The Basics • Choose a date - it can be helpful to pick three possible dates or a time of year so you can be flexible with your venue’s availability. • Discuss budget with all parties that are contributing. • Visit ceremony and reception venues and book your dream locations as soon as possible.

The Vibe • Start to think about your wedding style and look for inspiration (creating a Pinterest page or following wedding Instagram accounts can be super helpful). • Browse stationery designs, wedding dress styles, color schemes - get those creative juices flowing! The Fine Print • Consider getting your engagement ring insured. • Start creating a wedding website. • Stay organized! Every bride’s journey to finding her dress is unique. What worked for your friend, might not work for you.

Set a budget! Don’t set yourself for disappointment by trying on a $10,000 dress when your budget is $2,500.

Give yourself plenty of time to not just look, but for the whole process. It can take 8-10 months from the time you start looking to when your dress is delivered.

Don’t bring a large entourage to your fitting appointment. It can be overwhelming. Bring a few people whose opinion you truly respect and trust.

You’re going to fall in love with a dress and that’s when you know you’ve found “the one.” Also, you cannot force the connection.

Be Flexible - Things can change weekly and monthly. You will have to be flexible if your plans change.

Buy Honeymoon Insurance - It can save you stress and money by guaranteeing coverage in case of cancellations, delays, and lost hotel/activity bookings. To be extra safe, consider a “Cancel for Any Reason” policy.

Make sure to get Honeymoon Insurance Coverage that reimburses your for medical costs.

TIPS FOR CREATING THE PERFECT REGISTRY ο

Register at a minimum of three different stores. This way if your guests are from out of town, they will most likely have a store nearby. You can also create online registries.

Break registering into multiple days. Trying to get it all done in one day will become overwhelming. Think bedrooms and bathrooms in one day, tackle the kitchen department another day.

Register for gifts in all price points. This way your guests can choose a gift they know you’ll love at a price they can afford.

Be careful not to register for seasonal items. If you are registering nine months ahead of time, they may not have these items when your guests go to purchase them for you.

If you’ve already built your home together, think of some good ideas for an alternative gift registry. Try a honeymoon fund or donations to your favorite charity.

Think about the style of exit you want to have. Is it a more formal affair? Then a classic limousine or vintage car is the way to go!

How many people do you need to transport? When your wedding party is very large, you may need more than one vehicle. You might also consider a luxury bus.

Transportation companies will need you to book their services for at least two hours. So put this time to good use. This is a great opportunity to go take some fun pictures with your wedding party off-site.

Some ideas for guests: Make sure you enclose directions from the ceremony to the reception. This can be a huge help to out-of-town guests. You could also include information for shuttle services and rental companies if you expect many out-of-towners.

When booking valet services for your reception, most require a minimum car amount. Be sure to check on this before you book. Most services will have one valet for every 20-25 cars.

tipping guide You’ve made your budget, booked all of your vendors and services for the big day, and are totally winning at wedding planning! However, there might be something you forgot! You will need to budget for tipping those making your big day perfect. We’ve put together a guide to help you! catering + bar service: If your contract does not have gratuity built in, you should expect to tip 15-20% of the total bill. Likewise, with your bar service, you should plan to tip 10% of the total bill. photography + videography: You should tip the main photographer/ videographer $50-$200 for the evening.
