KCTT commenced operation in West Australian market in early 2011 as a boutique civil and traffic engineering consultancy. In eight years of operation we have grown to 14 staff over two offices, in Australia and Europe.

KCTT have become a civil engineering, traffic engineering and transport planning consultant of choice in recent years. This is due to our proactive attitude and our dedication to delivering reports on-time and to expectation.

We are a young engineering consultancy aiming to provide services in various fields related to urban development. We are passionate about understanding and answering to ever evolving challenges and requirements of urban environment. Diverse skills of our team members enable us to form a comprehensive solution to any development challenge. While our current core fields of expertise are civil and traffic engineering, transport planning and urban water management planning, we constantly strive to expand our areas of knowledge and experience. In our relatively short history we have delivered over 350 Transport Impact Assessments / Traffic Engineering Reports and have managed the design delivery of approximately 900 residential landholdings, including the construction of over 500 lots. Our current workload consists of more than 2,500 residental landholdings across both Perth Metropolitan Region and Regional Western Australia.

TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORT ENGINEERING:-

Land Development- represents a complex set of activities pertinent to design and implementation of Greenfield and brownfield urban infrastructure projects.

This includes but is not limited to: preliminary feasibility investigations, design of wastewater, water and drainage systems, roads and intersections, earthworks, management of tendering process and contract administration.

Transport Impact Assessment / Statement - a document prepared in accordance with guidelines published by West Australian Planning Commission to determine the impact of the proposed development on the surrounding network.

Urban Water Management Plan - report on strategies to manage water on larger scale projects. Document and calculations are prepared in accordance with following documents: “Better Urban Water Management” document prepared by WAPC and DoW and “Guidelines for Preparing Plans and for Complying With Subdivision Conditions” prepared by DoW.

Traffic and Transport Study - a study of a particular project that is custom tailored to suit a particular requirement of a client.

Parking Study - a study of a particular project that is custom tailored to suit a particular requirement of a client, usually involving a detailed survey.

Concept Design - preparation of drawings to a standard 15% engineering design.

Traffic Engineering Report - a custom tailored report addressing traffic engineering issues for a particular project.

Detailed Design - continuation of the concept design to provide a robust and cost effective design; obtaining all necessary approvals

Road Safety Audit - audit and reporting prepared in accordance with Main Roads WA and IPWEA guidelines.

Tender Administration - preparation of engineering drawings for tendering, preparation of engineering specifications for tendering, advertising tender, responding to questions of tenderers, assessing and awarding the tender.

KCTT were engaged by GM Dayton Land to provide Civil Engineering Services, inclusive of Concept Design, Detailed Design, Tender Assessment and Administration, Contract Administration, and UWMP Design Services on a 350-lot development area in Dayton which has been developed in stages over a 7-year period.

Old Lord Street Design, City of Swan City of Swan

KCTT were engaged by the City of Swan to redesign the existing Lord Street road reservation between a location south of Youle-Dean Road and Marshall Road Dayton.

The project is necessitated by the urban expansion of the Swan Growth Corridor as well as the requirements of the Ellenbrook Bus Rapid Transit project and the proposed realignment of “New Lord Street” into the former Perth to Darwin National Highway Corridor.

Peregrine Estate-Pierre Waters, City of Armadale

Zivalia WA

KCTT are the civil design consultant for the development of 200 lots for Handle Property Group in Peregrine Estate, Piera Waters.

The development is located on the western side of Wright Road and exhibits specific issues with high groundwater (exhibiting at surface through much of the development).

KCTT provided a range of services including:• Detailed geometric road design; • Stormwater drainage design; • Sewer and water design; • Coordination of electrical, telecommunications, gas and landscaping inputs • Intersection design and roundabout design.

KCTT have recently completed the administration of an open tender process with the project split into separable portions for early earthworks and the construction of 3 stages consecutively of the development.

KCTT were engaged by the Town of Port Hedland as a suitably qualified consultant to update the strategy and concurrently prepare a new local planning scheme to implement the revised strategy. College - Lawley Crescent, Mount Lawley

Perth College

Lawley Crescent is a road with strong pedestrian activity and pronounced requirement for pedestrians to cross it often throughout day. The school recently estimated that there are approximately 3,500 pedestrian crossings per day during school periods on Lawley Crescent.

A formal zebra crossing will significantly enhance the safe movement of students/pedestrians throughout the day and for this reason the implementation of a zebra crossing has been a key component of the streetscape works proposed by the School.

Road and Mortiss Street Enhancement Project

KCTT were engaged to design and manage the delivery of approximately 4.5km of Murat Road and 1.5km of realignment of Mortiss Street to cater for heavy vehicles and a separated residential access.

KCTT prepared Civil Engineering Design for Murat Road and Mortiss Street along with the following intersections: • Murat Road / Preston Street • Murat Road / Mortiss Street • Murat Road / Gnulli Court • Murat Road / Kestrel Place • Murat Road / Corella Court • Murat Road / Reid Street.

