•That is something we pride ourselves on. We aren’t just there to take beautiful images, we are there to help curate your dream day.

3. If you have something happen like illness or deployment that means a date change will your photographer and videographer work with you?

Why did you decide to be a DJ for Weddings?

I love seeing a couple full of excitement. Making their wedding day a wonderful celebration that goes beyond their own expectations, brings joy to my heart.

What questions are essential for couples to ask before booking you as their Wedding DJ?

My experience and problem-solving skills on wedding day! Some weddings don’t go as planned and knowing how to identify and then correct issues to keep the flow of the event moving as seamlessly as possible is crucial.

What does DB Entertainment offer besides Emcee/DJ services?

We offer the essentials and more! Day of coordination, ceremony sound, love story presentations and lighting design.

What is one unique personalized detail that you have seen couples implement into their wedding that others NEED to know about?

Personalized table numbers with a photo of the couple at each table. Give it more zing, by including a fact about the couple using that table number as the answer.

The Firestone Building is a historic building and staple in KC, MO. Can you share some of the history behind the building?

Harvey Firestone built the Kansas City location in 1915 for the headquarters of Firestone Company. The building was constructed in a manner that was ahead of its time and continues to remain a structural and architectural masterpiece to this day.

Name 3 of the most unique features about your venue?

• The historic significance of the Kansas City MO landmark building.

• The fountain in the lower level.

• The original illuminated “Firestone” sign

What amenities are included for couples who book KC Firestone for their Wedding Day?

Open vendor policy that allows you to personalize your special day. The spacious venue covers 2 full floors to host ceremony, cocktail, and reception or any configuration of those. All day access from 9:00am to midnight. Chiavari chairs and tables (rounds, high tops, rectangular) Overnight accommodations coming soon!

Todd and Andrea Hulse have been partners in the KC Catering scene for 25+ years. Since the beginning of their journey together events and wedding have been a passion that has carried into almost every venture of their professional and personal lives. Bringing experience, vision, and creating moments for couples to remember a lifetime, is the passion that drives them to succeed and grow.

When did you enter the Wedding industry and how has business changed?

KC Hopps started in 2013 with Relish catering that aimed towards corporate catering and events. After acquiring multiple established Wedding Catering companies including Classic Catering & Shining Stars, led KC Hopps to dive in to the Wedding Community. Under KC Hopps, we also operate and manage Wedding Venues such as The View at Briarcliff, The Gatsby On Oak and for more intimate events, The Social Club.

As an experience Wedding Vendor, what is the most important thing couples should know before planning a tour or tasting?

It is important to understand your vision of what you are looking for on your Wedding Day or event and what your expectations for budget are.

What is the core value of KC Hopps and how does that translate into each of your businesses? Creating guest experience and exceeding the expectations.

I wanted to create a unique place for couples to celebrate the beginning of their lives together or for other guests to come celebrate a special day or just to have a glass of local wine with friends and family.

What all does serendipity offer to couples?

Indoor, outdoor, ceremony, reception, rehearsal, all of the above?

We offer indoor and outdoor options for both ceremony and receptions, tent for dinner and/or dancing, rehearsal options, 4 bedroom/4 bathroom onsite accommodations, tasting room, miniature horses on site, micro weddings and elopements

What questions are essential for couples to ask before booking a tour and falling in love with your venue?

It is important to know that we can seat up to 210 in our tent for the dinner. We allow couples to bring in their own vendors with the exception of bartending. We have multiple options and levels for couples to choose from.

Tell us what makes Serendipity unique?

We are a rustic barn with luxury vintage feel. From the chandeliers inside our barn to the arbor nestled in the trees, we have a beautiful property that is sure to make your day memorable and special!

What is one unique personalized detail that you have seen couples implement into their wedding that others NEED to know about?

It’s all in the little details! Guests love the small details from photos of your dogs on table numbers, tasting the bride and groom’s personalized cocktails or snapping pictures with our miniature horses in front of the barn.

I offer a limited edition experience, there is only one me. I want to know everything about you, making a connection is something I am passionate about. Executing your perfect day is what I live for, let’s have a party and make some lasting memories.

What is a misconception that you hear from couples who are interested in getting married at a country club?

You do not have to be a member to host your wedding or event at a country club. Our facility like most country clubs is open to nonmembers to host weddings and events. All of our venue spaces have reasonably priced facility charges that are comparable to other venues who do not offer our amenities.

What questions are essential for couples to ask before booking a tour and falling in love with your venue?

If you have a specific date that you are set on, make sure it is available or have an alternate date in mind. If your ceremony venue is at a

different location than your reception, make sure both dates are available before setting one or the other first, book at the same time. Also make sure you know how many guests the venue can accommodate.

Tell us what makes St. Joseph Country Club unique?

Starting the day in our Bridal Suite pretty much sets the mood of, “WOW this is going to be the best day of our lives.” We provide a truly elegant experience that leaves you feeling like you are at the spa the day of your wedding. With our recent remodel and upgrades our attention to detail are unparallel. What’s really most important in all of our unique and exquisite offerings is our guests experience. We want your day to be truly magically and one to remember for decades to come.

Megan and Ellen came to me with the amazing concept of what they envisioned for the latest cover of the KC Engaged magazine, and as soon as I heard about it, I had to jump on board!

Sometimes there’s just not a gown already available that’s going to fit the vision you have in mind, and that’s where I come in. With my degree in Apparel Design, I was excited to create a look that fit their unique and whimsical mood...

...and we had only about a month to make it happen!

This gown is all designed, patterned, and sewn by me. Each ruffle on the skirt is handmade and then attached, which made the sewing process around 75 hours long. I wanted to create a gown that had two looks, as the two looks in one dress is very much on trend right now, but of course I had to put my own twist on it.

WHIMSICAL HANDMADE

This design was so fun to create, and it really pushed me out of my comfort zone. It’s so different from anything I’ve made in the past. While shopping, you see a lot of similar silhouettes and textures, and this design was so different and completely unique which made the process that much more fun.

tipping guide

You’ve made your budget, booked all of your vendors and services for the big day, and are totally winning at wedding planning! However, there might be something you forgot! You will need to budget for tipping those making your big day perfect. We’ve put together a guide to help you!

catering + bar service: If your contract does not have gratuity built in, you should expect to tip 15-20% of the total bill. Likewise, with your bar service, you should plan to tip 10% of the total bill.

photography + videography: You should tip the main photographer/ videographer $50-$200 for the evening. If there are additional shooters, you should plan for an additional $50-$100 each.

music: Your DJ can keep your reception running smoothly and your guests entertained. A 10-15% tip is standard. Band members should be tipped $30$50 each.

floral + decor: Florists create handcrafted designs for your wedding. An appropriate tip is 10-15% of the total cost. If florals and rentals are being delivered, you should plan to tip the delivery sta $20-$30.
