Dear Louisiana,
Thank you for cleaning up our great state during Love the Boot Week!
Now in its fourth year, Love the Boot Week has become a movement, growing to 1,408 litter cleanup and beautification events in all 64 parishes – a 403% increase from year one!
Over the course of nine days, 26,935 individuals volunteered a total of 81,852 hours, removing a record 514 tons of litter. Diverted from the landfill and recycled were 16,503 plastic bottles and aluminum cans. In addition to litter removal, volunteers focused on community beautification, planting 1,204 trees and 3,672 plants, and refurbishing 477 gardens. Using the Independent Sector rate of $29.14, the volunteer value of Love the Boot Week 2025 was $2.4 million!
An important part of Love the Boot Week is the awareness generated around the issue of litter. A robust multimedia campaign ran from February to April on radio, billboard, META, and digital, achieving a total of 74.4M impressions. Earned media garnered 782M impressions – 3,028% more than last year. This significant jump is the collective result of thousands of people pitching in to help and sharing their efforts with local media.

Clean Biz Partnership
Litter is bad for business. Businesses can distinguish themselves as environmental stewards by joining the Clean Biz Partnership and adopting daily practices for reducing and preventing litter such as cleaning their parking bays and placing trash receptacles at their storefronts. There is no cost to join.
Get Down and Clean Up
Louisiana citizens can now easily access litter grabbers, safety vests, and trash bags at their local libraries through the Get Down & Clean Up program. Check out supplies with your library card and do your part to keep your community clean. This is a great service opportunity for people of all ages!
Grant Programs
KLB offers grants to local communities in the areas of litter abatement, waste reduction, recycling, and environmental education. Grants are offered for trash receptacles, beautification projects, healthy communities programs, litter and waste reduction at outdoor events, and Affiliate-specific needs.
K-5 Lesson Plans & Youth Activity Books
KLB provides resources to support formal (classroom) and non-formal (parents, caregivers, scout leaders, etc.) educators in their efforts to teach children the importance of caring for their communities and the environment. K-5 grade lesson plans and activities are available for classroom educators that focus on litter prevention, recycling, protecting our watershed, and environmental stewardship.Youth activity books are also available to order and download.
“Let Louisiana Shine” Litter Prevention Tips & Partner Toolkit
“Let Louisiana Shine” is the State’s litter prevention campaign focused on educating citizens on the negative impacts of litter and how to stop it. Show your commitment to cleaning up Louisiana by adopting best practices for litter prevention. You can also use our partner marketing toolkit to help spread the word about litter prevention.