One of KCTT’s key achievements in this project was managing the full delivery of the project within budget and enabling a small contract sum to be set aside for additional drainage enhancements in Murat Road which are presently being tendered for delivery in 2020.

Lot 26 Coast Road, City of Swan

Home Group WA

KCTT were engaged by the Department of Parks and Wildlife to complete civil engineering design for Lucky Bay Campgrounds in Cape Le Grand National Park, approximately 60 kilometres east of Esperance. The design brief encompasses: over 100 parking bays, camp sites and caravan bays, over 2.5 kilometres of roadways and over 1 kilometre of footpaths inclusive of stairs.

KCTT assisted Home Group WA with completion of their first land development project.

Lot 26 Coast Road has been subdivided and developed into 31 residential lots. KCTT have completed design and managed construction of this development. The work on overall concept design commenced in May 2014 with construction completed in May 2015, in accordance with the project programs.

This iconic location represented a particular engineering challenge due to varying site levels, specific nature of the project itself and work within highly restricted areas (national park). Usage of locally produced construction materials was set as a priority.

Street Activity Centre, Ardross

TPG / City of Melville

KCTT have provided traffic engineering and transport planning input in to Master Plan for reconfiguration of Riseley Street Activity Centre. This included road reserve remodelling, transport modelling, urban design guidelines and preliminary look into parking strategies.

In March 2015 City of Melville endorsed a Riseley Street Activity Centre Structure Plan that is to be used as an overarching guiding document in the process of the Centre Redevelopment. KCTT prepared the Master Plan document as a supplementary document that will guide redevelopment of the Riseley Street Activity Centre alongside the Structure Plan document.

City of Perth Cycle Plan Implementation Program 2016-2021 City of Perth

KCTT have been commissioned by the City of Perth to conduct an assessment for possible cycling routes throughout Nedlands and Crawley.

The subject location includes University of Western Australia, the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre, Royal Perth Yacht Club and 1,348 residential properties. The land use pattern within the study area comprises of a traditional residential urban form with additional land uses such as a hospital and the University.

Most streets in the subject area of Crawley and Nedlands have relatively low traffic volumes given the adjoining land uses.

The exceptions are Mounts Bay Road and Winthrop Avenue. KCTT have undertaken a saddle survey of selected routes in order to better understand the area and provide insight and commentary about the possibility of improvement. The analysis of the surveyed routes and the cost benefit analysis of the proposed improvements have been considered to derive an action plan focusing on short term improvement (quick wins), however taking into account medium and long term improvements.

of Port Hedland Heavy Vehicle Access Strategy

KCTT were engaged by the Town of Port Hedland to update the heavy vehicle access strategy and concurrently prepare input for the local planning scheme to implement the revised strategy.

The purpose of this document is to develop a heavy vehicle access strategy that will serve the Town of Port Hedland as the Town continues to grow and enhance its reputation as one of the key infrastructure hubs in Australia.

The document examines in detail the existing road network and highlights existing deficiencies in the network, in terms of accessibility with heavy vehicles and outlines areas where there are current safety and planning risks in the network and where there are issues with the sizing of infrastructure that limits access / egress by various heavy vehicle configurations.

The future road network planning is also examined and the HVAS provides a gap analysis against any of the previously nominated deficiencies, offering priorities for construction of road infrastructure upgrades, new sections of road, road train assembly areas which strategically improve the performance and functionality of the network, requirements for Over Size Over Mass and RAV Network vehicles and reviewing each industrial area and its specific requirements within the Town of Port Hedland to present a holistic argument for the future infrastructure development within the Town.

A thorough framework for the design, approvals and implementation phases associated with the suggested works scopes is collated in this document, offering guidance on the compliance documentation, the regulatory authority requirements of such major infrastructure works programs and clear descriptors on the future roles and responsibilities of each of the stakeholders in the process.

Finally, a series of further recommended actions provides a concise summary of works that will provide benefit to the Town in the implementation of this Strategy.

KCTT was commissioned by the City of Stirling to conduct a number of car parking surveys at 28 Local and Neighborhood Centres.

Each centre was surveyed three times to gather a reliable database which would inform the occupancy of parking at each centre.

Prepared report outlines the methodology used to collect the data and the findings from each survey in the form of average occupancy across the three surveys and addresses observations made onsite that are relevant to the findings. An extensive desktop study was completed prior to conducting the surveys to ensure that the chosen day and time of the three surveys will capture the true parking demand. Additionally, excel spreadsheet with details of occupancy of each parking bay is provided.

Shire of Kalamunda

KCTT have completed preliminary traffic and transport reporting for the new proposed development in the Forrestfield North area. The new proposed development comprises of industrial, residential and mixed use distributed over area larger than 180ha. It is envisaged as an organic extension of the proposed railway station precinct.

Due to the high importance of the area, this project required extensive liaison with relevant authorities planning in the subject area (such as Gateway WA project - upgrade of Tonkin Highway / Roe Highway interchange, upgrade of the intersection of Tonkin Highway / Abernethy Road; Expansion of Perth Airport and development of new business area adjacent to the subject DSP area; and the extension of railway).

