KEEP AN EYE THE RECORDS IN CONCERT
THE RECORDS
is an initiative of the Keep an Eye Foundation: a prize that allows three promising jazz bands to record their own music. They each receive a fully financed album production worth € 10,000.
During The Records in Concert, the winners of 2022 will present their brand new album. In addition, the three winners of 2023 will be announced. They are selected by an independent jury from a total of 95 entries from various Dutch Conservatories. They then have another year to realize their album.
In addition, since three years The Records in Concert has been expanded with The Records on Tour! Through this new collaboration between Keep an Eye and the VNJJ (Vereniging van Nederlandse Jazzpodia en Jazzfestivals), the winners who release their album this year will be invited to play at various renowned jazz venues.

NEFERTITI LIVE IN PARIS
Nefertiti is a jazz quartet formed in 2012. Despite its traditional instrumentation (sax, piano, double bass and drums) the group explores new possibilities to take this music to new places. The colours vary from sweet singable melodies to contemporary texture. The improvisations can be led by any member, not having any predetermined agreements, giving the freedom to the music to go wherever it needs to at that moment.

Jort Terwijn (double bass/guitara portuguesa/synthesizer) ■ Federico Calcagno (bass clarinet) Hristo Goleminov (bass clarinet) ■ Alessandro Mazzieri (bass guitar) ■ Nick Thessalonikefs (drums)
A fresh and rare installation of bass instruments in the context of acousticelectronic instrumental music.
The band creates a new frame of reference where conventions of how to approach, perceive and understand the bass are turned upside down.
Önder’s vol.2 is a retrospective look at the past two years. With songs about (lost) lovers, buleria rhythms, floods, brain hurricanes, failing politicians and ballet. This makes for a reflection of the times and shines a hopeful light on the future.

AMBERGRIS BELLISSIM

e
Ambergris is a metaphor for the product of the creative process of an artist, who, in the band members’ vision, is someone who has the ability to draw from a stockpile of experiences and emotions, messily accumulated throughout life, and to create preciousness and beauty from them. The compositions performed by the band are a result of that process, they themselves are ambergris, a chaotic mass of stories in constant mutation, digested and reshaped into music.

MARTÍ MITJAVILA TRIO

The Martí Mitjavila Trio explores lesser-known material from the American Songbook and own compositions by Martí. Celebrating the jazz tradition but looking into the future, this unusual chord-less clarinet trio wants to bring a new sound to old songs and explore new ideas with their original compositions.
RONNY DECARLO
Ronny deCarlo is the project of Colombian/Dutch

Roenik Roa Espinosa. His idiosyncratic instrumental compositions are a lush patchwork of Fusion, Gospel and Latin, with influences from film and video game music and a lead role for guitar. In Ronny’s sound world, boundaries of genres are broken down and tight arrangements and catchy grooves exist alongside interactive moments and cinematic melodies.
SPEAR/SPARROWS
Going from furious riffs to sinuous and impressionistic melodies, Spears/Sparrows unfolds like an organic machinery, where genres collide and scatter. Developing soundscapes that oscillate between luxuriant phases and arid territories, where the notes strike, slam and sometimes caress, this dazzling power trio develops an utterly personal approach. The musicians blur the lines between composition and improvisation, risking a balancing act through structures and sound.
TUMULT
Tumult aims to bring a new sound to the Amsterdam scene; a sound fueled by the vast sonic landscapes of post-rock, the propelling grooves of electronic music and the freedom in performance of jazz. Our first record will follow in these footsteps: blending live-playing with different production techniques, allowing the music to take it’s own unique shape and further defining Tumult’s sound.
