rest of our lives.
