2026 IMPACT REPORT

Thank you for making Love the Boot Week bigger and better than ever!
This was a special year, with volunteers across Louisiana cleaning up and caring for their communities in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary Love the Boot Week truly has become a movement, growing to 1,624 litter cleanup and beautification events in all 64 parishes – a 480% increase from year one!
Over the course of nine days, 28,079 individuals dedicated a total of 77,648 hours to the removal of a record 566 tons or 1 13 million pounds of litter If spread evenly across a standard American football field, the litter removed would form a dense layer of trash approximately 5 feet deep!
Recycling is a big part of Love the Boot Week, and this year, 9,870 plastic bottles and aluminum cans were diverted from the landfill and recycled. Volunteers also focused on community beautification, planting 1,546 trees and 4,231 plants, and refurbishing 396 gardens Using the Independent Sector rate of $36 14, the volunteer value of Love the Boot Week 2026 was $2 34 million!
An important part of Love the Boot Week is the awareness generated around the issue of litter. A robust multimedia campaign ran from February to May on radio, billboard, META, and digital, achieving a total of 103 million impressions. Earned media garnered 1.88 billion impressions – 140% more than last year This significant jump is the collective result of thousands of people pitching in to help and sharing their efforts with local media

Love Our Waterways
Keep Louisiana Beautiful needs your help to clean up our state’s rivers, lakes, bayous, and shorelines Our 14,400-mile waterway system is Louisiana’s lifeblood, essential to the vitality of our environment, economy, health, recreation, and culture. We all need to pitch in to clean up marine litter and Love Our Waterways. Clean up by boat or along our shorelines the whole month of September. Sign up at LoveLaWaterways.org.
Clean Biz Partnership
Litter is bad for business. Businesses can distinguish themselves as environmental stewards by joining the Clean Biz Partnership and adopting daily practices for reducing and preventing litter, such as cleaning their parking bays and placing trash receptacles at their storefronts. There is no cost to join.
Get Down & Clean Up
Louisiana citizens can now easily access litter grabbers, safety vests, and trash bags at their local libraries through the Get Down & Clean Up program. Check out supplies with your library card and do your part to keep your community clean. This is a great service opportunity for people of all ages!
Grant Programs
Keep Louisiana Beautiful offers grants to local communities in the areas of litter abatement, waste reduction, recycling, and environmental education Grants are offered for trash receptacles, beautification projects, healthy communities programs, litter and waste reduction at outdoor events, and Affiliate-specific needs.
K-5 Lesson Plans & Youth Activity Books
Keep Louisiana Beautiful provides resources to support educators in their efforts to teach children the importance of caring for their communities and the environment. K-5 grade lesson plans and activities are available for classroom educators that focus on litter prevention, recycling, protecting our watershed, and environmental stewardship.