At this stage KCTT have examined several development scenarios and their potential impact on the surrounding network and the potential required upgrades such as:• • • •

Configuration of carriageway for Berkshire Road (west), Milner Road, Sultana Road and Maida Vale Road (west).

The review included a detailed survey of preferred transport modes of patrons at Patersons (Domain) Stadium as well as comparison of the proposed stadium to other stadia around Australia.

Wungong Precinct H is a part of the Wungong Urban Water Master Plan which incorporates 13 Precincts. The Structure Plan Area proposes 412 Urban Lots (160-360m2) and 1010 Suburban Lots (200-575m2), one primary school and a neighborhood centre.

All the intersections are designed to have full unrestricted movement of vehicles to and from the Structure Plan Area. The intersections are priority controlled. This is suitable level of control for the anticipated traffic impact.

KCTT were engaged by Thinc Projects and Rio Tinto Iron Ore to prepare a traffic impact study for a group of projects titled “Wickham Accommodation Expansion”.

The proposed residential expansion included over 700 additional lots and over 500 additional units for short and long term stay. The proposed development would impose requirement for upgrading of the existing intersections with Point Samson to Roebourne Road.

A detailed traffic generation and parking requirements analysis was conducted. Attention was given to the pedestrian movement in particular due to the harsh climate conditions.

Further to this, a formal road safety audit has been conducted at the intersection of Hakea Street and Point Samson to Roebourne Road in order to determine the exact extent of the required improvement.

KCTT have been a part of the team in charge for developing a Master Plan for revitalisation of the iconic Hannan Street Precinct in Kalgoorlie. The main focus in this project was to examine the options for the best possible use of the wide road reservations.

KCTT have completed preliminary traffic and transport reporting for the new proposed development in the Doley Road LSP Byford. The land occupies an area of approximately 84.23 ha.

Reconfiguring the road reservation required a particular concern for the specific climate requirements, general habits and preferences of residents / end users and the budget constrains. One of the main focal points was configuring the road reserve so that it is pedestrian and cycling friendly during hot summer months. Introduction of parklets and alfresco areas would allow for greater exposure and capacity for local businesses, with KCTT ensuring stormwater management requirements were met. Reconfiguration of some of the bus stops and particularly interface with St Barbara’s square was also examined.

The development proposes to subdivide the Doley Road LSP, Byford into approximately 2,393 residential lots (887 lots with an assumed R25 yield, 764 lots with an assumed R40 yield and 742 lots with an assumed R60 yield), a Neighbourhood Centre, a Primary School and accompanying POS. KCTT have developed a high-level Paramics Model suitable for use in Local Structure Plan submissions of this scale and size. The proposed roads were classified and sized to cater for the expected traffic volumes. Key intersections were analysed in more detail. Years 2026 and 2036 were taken as assessment years.

As a preliminary input into the Master Plan guidelines KCTT examined the implications of this expansion on the surrounding road network, options for developing parking ratios appropriate for the centrally located lifestyle village and methods of enhancement of pedestrian movement in an environment with high percentage of vulnerable users.

Traffic flow has been distributed in accordance with Paramics modelling completed by KCTT. The analyzed traffic includes the existing road network traffic plus the expected traffic impact from the Mundijong-Whitby DSP, Cardup Business Park LSP, West Mundijong Industrial Area DSP and the expected traffic generated from the Structure Plan Area.

The purpose of this model was to update of the existing traffic assessment prepared 9 years ago at the very commencement of the project and to determine the most appropriate traffic management methods for several critical intersections.

The assignment included provision of project documentation for the reconstruction of the existing parking area in front of the new cemetery “Barutana”, in Kraljevo.

Afterwards, at suitable locations, trees were to be planted to provide shade and protection from precipitation to parked vehicles.

Our team has prepared complete design for a roundabout at the junction of the following streets: Vuka Karadzica, Karadjordjeva and Zelena gora.

The project included consideration of potential options for intersection configuration and control, and after analysis in the SIDRA Intersection software tool, choosing the optimal solution. Civil engineering part of the project was related to redesigning the intersection geometry. Project_ Reconstruction of Vuka Karadzica Street Client_ Directorate for Planning and Construction “Kraljevo” The scope of works included the provision of project documentation for the reconstruction of Vuka Karadzica Street. This street is an arterial street, and it is located within Boracko naselje (suburb in the city of Kraljevo). The section of the street for reconstruction was 350m long.

The main goals of the reconstruction of Vuka Karadzica Street were improvement of the Level of Service, to enable an uninterrupted traffic flow, improvement of traffic safety (including both pedestrians and motor vehicles). Additional task was resolving the onstreet parking arrangement. Futhermore, drainage, electrical design (public lighting) and other infrastructure problems were required to be resolved in accordance with the relevant City standards.

Preliminary design and detailed design (for construction) were issued to the Directorate for Planning and Construction “Kraljevo”.
